Mi Ami
Through both passionate live performances and powerful recordings, Mi Ami has made authenticity their mission. Comprised of two key members of Dischord's hyper-percussive Black Eyes (Daniel Martin-McCormick on vocals and guitar, and Jacob Long on bass) and Damon Palermo on drums, this trio from San Francisco has harnessed the energy of their previous work and focused it, laser-style, into a pure stream of heavy, concentrated playing. Pulling from 60s free jazz, dub, minimalism, disco, and African music, the band manipulates rhythm, negative space, and the physicality of song.

The record is out now and people are talkin':

"It's easy to get lost in Martin-McCormick's high-pitched, keening vocals, equal parts no wave nervousness and androgynous nerve; his burst of scratched-out guitar skronk; Palermo's primal-power beats; and Long's reassuringly melodic bass lines." – San Francisco Bay Guardian

"... drum-centric punk with Afro-pop leanings, punched up with noise and lo-fi experimentalism for good measure." - Pitchfork

"... a strange and cool record." - The New York Times

For the next two months, Mi Ami will be on the road virtually non-stop, hitting U.S. towns large and small alike, some of them possibly near your very place of residence. In conjunction with the announcement of these dates, you can download a free mp3 to lend a taste of the band's full-length debut album Watersports.
