ABOUT THE FOX THEATER
The doors of the Fox Theater had been closed for over 40 years until Friends of the Fox, an organization formed to advocate the restoration of the Fox and its use as a live music venue, raised the money needed to start the renovation of the beautiful and historic building. After three years and $70 million, The Fox is ready to open its doors. The Fox Theater is a more concert-friendly facility with flexible capacity from 1,500 to 2,800.

A key feature to the venue is accessibility. The Fox Theater is BART-friendly, located just across the street from the 19th Street station in downtown Oakland. In addition, visit our website at www.thefoxoakland.com for detailed parking information.

Another Planet Entertainment will manage the day-to day operations of the theater.

JamBase photographer Josh Miller was invited to a private pre-showing of Oakland's Fox. Here are his pics:

See what happens when you leave me alone in that place for 5 minutes with nothing but a metal pipe and a jar mayonnaise?

that is ridiculous don't talk sh*t about oakland or you will die literally seriously! come on sh*t can happen anywhere. you don't know oakland, bro! i love oakland and have lived around here most of my life. FOX Theater oakland is beyond wonderful. I went for solliliquists of sound, alo and Franti. it was a bit boomy on this, my first show at the venue, but that will be solved over time. i hung mostly in the nice vip standing area you get w/ visa purchased tix (or visa gold?). the theater is incredible inside. though the paramount may bump it slightly for sheer architectural beauty this has to be the best larger venue in the bay area. well mid sized i should say not the #s of HP or oracle. incredible attention to detail in the rehab of this architectural gem. the staff everywhere was outstanding. for those that drink or even if you are just getting a soda the bars are EVERYWHERE, six or seven of them. the big bar facing the street w/ the window so you can see your friends coming up to get in line or enter the venue is terrific. the old Westinghouse light switch board where you can move the switches and lights go on and off is very cool, great little idea to have kept that in place. the two buddhas (w/ eyes lit up, very cool, a bit spooky but cool!) on either side of the stage are marvelous. I can't speak highly enough of this fantastic venue right in my backyard. I am beyond impressed. Franti was fine and everyone loved it...ALO kicked ass but sadly just a short five song set (the psychedelic jam w/ great lights that ended the set was the best part i thought, out of a song i forget title). Solliliquists were okay but didn't knock my socks off. I will return (soon!)
