To hear Space Wrangler the first set was the BEST Christmas present. We had 30 peeps from Eugene and Wyoming there and when Jeff and Dave came out for ALG > Who do you belong to? and Fixin to die... maaaan... the place went nuts! Such a kick-ass time!

Corey - I've seen WSP over 150 times in the past 15 years. I still love them, but I picked MMJ this year and I'm glad I did! Why can't you love both? Why do you have to be "lost group of people over there" if you're a MMJ fan too? I'm telling ya, I love the boys, but I haven't seen a show like the MMJ NYE show in a long time from WSP. If they can start rockin' it again like MMJ did for me NYE, I'll catch 'em next time they're in the southeast in Charleston, Charlotte or ATL. But I'll travel for MMJ!! Open up babe! You should listen to that CD of yours again. In fact, just skip it and download the NYE show from Like most, the live shows make it.

Thanks for the photos! I bet it was even colder in Denver than NYC! 20 degrees and snowing!

^ I agree. I love both WSP and MMJ. MMJ puts on one hell of a show. I've been seeing panic since '95 and MMJ since 2002. I did Denver this NYE but damn, that MSG show looked SICK! If only I could have been in two places at the same time.....

as sick as the combination of wsp and ymsb must have been. next year i would hope ymsb would headline their own NYE party (preferably in the midwest [i don't think i could take another NYE with UM])

^YMSB plays NYE at the fillmore in denver.

This show doesnt' even need a review, setlist tells the tale, it was SOOOO nasty, space wrangler first set was sick, thats why I love panic.

To all the southern folks who were bitching about the denver location, that wasnt so bad was it?

Thank you WSP for another memorable night/year, see you same place next year? I hope so.

Try "it still moves", one of MMJ's earlier albums, much more southern/roots rock, much less of the electronic funk direction the band has gone since then. I didn't like Z or the new one that much either, but "it still moves" is still steady in my rotation. good band.

Us "Southern Folks" were bitching because, over the years, we've gotten old, married, produced offspring, etc. (not so easy just to buy a ticket and head out of town these days). It sure was nice at least having a Panic show or two we could depend on at the end of the year. But, Broesau, usuns are sure glad you got your boogy on.

corey, who the fuck are you that we should care about your opinion? music is subjective and lots of people have different opions, who the fuck are you and what credentials do you have to make you a music expert, i have never heard of you, what band are yo in? who do you run sound for? what record label do you work for? everybody has an opinion i am confused as to why yours matters more than everybody else who doesnt like mmj and keeps it to themselves

anyway gotta love the boys cant wait to hear this show

great show! how bout that second night!?! they played the first 9 "original" space wrangler songs in order!!! i couldnt beleive it. and a "gimme"(12/30)!!! holy shit. these pictures dont do any justice to the stage design that night. they had a skyline pic of denver flipped upside down with trees hanging from the ceiling and clouds on the stage, unreal. also, on the 30th, they played a sick ass "the other ones" jam that was nothing short of badass. i really want a review on this, both nights

I agree with c00lmike, you do look like an ass, as you did on the MMJ thread. Yes this is Jambase, but in many interviews JB has told people that he himself does not consider Panic a "jamband", so why are they reviewed. I like both bands, but I will say that I have seen many more coked up fools at one panic show than all of the times I have seen MMJ. Don't hate dude, just come up with a more constructive comment(s) before you post anything.

PS- If you don't have an opinion on this forum like you say, then don't take the time to write one. Also, this show looks pretty badass.

This show looks sweet. I haven't seen Yonder in way too long, but those boys bring the heat time in and time out. I've seen Panic twice. I was far from impressed the first time (10KLF 2005) and liked them a lot more this past summer at All Good. Anyone have any recommendations for live or studio albums I should get my hands on to discover what all the fuss about Widespread Panic is? I'm keeping an open mind in 2009.

Corey - You're a close-minded, judgmental fool! Who ever said that just b/c this is that all the bands they cover have to be in whatever misguided idea of the "jam" genre you've created. Look at the articles up there right now - Femi Kuti is Afrobeat, the Lee Boys are R&B/Gospel, and John Paul Jones...well anyone who'd clump that legend into a simple "jam" genre is a moron. The site is called "Jambase - Go See Live Music"! Therefore, it's about live music, ALL live music, ALL music of EVERY genre - not just what your obviously young mind considers "jam" - which in my opinion is a completely over-used title that is now so broad it doesn't even have an identity anymore.

My point is - complain to your mama if you want, but quit clogging up the comment threads w/ so much stupidity that smart music veterans like myself feel compelled to set your juvenile butt straight!

MMJ, WSP and YMSB all rock! Yea, I said it!

Wild Turkey

WoW, Jimmy flat pickin with Jeff & Adam, sickest Fixin since ARU. I have to give props to the Pepsi Center (cant believe I am saying that) security was super chill from what I could see on the floor. Sound was great for that size room and the stage set-up really brought the room together (no selling seats behind the stage and moving it up). they could have sold more tix but didnt and that is amazing. So much music so little time, you guys realize our country is one big fucking festival, quit bitching and

see as much music as you can. Whats wrong with kids these days? I wish i could have seen every NYE show but i was damn lucky to have PANIC in my backyard!

100% hate-free post:

Great pix! We decided to go to Hot Buttered Rum for NYE this year. It was freakin' incredible, but from what I've been hearing, it sounds like we would've had a blast at YMSB/Panic, too! We stayed at The Crowne Plaza Hotel, which I'm pretty sure achieved lift-off during BoobBox's late-night set. I saw a lot of pupils and very few irises, if you catch my drift :)

People always delete me on this - but I'll talk anyways. Atlanta is wild for NYE with Panic/ Denver, everything was quiet and closed by 1:30. Beautiful town, but dead for NYE except in the non ventilated hotel rooms. Yonder was good, but their sound just isn't meant for a HUGE Auditorium- WHILE opening for a LOUD HARD Band= Widespread Panic. Dont get me wrong before you delete me. Good shows on Both bands behalf, Glad they tried somethin new>but it wasnt the energy I paid for. Next year I'm out.

you may be right, Denver has an early last call, and doesn't rage quite as hard as atl on NYE. But, the show on NYE wasn't over til 2:30, so I don't know what you were doing in the bars at 1:30. Plus, there was all kinds of late night action, like "BoobBox", (nice) as mentioned above, Westin, etc. Personally, I was too damn tired after that looong (2 hrs plus?) panic second set & encore, and was glad to go home.

PS, boobs and box are like my two favorite things, i should check those guys out.

alright corey, and any other of you myopic listeners (good use of that word man, props) you said you got mmj's cd, listened to it ONCE and then lost it cuz you hated it so much.

i am sorry but some of my absolutely most TREASURED and loved pieces of music, i had to listen to more than once to really like at all. like, shit man, i'm talkin like 5-6 FULL listens. hell i can discover new meaning to certain music every time i listen to it. you need to read up on some opinions of people you can respect (i.e. your precious keller, franti, umphreys, benevento/russo, phish, pgroove, the list goes on...) for some really spectacular insights. all these guys have a very open outlook on music, and their many influences obviously show up the music they play, that you underclassify as "JAM"
