Not a huge fan, but the photography is fantastic!!!I met Tobin and hung out with him at the last Cheese Hornings. We were camped right next to eachother. Great guy...funny and obviously talented. Way to go Tobin.

damn, murphy looks like he just crawled out of a grave... zombie! anyways, saturday's show wasn't nearly as good as the article suggests - that part about "dazed expressions and couldn't quite believe their ears"... well yeah, spot on brendon! however, that was actually me and a bunch of other people wondering what the hell just happened to a band that set fire to the boulder theater the night before. and i didn't make it to the aggie, but i streamed it today and it was also far superior to the fillmore show. i love UM, but the saturday show was simply disappointing.

Murphy sucks at the computer. He should just stay with STS9, and his great bass skills

hey now, you may not like these guys but you might want to consider offering a bit of respek'. They're great musicians if nothing else. A little lacking on the whimsicality and such, but nonetheless they do melt faces.

Phinally a review about a "good" jamband in the scene. No offense but I could care less about sharon jones or Blues and Lasers or City and colurs shows. Making Flippy Floppy would have been epic to see them play. One of my favorite talking heads songs. I like the new cd even though a lot of people disagree.

What a great way to kick off 2009!!! I attended all three of the shows and I would have to say that Boulder was absolutly on FIRE. All in all it was a great start off the new material they have and I am excited for what the future brings. The Sunday show with 30DB with Brenden and Jeff Austin at the Walnut Room was also a great time. Is was a perfect end to a great week.

i'm jealous of anybody who was at these shows. anxiously counting the days til the pageant and summercamp

Sounds like an awesome run...lights look fantastic. Probably gotta give them a little time to weave in their new tunes with cohesive force and clarity. Can't wait for 2 nights at the Murat!

The sound was better at the boulder theater over the fillmore but I thought Saturday was amazing. Even my wife was blown away and she tends to get annoyed when jamming Umph in the house. Its a bit to prog for her traditional taste. I went to one show on the new years run as well with old phish phriends and they also were very impressed. A must see live at a good price! Finkle- I'm older than anyone in the band "as far as your punk kids comment" and just got phish tix today so see ya there bud. Give it a rest with your ignorance dude.

I was at both Boulder and Fillmore, both shows were top notch examples of why Umphreys is not slowing down, not ever giving up. Just evolving into a new state. Many people , even loyal fans, do not like the new album, which is sick. Many say its too poppy, but the vocals have come out quite amazingly on this album, and it was done all ANALOG!!!!!only Umph would do that. People can hate all they want, but like Finkle and old tymer said, stop that ingnorance because it only hurts the entire scene. Umph tour this Summer 20 shows no less See ya'll there PEACE out bradas and broads,BE WELL

Wish I was there. I've listened to 1/22 and it is good. The new tracks need some time to gel cuz' they do have great potential for future jaw-dropping moments. What I love about UM songs is that not only do they require an incredible amount of precision and exactness every night when played, but the tunes also are flexible enough for the band to interject space and texture during the most seemly rigid and inflexible moments of their tunes. Mantis has much of the musical elements that take me there time and time again with UM music. Love live UM!

BTW, how sick is track 10 from Mantis? I can't wait to hear 1348, Spires, and Mantis live. Cemetery Walk from the CD release party was great. Tons of potential live from many Mantis tunes.

The CO run was my 3-5th time seeing UM and i gotta say that I really like this band! If Phish doesnt bring the total heat and face melting at Hampton, then Ill be done with those boys and spend my energy with UM, and yes, Ive seen Phish 56 times, so i know what Phish heat and face melting is all about, they just havent done it since pre-hiatus, excluding a show here and there, and their last Hampton show was the WORST Phish show EVER, so the boys owe us big time!

i agree completly with all those who say most um haters are just affraid...it is quite intimidating. they bring the heat. it will hit you in the face like bolt of electricity. those who hate should embrace. they will catch on.

The after-show at Cervantes blew UM away......Stephen Perkins, Tony Franklin, Willie Waldman, with the Guitar and Keys players from UM....Not sure their names, but the talent level(of those 3) at Cervantes was just far beyond what was going on at the Fillmore.

Also.......this ones for UMPH.....Fuckin' headline RED ROCKS this summer...I saw u open for Mule..should've been 180'd..even though u cant mess with Warren. And yes Umphreys can be intimidating to people who prefer the sniles and sunshine side of things, but UMPH is a real band of real people, that work REALLY fuckin' hard to be where their at.They've been paying dues for over ten years, give them a little more credit then a dance party STS9 show.PEACE
