U-Melt Winter Tour

U-Melt's 2009 Winter Tour will kick off on Thursday, January 22nd at Mulcahy's's in Wantagh, NY and conclude during the last weekend of February when U-Melt returns to Phildelphia's North Star and a stop at Hunter Mountain for the first annual Winter Jam. In between, U-Melt will be returning to some of their favorite spots in the Northeast, including Boston, S. Burlington, Baltimore, Ithaca, Albany/Troy, Syracuse and Northampton, as well as debuts at Maxwell's in Hoboken, The Ocean Mist in Wakefield, RI and The Fairfield Theater Company in Fairield, CT.

U-Melt will also appear at B.B. King Blues Club in New York City on Friday, April 10th, where they will perform an Umphrey's McGee After Party, following Umphrey's show at Nokia Theater earlier that night. This show will mark the second installment of the pairing of U-Melt and their very good friend Wyllys. U-Melt will be reuniting with Wyllys on a progressive series of events that touch on different aspects of electronic music. The two artists will perform interlocking sets with the middle set focused on particular styles of beats native to the areas they play. In Chicago this past December, the pairing riffed on legendary Chicago house music and in New York, they will drop some drum and bass like they use to at Concrete Jungle.

I am totally stoked that these guys are playing so many shows in the carolinas. considering i live in the middle of nc, i get to go see them at least twice if not three times. i had seen these guys a time or two before moe.down this year, but after these guys tore up there sets there i will never miss them again. awesome live show, i suggest everyone get out to these venues and support some pretty solid new live music.

Does anybody know anything about this Winter Jam at Hunter Mountain? There's nothing anywhere besides Facebook and this site (which is always way behind on news).

caught these guys over new years and was very under-whelmed with the performance. they win my award for 'most notes played'. seemed like all the guys were going off on their own noodle-fest without a lot of cohesion. don't get me wrong, the seem like a talented bunch but they need to learn that space, texture, and dynamics can take jams to places that a barrage of notes cannot.

Absolutely love these guys!! They have been on fire lately and this Winter Tour will be sick!! Every band has an off night, so I'd suggest at least giving them another chance. Shows are like $10!! Also anyone that wishes to offer street team help can e-mail umeltstreetteam@gmail.com. Very excited for this tour!!

Their instrumental songs are pretty interesting but there vocals are incredibly weak. Also, the 5 points pub in Columbia SC is now the Sudworks Taphouse or some shit.

i have heard some rather uninspired shows of theirs on the archive, but after seeing their incredible latenight set at summercamp last year i know what they're capable of and i'm always rooting for them. i really hope they make it back to camp because i'm definitely not driving all the way to any of these dates.

Radio Ryan

I have to make some words!!! Yes, they play many notes, granted. Yes, their vocals could use some work (Bisco?) but if you listen to Question Matters, or Sequel, or 415, and if you have any appreciation for "progressive rock" then you'll know what I'm talking about. Yeah, they have UM attributes, they have Bisco traits, they have STS9 parts, they have great instrumentals, but they have so much potential, and they are working their asses off, so DON'T BE HATERS. Have you checked out their last 2 Halloween shows? Bloody Brilliant! I'm sold.

Rember when you could go see a great band for not much cash and leave a show blown away and happier than a pig in shit? Now is the time, Umelt is the band, do yourself a favor and check these guys out. They are whats good about the music scene.

I agree with Radio Ryan - Listen to Question Matters, and that alone will make you go "whoa"... it's deep. Other favorite songs of mine include ART I and ART II, Folded, Red Star (this will have you moving at top notch rate), Panacea... okay i'll stop there. But just a few suggestions to look up on the archive coming from a die-hard U-Melt fan. Seriously, these guys are righteous rockers, and you should absolutely checking them out. Growing and Evolving, you never know what treats you'll get in a show. For a ticket price as cheap as theirs, it is totally worth it.

Why can't we get a UM after show a little closer? I am talking Wescot Theater!
