New York City is in for a rare treat on November 20th as four musicians of remarkable skill and reputation come together for one night only.

Playing the role of the axe, Leo Nocentelli, the original guitarist from The Meters, will show New York City why he and The Meters will go down as the founders of funk! This man’s skill and history are so deep, that one never knows where he is going next with his guitar.

Next in the all-star squad is Stanton Moore, of New Orleans funk powerhouse, Galactic. If you have ever seen this man drum, you know how intense and complex it gets. Stanton lays down beats that most drummers can’t even dream of doing. Aside from being the drummer for Galactic, he has made quite a reputation with his other outfits, Moore and More and Garage A Trois.

As Stanton lays down the funky beats, Chris Wood of Medeski, Martin & Wood will be shreading his bass in conjunction to Stanton’s complex beats. Chris Wood’s bass style is in your face and quite complex. Whether he is on his electric bass or his traditional stand-up, he lets loose at a ferocious pace not common to your typical bassist. Expect to see quite an intense interaction between Stanton and Chris.

Rounding out the all-star quartet is Bernie Worrell, the original keyboardist of Parliament Funkadelic. Having played on over 400 studio albums in his time, Bernie’s ever-funky presence in this band will round out what could only be described as a dream band. Worrell is the real deal on the keys folks!

It is not everyday that you can get two Rock & Roll Hall of fame members together, never mind complementing their history and skill with two of today’s most respected young musicians. This will be a night that New York City will not forget! Don’t be surprised if this evening is even further intensified with some surprise guests to add to the fuel!

If the last time C. Wood, Stanton, and Leo got together (Mardi Gras 2000) is any indication of how this night will play itself out you will surely not want to miss it.
