LATEST RELEASE ON STS9'S 1320 RECORDS

DubConscious
"Be the change you wish to see in the world." This remains one of DubConscious' most sacred mantras and the definitive theme in this year's winning election. On January 20, DubConscious celebrated the release of their fifth studio album alongside the celebration and swearing in of President Barack Obama on Inauguration Day 2009. Recorded at Tree Sound Studios with Grammy Award winner Robert Hannon (Engineer, Album of the Year for Outkast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below), and partnered with Sound Tribe Sector 9's label, 1320 Records, DubConscious' NonViolent is a prophetic follow-up to American Dream.

Digital downloads are available online at 1320records.com and sold at live shows in the form of coded "seed cards," which after the music is downloaded can be planted to grow flowers that help a dwindling honeybee population.

DubConscious will be touring heavily throughout the first quarter of 2009 in support of NonViolent. DubConscious maintains a firm stance on being an environmentally progressive band and the group truly walks the walk in living the message they convey from the stage through their music.

Since 2002, the Athens, GA dub reggae collective DubConscious has been on the leading edge of solution-based philosophy, social and environmental awareness, and the evolution of today's music. These values are promoted through their music, their distinctive line of organic merchandise, and their collaboration with organizations such as Rock Against Cancer, Wiser Earth, Hands On Atlanta, Rock The Earth, Riverkeeper, Headcount, and Sustainable Waves. Their unique musical style pays homage to world music icons Bob Marley, Burning Spear, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Fela Kuti and King Tubby, while incorporating newer influences such as Thievery Corporation and Sound Tribe Sector 9.

The new album is awesome, a solid progression of where they've been heading in the last few years. Definitely worth snagging a copy of!

One of the all-around best bands to come out of the SE lately. Their music always elevates me to a higher level, like a guided meditation. I'll definitely have to check this new album out.

This is true roots reggae at its finest. These guys are so talented and very conscious. If only Reggae bands like this, could get the attention that Matisyahu gets. The horns, the basslines, the dub. I hope they represent hard core this summer at the fests. They are one of the best American Reggae bands, along with: Groundation, John Browns Body, SOJA,and of course Bad Brains(half the time).

yeah i'll probably want to hit this up, they do put on a fun show, and i think i have a crush on the foxy vocalist they were touring with a while ago.

don't know about the sickest on the planet though, jaydecker, and by the way, to those that may agree with the statement about american reggae, you don't know what's tight til you know giant panda guerrilla dub squad. check that shite out..

Groove I have seen them 30 plus times and they bring the heat every time. Not one show has made me bored like many other bands that I see freqently. They do no play the same show every time, thats redickulous. They play conscious music that makes everyone smile while ripping till your jaw drops. They can get super psycadelic do. Great people too.
