THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND ADD 5 MORE BEACON THEATRE SHOWS BY OVERWHELMING DEMAND
15-SHOW RESIDENCY RUNS MARCH 9-28

Allman Brothers
By overwhelming demand, the Allman Brothers Band have confirmed the addition of five more shows to their previously announced 10 nights at New York City's newly renovated Beacon Theatre. Rock's definitive live performance act that won Billboard magazine's "Legends of Live" award this past November have played the venue 175 times since 1989 and established the most acclaimed and longest-running residency in rock & roll. Tickets for the newly added dates go on sale February 6.

The group - GREGG ALLMAN (vocals and keyboards), BUTCH TRUCKS (drums and tympani), JAIMOE (drums), WARREN HAYNES (vocals, lead and slide guitar), DEREK TRUCKS (slide and lead guitar and BUTCH's nephew), OTEIL BURBRIDGE (bass) and MARC QUINONES (congas and percussion) - will as usual welcome many special guest musicians at the Beacon. "I'd love to tell you what we have planned," ALLMAN recently told Billboard, "but it's just kick-ass, that's all I can say."

Check back for the latest news and stay tuned for announcements on the group's 40th anniversary celebration tour.

I read a quote from Butch Trucks that said he won't leak any of the special guests they are having, but he said he can gurantee that Dickey Betts will NOT be part of those shows.

yea i read that too man....i dont get it

if phil and bobby were able to make up and get back on the road then why cant dickey and the brothers just reconcile their beef

something as great as MUSIC is much more important than the individual egos within it....

no if only these tickets were not sold through ticketb@stard, maybe i would get a chance to go see one of them. i won't be shelling out the bucks to get them through ticketsnow, that's for sure. we do need legislation in this country against scalping!

i love dickey just as much as the next guy, but lets be serious, the guy has a terrible drinking problem to a point where he can barely play. i saw him at the stone pony in new jersey two years ago, and the guy was so drunk he fell over on stage, and had to be picked up by his guitar tech. pretty sad..

I'll be Peakin' at the Beacon 3/19-3/21st!!!!!! just booked my flights. The brothers are the most talented band touring right now. Period. I'll fight you if you disagree.

In my opinion there is nothing like seeing the Allmans live at the Beacon. It's totally intense. If you haven't experienced it yet, get a ticket when they go on sale on 2/6. It's totally worth it.

Derek kills it, but they are still bums for not bringing Dickey back. I would hardly call Greg extremely talented, but he has built a solid band around himself and his name. Dissing a founding member who did little to nothing wrong, especially compared to Greg, is a sad story and pretty much defines the band. How many songs will they play AT LEAST twice during this run? It will be fun and all, but 15 shows would get repeatitive even with all the guests they say they are bringing. Trucks Band will probably show up and be the highlight...which you can see touring small clubs near you. Worth the $ to stream on the internet though.

i think that the fans will see dickey betts live onstage and performing with the allman brothers band this year regardless of what butch or gregg allman are quoted as saying. nothing like saying something wont happen(working the media) to make fans want something all that more(*most* people want what they cant have). also consider this: if they(abb) were to officially announce "special guests" beforehand then the scalping situation(as bad as it already is now) would be/get even worse, imo. for example say that they announced betts and clapton and the specific dates that each were playing. those specific dates tickets would most likely be the ones that are exploited the most by ticket agencies/scalpers.

also as much as i love dickey betts i have to say that his current level of playing doesnt have a thing to do with him drinking alcohol or not drinking alcohol.

his hearing and arthritis have more to do with it.

actually ive heard they are having john hammond. believe it or not they supposedly rehearsed in atlanta for a couple of days recently and are rehearsing songs(covers, though no new originals band penned compositions) theyve not ever played with specific guests in mind. also heard possibly leon russell and bonnie bramlett as they are both going to be in nyc during the run. and several more of duanes friends from back in the day. gonna be lots of guests. probably too many for my tastes but then its not my decision and i wont be there anyway. ill see them on the summer tour.

I've seen Dickey 5 times in the last two years and every time the band and Dickey himself have been top notch so I don't think the drinking is destroying this man. I saw the quotes from Butch, but there are also quotes from Derek saying the opposite, that he almost guarantees the reunion with Dicky. Got to love the guaranteed maybes

Southern California doesn't(and won't get a "run" like the Beacon) get it often, but did in 2005. Southern California and California in general will get theirs on this 40th Anniversary.
