JamBase | Forever Ago Go See Live Music!
123All
great band & well written article. I'm glad Bon Iver got the jambase 2 night treatment...Wish I could've been there...
NELL!!!!!
POOP!!!!!!!!
i hate it when i keep reading about a great new artist and all i say is "I'll check them out later". All year i've been hearing about Bon Iver and this is the first time i heard their music. This stuff is freakin GREAT!
Now I'm sure I'll go to their site and see that they came through my hometown like two months ago.
DAMN! they played the che cafe in march. by the looks of that video that was they last time they'll be playing a venue that small in southern cali.
Hey Hotchkiss, your JamBase Editor friend Kayceman here, i feel your pain, and that's why we created "Show Alerts," not sure if you are aware of this feature, but if you go to My JamBase and "track" Bon Iver, every time he announces a show in your area you will get an email and never miss a show! You may already know this, but figured i'd remind anyone who didn't... Happy Holidays peeps.
Great Shots!
Falsetto voice. Ugh. To me this seems like such faux folk - contrived music. That said, it seems to move a lot of people and that is all you can ask for.
Honestly, I thought the same thing as Shirls when I saw him at sxsw in march. But if you give this album some time, it just takes you somewhere else and you get lost in the simple honesty of the words and music. Very nice reviews and pics.
I know Kayceman, i just never got around to checking them out to see if i wanted to add them to my favorites.
Bon Jovi...Bon Jovi.....I dunno who the hell this Bon Iver is.
Anyone that thinks this music is faux-folk or whatever the hell you want to label it as, just take a listen to the cd. Someone at my restaurant gave me the emma cd ::I think:: and it's pretty good. He went to the philly show and absolutely loved it. Tallest man on earth though, CHECK him out, awesome fingerpicker, and for a swede, he sure can sing folk music.
dig it
I guess this music has to grow on you. It's still in infancy with me.
It's not bad. Just seems like the "flavor of the month" to me though. With the whole "moniker" thing that's hip in the indie world. This music has it's place for sure, but it belongs on an indie site more than jambase. Maybe I shouldn't think that way, but it's frustrating to me that all the "hipster indie" kids absolutely RIP APART anything that's labeled "jam" and that NO jam bands get ANY respect in indie magazines or sites. I guess maybe opening our ears to all different sounds makes our community stronger though. I don't know...Anyone else have any thoughts on the topic?
