awesome show. awesome review. great way to capture the mood and anticipation of this show within the greater context of what this band is trying to do. thought that it was appropriate that it combined almost equal parts show and future, as this band being as excited as they are for this album makes me excited for the possibilities of future shows. again thank you for this awesome review

From what I've read and heard this show was aweful. The 28th's were it's at! They were on fire that night. The only thing that is keeping me excited for the new album is that, "five of them are produced by Simon Posford and Benji Vaughaun." Those tracks will be awesome.

I had tickets to the 30th and 31st and decided to trade them for the UM run in chicago for monetary purposes. I was very sceptacle but after reading reviews of new years i feel like i may have made the right choice. I also got to catch tdb show on the 28th so it looks like i caught the best of both worlds. That sunday night show is the heat from beginning to end.

Great article! Nice to hear some more info on the new album...sounds pretty hawt! As for the new songs they played in Jamaica and Nokia, they aren't my favorite to say the least, but I am sure they will grow on me. Many of them sound like STS9 songs, which to me isn't good, but once fused into transitions, I'm sure people will appreciate them more.

As for the Nokia, best sound system I've ever heard i think. The security sucked balls though, had quite a few friends get kicked out over the run.

As for the show, I was only at 26-28, with the 28th blowing the roof off. I heard NYE wasn't that great, esp. the last set. But the first two sets are pretty awesome!

can't wait to hear Biscuits produced by Simon and Benji....that shit will be off the hook!

NYE was terrible! was this guy really at the same show? worst biscuits show ive ever seen. i think its the first time ive ever heard fans actually BOOOING. from start to finish the show sucked, no energy, noone was playing together, jazzy vasilios?? more like i forget the chords vasilios. and omg the 3rd set??? the rapping orthodox guy? was the worst thing i think ive ever seen live. im sorry people i love me some biscuits but this show was bad bad bad start to finish. and the sad thing is not only was the 28th EPIC but all 4 shows prior to NYE was really good. just wish i went to the garden or even mule on NYE, much MUCH more fun this pile if steaming crap, i wouldnt even download it and listen to it again thats how bad. but the 28th? listend to it 3 times already

it is possible that all the other shows were better, but that doesn't mean that this show is as bad as you think it is; first two sets were really good

sorry i disagree i thought the whole show was bad including the first 2 sets, if i had to pick a highlight it was truckers choice and thats it, one song.i remember thinking after the first set, dam that was WEAK but at least we have 2 more sets!! yeah right!!! listen to the countdown it was horrible!! i mean 5 nights you expect at least one night to be off, too bad it was new years...too bad it was all 3 sets. listen to last new years, doesnt even compare. i know like 15 people that went and everyone was super disapointed after the show

man out of a five night run from one of the biggest jam bands on the scene they review one night. super fucking weak. saturday and sunday were the shiiit. im only saying that cause i was there. wish i could have gone to all five nights.

These were some of the best shows I've seen in years. The band absolutely jammed out. They broke out a slew of new songs that were some of the best stuff they've written in years. The guitar work by Barber was a thousand miles and hour and totally off the hook. The best psychedelic music I've sen in years. It totally passes the acid test. Oh yeah and there were tons of hot chicks

By the way a big FU to anyone who wasn't there and hated on Nw Years. It was aone of the best shows I've ever seen on New Years. The only reason anyone would bag on it was because they wanted to hear song stupid song and didn't or maybe they are one of the haters that impress their friends by being over everything. The 28th was great too. They were jammiing. they were bringing the songs beyond this realm where no poser can survive.

My Morning Jacket sucks ass and didn't even sell out. This band is the real thing. Many of you posers should go home and blast your crappy Nos albums and shut the F up. Bisco owns all of you and you'll never compete so you attempt tp be a hater. The refuge of all sell out pop stars who won't be partying with us in five years once there wives take over their life.

Also, Bisco couldn't even get half the people to MSG that MMJ got. MMJ has more talent in on member than all of these guys. It's not hard to be great when you play the same tunes a hundred times a year. The Bisco played 86 unique setlist last year. How many have you played poser.

say what you will about 1st and 3rd sets, 2nd set delivered and personally that's all I really came for. Of course the new songs aren't going to be as tight, but listen to any of a number of your favorite songs when they were first played and I promise they won't sound as good as they do now. Even Brownie said Basis wasn't Basis until they played it 200-some times.

Is it me or is this guy stuck so far up Barber and Brownie's asses that he missed this show all together?? Just for the record, I enjoy the Biscuits, have seen them for many years, and have attended more than a couple of their New Year events. This is why I felt this show was such a disappointment and if it wasn't for the fact of being w good people, I probably wouldn't of had a good time at all.

I understand wanting to get your new material out and wanting people to like it, but to play ALL of it on your NYE show and for the 3rd set??! Come on now, there is a difference between playing the new songs during the entire run to get people acclimated to them through out the previous 4 nights and ramming it down your throat all at once on New Years. (which they did both of)

The sad thing is, if you could have taken any 2 sets from any of the previous nights of this run and replaced them with any 2 of the 3 sets of NYE, the show would have been EPIC! Guess they blew it out too hard, the previous nights and maybe a 5 night-run is too much for this band.

Break-down set by set just seemed like they could not get it together and I just kept waiting for take-off, just to be mellowed back into some psychedelic noodling>new song= LET DOWN. 1st set with that "jazzy" Vassilios; if off-beat, groggy, and out of sync w each other is now Jazzy, sure that sounds about right. Saving grace of the set was Trucker's Choice, Caterpillar, but what should you expect when your band members are still sleeping 15 min before show time. 2nd set was the best set of the show, but a mediocre one when comparing them to sets from previous nights.

At least the author of this story realized that Billy Goat-yahoo pretty much ruined the Magellan right when the set was starting to take off, but the band completed the let down by ending their New Years show with M80. Then NugHuffer for an encore, love the song, but not as an encore.

As I said I am a fan, and I am not trying to hate, but when you could see this band pushing the envelope, tapping into a greater energy force and taking shit to places you couldn't even imagine, in tight unison like a synchronized psychotropic machine, this show was a Disappointment and a big FUUUURRRRNNT!!!!!!! You can only realize how bad it can get when you know how good it could be.

And for all this talk about talent and MMJ, can those two word even be written in the same sentence? I guess I need to cook eggs w no shirt on in KY or wear tight emo jeans so my nuts turn into a vagina, like all these other wanna-be hollywood pre-madonnas to get it, but I just don't. This must be the same fan-base running around w your Wilco shirts on and messed hair that took an hour and a half to get just right. If you personally don't like the music then fine, but respect the fact that the band is continuing to reach new heights and push the bar higher. Bisco's tour 09 tour so far tops a lot of other tours right now imo and when bisco keeps touring their playing is a lot less sloppy. Their playin Texas for christ's sake.

The bottom line is that I had the most amazing week with mostly good people at my favorite venue in NYC. I was looking forward to this article (WHICH IS GREAT and covers it perfectly).

I have to admit I have quite a few friends that were at those shows. I don't particularly understand why they like this band so much - the video on the previous page does not impress upon me their intellect nor depth. With that said, it is true.... the only thing worse than a Disco Biscuit show is one where Matisyahu performs with them. God, I almost puked on my PC looking at those pics.
