GRACE POTTER AND THE NOCTURNALS
ROCK THE (OPERA) HOUSE WITH NEW DIGITAL EP RELEASE LIVE FROM SKOWHEGAN

Grace Potter & the Nocturnals
Hailed as one of today's most exciting live bands, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are set to release their first-ever live recording, Live From Skowhegan. Culled from a concert given at the Skowhegan Opera House in Skowhegan, Maine, on June 27 of this year, the EP features Grace and the band performing two new songs "Can't See Through" and "Sugar"" as well as four favorites from their two previous studio albums. Live From Skowhegan will be available for download on iTunes and other digital outlets December 23, 2008.

Produced, written and arranged by the band, Live From Skowhegan includes six tracks: "Ragged Company," "Stop The Bus," "Apologies," "Ah Mary," "Can't See Through" and "Sugar." Based in Burlington, VT, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals have made a name for themselves as one of New England's most popular bands, so it was only fitting they record a debut live EP in their home region.

The Skowhegan concert came as part of a yearlong headlining tour that took the band all over the country. Led by 25-year-old singer/songwriter/Hammond organ virtuoso Grace Potter, the quartet has earned countless fans and critical raves with their 2007 Ragged Company/Hollywood CD This is Somewhere. Guitarist Scout Tournet, bassist Bryan Dondero and drummer Matthew Burr round out the lineup.

Don't miss your chance to experience Grace Potter and The Nocturnals live. The remaining tour dates for 2008 are as follows:

12/28/08 Sun Higher Ground Burlington, VT (w/ Phonograph)
12/29/08 Mon Higher Ground Burlington, VT (w/ Akron/Family)
12/31/08 Wed Higher Ground Burlington, VT (w/ Barbacoa)
01/04/09-01/07/09 Jam Cruise Fort Lauderdale, FL

I agree Jimmy. I've given them multiple chances at Fests, but they have never done enough to keep me from looking for better music elsewhere. But to those who dig them, enjoy

jimmy row-there aren't too many bands out there that write, self produce, sing, & play an intrument. This band is an organic brand of Rock N' Roll.

I have seen the band a handful of times and each show has been amazing and full of energy. They connect with the crowd and have fun doing it.

I just saw them up in Burlington, VT on the late nite saturaday show with 150 people in the crowd and they rocked it like they were playing in front of 10,000 people.

As the Great Bonnie Raitt put it:

"One of the most soulful new bands around.”

– Bonnie Raitt

Grace and the Nocturnals are definately worth checking out!

Love this band! Can't wait to download!

For what its worth: From what I've seen of them, their "an evening with" shows are much better than their festival sets.

Ummmm, hello, Mr. publicist (this is not a story or an article) who wrote this press release ..... probably someone who works for Hollywood records, the bands major label ..... check out the bands' website - this is the bands second (2) live EP - NOT "... their first-ever live recording ..."

I do realize that this is small potatoes in the grand scheme, but I don't think that shit like that should be allowed to slip through the cracks.

Otherwise, I myself will be one to DL the live tracks as soon as they are available. Big Gracie fan.

Could it be that they are overhyped because they come from an overhyped place filled with pathological overhypers?

GP + Nocturnals have a really fun and energetic rock and roll show. They're not going to melt your face, but they've got good songs and the chops to back it up. Her organ lends itself to an organic sound and they surely increase the appeal of any festival bill.

just another example that sex sells. these guys are OK, but not all that. too much good stuff out there to put them on the top of the heap, unless you're looking up a dress.......

First of all this band gets a bad rap because "yes" there lead singer is very, very good looking its a fact now lets move beyond that shall we. The Band as a whole is very good, and yes that includes Ms.Potter who can play guitar and organ and sing and write as well. Every member of this band can play circles around many acts out right now, and should be praised for doing things there own way, and writing and composing all there own songs. This is a great band that plays great tunes, they play day in and out with tons of emotion and if you can't get beyond the fact that Grace is good looking, well that is crappy considering there all so good. GPN is more than Grace even though she is as wonderful as she is.

Hey BenHuman, I'm curious; you took a swipe at Vermont but did not really explain- what exactly do you refer to? No offense meant, but did you have a bad experience in Vermont or something? Got sick on Ben & Jerry's? Mike Gordon snubbed you? Like Mrs. Butterworth's better than the real syrup?

I'm from Vermont, and I cannot see that Grace Potter is particularly overhyped here. For myself, I agree that she and the band have copious talent- not my cup of tea exactly (I'll take Etta James, thanks); their fans are less local than you might think. And, yeah, we like Vermont just fine. We have fresh fluffy powder knee deep at the moment. Sorry we disappoint you. And sorry 'bout Coventry, Dude. Seriously.

Thank you for your apologies regarding how Vermont sucks, but a state can't dissappoint me. However, you do.

^^you do not take the time to even hint at the source of your grudge, and your answer stands in direct conflict with your earlier post. A lovely day here in Vermont. If you could see what I see out my window as I type, I believe that you might reconsider your views. Peace.

I think they've lost a little of that je ne sais quoi. I still like them, but another good band out there these days is Elizabeth & the Catapult.
