wasn't phish officially banned from red rocks for their outrageous 4-night run in like '99? like, phans were camping on the side of the road in the canyon and shit, morrison was overrun with hippies, and the cops were in full riot gear and what-have-you.

leave it to phish to start their first tour in how many years at the most uncool place (jones beach)on the planet, im from NYC and i can tell you that. there is no parking lot, no drinking, cops on hoarses and people getting arrested left and right i was there 3 times this summer and i wish i never had to go back, meanwhile if your not sitting on the floor good luck hearing anything. that place is so windy it sounds like shit no matter where you go, unless your first 25 rows. and yes people, not 1 night but 2!!! yippie!! and guess what!! instead of a headie phish festival we get Bonnarrooooooooooooooooo! cant wait to see round room and mexican cousin enchores!!! all you next-generation 16 year old phish fans who has never seen them..here comes your heaven!

Googled Rothbury 2009 and this link below came up. Still trying to make it happen at the Double JJ in 2009 - likely in July again. Would work for Phish.

if me and the crew can get tix for the last for shows this summer is gonna be most excellent. i live in buffalo and the last three stops are each 5 hours from each other. although im keeping the faith that i will see a four day run in the middle of nowhere in a field or maybe an old airforce base or something near the end of summer.

Decent tour, I like the end of tour especially since I have relatives that live 30 min from alpine. But, personally I don't like the gap between the hampton shows. IMO I was expecting a little more dates so the tickets wouldn't be so hard to get.

Tour schedule is far from ideal - still very rockstar to say OPERATION EVERYSHOW.

Not even factoring northern dates,Bonnaroo to St. Louie is a mere 375 miles.

The drive from St. Louie to Burgettstown is almost 600 miles, still recovering from bonnaroo.

The drive from Burgettstown to Noblesville is 350 miles in one day, for one show, wtf?

The drive from Noblesville to Alpine Valley is 275 miles in one day.

These shows are going to absolute chaos. The "Kind Veggie Shows" are a thing of the past, the only reason The Dead or Phish got away with it for as long as they did is because theye were somewhat under the radar. Its 2009, those days are gone. Have fun, but for your own sake, be careful. This tour and the Dead tour are gonna be crawling with cops, I dont care where you see them. That being said, I enjoy themselves!

Deer Creek one day then alpine valley is gonna sold out so fucking quick. I live right by deer creek and I don't know if I can get a ticket for one day. I understand the reasoning but do they realize how many people are gonna be in the lots at these shows. THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS. I know they're playing it safe for now but prospects of getting a ticket are pretty slim.

My soul just ignited. A little trick on getting the Alpine tickets, go for the 2nd night first(if your buying tix thru ticketmaster's general onsale date). So long as your willing to sit in the lawn the first night, you'll end up in the first 15 rows for the second night. I have no "scientific proof" this will work, however, it's never failed me before when getting phish alpine tickets for a multi-night run. I like to think of it as working your way twords the front(if you wanna keep it optimistic) GOD, IT FEELS SOOOOOOO GOOD TO BE BACK ON THE TRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Clearly there wont be a lot of back to back shows for people at different venues because the locations are spread out.

I like how they staggered the tour schedule so the tour rats won't over run these venues.....we all need to realize the Phish tours in the 90's pissed off a ton of local officials and was making it tough for Phish to play anywhere without a ton of issues (some there fault, most not) ...they need to dip their toes back in the water and reassure the happenings in the 90's won't reoccur. This is just the first step back....u may not like the venues or schedule this summer (limited) but I bet we get the tour schedule we all know and love next year after they have proven they are back musically

SMOKEY- for the first time ever I agree with you. Had my "experience" with the deer creek golf-cart security patrol a few years back, and vowed not to return there ever again (which i havn't). They literally took our weed, pipes, cooler, beer, and our tickets to the show that night. They told us if we wanted the tix back, we needed to goto the security table once the show had started, and they would sell them back to us for face value. Actually, if you want the entire story, I was with 2 other people, me and 1 other were 21, the 3rd was 20(about a week shy of 21). ANYHOW, we were sitting next to our car when the pig-patrol rolled up and demanded to see our ID's. Me and the other guy who who were 21 showed them our ID's(we were both drinking), and so did the 3rd person, who was NOT DRINKING, nor doing anything illeagle. We were told that since we had beer and a person under 21 with us, they need to search the car, or place 2 of us under arrest for contributing to delinqu. of a minor. We were really not too sure what to do, so, they went thru the car and found a bag of weed, 2 pipes, and 3 awsome tickets to the show that night. fast-foward about 20 minutes, and they wanted our tickets to the next nights show as well, which we didn't even have(we were only able to goto the middle of the 3 night run). After they did everything but strip search us(they were really pissed we didn't have tix to the 3rd night), they informed us about re-selling our tickets. That's the truth, so PLEASE, DO NOT tell me I was being stupid, more like, THE COPS WERE BEING CURRUPT. 100% true story, I'll take a polygraph on it. ALSO, I wasn't the first person on here to bitch about the deer creek security, so tell everyone else like you just told me.

This is great news no doubt, but I think Phish is putting themselves in a very precarious position. As many phish lovers are gonna get left out of this tour as are able to go and the people who do make it are all gonna have friends that can't get in. West coast dates are certainly on the way but us east coasters are gonna get blue balls out of this. 11 shows... Rude Comparisons: 19 shows from The Dead this year (with half of them getting SS checks), 55 shows from the Rolling Stones in 05/06, 45 shows already announced from DSO this year, 11 shows from the Allman Brothers in NYC in March.....Are these other sweet bands just spoiling us?

I'm from St. Louis and I've seen many shows at the Fox. They're is a reason why they call it the Fabulous Fox. It is beautiful! Perfect venue for Phish. I've been wishing for this since I started going to shows in '96. Why so much hatred from one Phish fan to the next? If you think you are too good for Phish since the hiatus, please don't go. Why is everyone crying there's no west coast? It's just a few dates, it's only for June and it's obvious there's much more to come! It's obvious Red Rocks is on, as is Gorge and maybe Shoreline later in the summer, and since Phish is an east coast band it makes sense they're starting their tour in the east (and this is a San francisco phish fan talkin).

It truly baffles me how some people can lose track of whats going on. Its sad to see that a lot of people are losing sight of whats important here, the band and what they do for us. I don't believe that Phish belongs to any one person or any certain group of people. They broke barriers and became innovaters to avoid all of this. Simple minds think simple. For any of you to say that this is "my band" or "our band", you're no better than the other fools making rediculous posts on here. I can't believe that we've waited for this for over four years and people are still bitching! Having seen the band countless times, I don't feel that I belong there anymore than the next person. If that's what turns them on, rock and roll then. Just let it go and do your thing. Why worry so much about everyone else? People that worry about this stuff are the people that are the first to point fingers if something bums their show out. What I did hate was many of the "heady folks" who attended Phish shows. Cavernmandan did just lay it down. Too many people at the end were just there for the scene(which was really starting to suck) instead of the magic that Phish makes on stage. Lets get back to that chill scene from back in the day. I'm there to party just as much as the next guy, but I wouldn't be there if the music wasn't so important to me. If your just going on tour for the scene and the drugs, please stay home. Thats not what its all about. People are talking alot of shit to Mimiluv, I understand everybody is happy to see Phish again, But does noone care that Mike Gordon took a 9 year old kid out of the venue, to do, who knows what.

I saw some people at Dead shows give their kids acid and lock them in the motorhomes. While the kids are screaming for hours.

I live in Santa Barbara where there was this famous commune in the hills, in the 60s and 70s. Everybody talks like it was such a marvelous thing, when all the kids were getting fucked by one of the main men living there.

Did anybody think to ask this 9 year old what happened? From what I heard, he was taking pictures of her that were in no way distatseful and after investigation, the parents of the child said he did nothing wrong. Maybe just bad judgement in taking her out of the venue. Everytime that I have seen Mike Gordon at venues, as far back as Big Cypress, he has been photographing or video taping. If you are financially stable(assuming you worked hard for it)...wouldn't seeing Phish for the first time on their reunion, all the memories and overall experience be priceless? I have not seen phish and I am loser, ok im glad that is understood but I have waited just as much as anyone else here...I do want to see phish for the same reasons as yourself and everyone else. Not all 'newbies' are going there to be 'cool'. Do you think I want to pay the high price? NO but that was the only way... i'll take some of the blame but look at the asshole scalper. J.Abe - i agree, if people are going to do drugs and act a fool, stay home. But to clear one thing, cavemandan did mention that the 'scene' is important, "...about brotherhood, sisterhood, love, peace and kindness." Nobody can ever take that element away from the 'JAM' scene.

J.ABE- I think it was just the whole thing of a person's kid dissappearing, them panicing, and then reacting when the found the kid getting thier picture taken by someone they didn't know. I'm not a parent, but I imagine that would really piss you off. I don't think Gordo's a pet-her-ass myself, just a little dumb for doing that. it's ok, though, we all make dumb decisions from time to time.(although his almost cost him his life, based on what I know about Hell's Angels).

Its part of what makes band like the Grateful Dead and Phish unique and special. I think there were times when there were as many people outside the show as inside. I'm just saying don't make the scene what you come for, let that be a bonus to what goes on inside the venue. I love phish but they could take a cue from the Stones or Rush when it comes to their tour schedule...

The difference is the stones and rush play the same pre-rehearsed show night in and night out. Phish doesn't. I want a longer tour too, but they're just getting back into playing together. Lets let them work at they're own pace and not get burnt out again. If things go well with the music and the scene this time around, I'll bet they are back to their pre-hiatus tour schedule by Fall '09

I didn't know about this software hack, but TicketsNow is the most fucked up shit ever. Ticketmaster is allowed to monopolize this business and scalp their own tickets.
