First Album: Dave Portner (Avey Tare) / Animal Collective

This is very strange, I would have never brought this up before... but I remember buying a Tiffany single when I was younger, and the song was "It Could Have Been." It was a real emotional song, I remember that being one of the first times I was affected – I know it's really cheesy, and if I listened to it now I'd probably be like 'what was I talking about' – but I remember being touched somehow by that song when I was young and just being so young when that song came out. It seems kinda weird, but I definitely remember hearing that song on the radio and wanting to buy that record just because I felt like it was such a sad song and I really got into that somehow because of the fact that the song just could make me feel sad. So there ya go.

Young MC was my first album... Followed by my first CD, Soul Asylum 'Hang Time,' which I got in 1989, when CDs were barely around... still plays, doesnt skip at all and it almost 20 years old... Hang Time is still my favorite Soul Asylum album...

Pretty funny, but heartfelt at the same time.

Mine were Presidents of the United States of America and Alice in Chains.

Unfortunately, mine's a little closer to the dude from AC's: I think it was the single for Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You. It was either that or Eric Clapton Unplugged, which I got for the Tears in Heaven song and only later realized how good it was otherwise. Both came out when I was about eight and just getting interested in music.

3 doors down the better life and skeletons from the closet

great contrast in a time where i just rocked a discman and those 2 cds for weeks....i think its well known that green day has had a huge role in the music development of most heads. im not sure what it is but so many people i know spent a solid amount of listening on early green day before moving on to other tastes.
