Louris & Olson Flood Dates

Gary Louris and Mark Olson (of Jayhawks fame) Announce North American Tour
In Support of Their New Album Ready for the Flood Available January 27, 2009

Acclaimed musicians Gary Louris and Mark Olson have announced the first set of North American tour dates that support their new album Ready For The Flood (January 27, 2009 / New West Records). This is the first new music from the pair since Olson left the Jayhawks in 1995. The dates begin February 3 in Ann Arbor, MI and take the duo, performing acoustically, through major North American cities including New York City on February 7, Atlanta on February 13 ending in their home town of Minneapolis, MN on February 21. These dates come off a successful run in Europe where the pair sold out shows in London, Glasgow, Madrid, Barcelona, Utrecht (Holland), Oslo, Gothenburg (Sweden).

Ready For The Flood, received 4 stars in Uncut, Q and Mojo and is considered the to be the Americana Album of the Year in Mojo and the Best Roots Album of 2008 in Q. Produced by Chris Robinson (Black Crowes), Ready For The Flood not only reunites the two old friends but also their unrivaled harmonies and songwriting skills, reviving their unique sound. The results of the reunion are undeniable, as can be read in early praise for the album "These new memories-thank the Americana gods-are riddled with Louris and Olson's past, but there are hints of even older musical moments... The production of Black Crowe Chris Robinson lends grit, but is never intrusive, letting the scruffy melodies and jigsawpuzzle interlocking of these stellar voices do the heavy lifting." Is it just me, or does it seem like there are a lot of new albums w/ "Flood" in the title?

Their recent set at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass was the best I saw that weekend. The harmonies are sooo gooood.

^Hawkleberry, did you happen to catch Dave Alvin & the Guilty Womens' set at HSB? Wondering what you thought of that.

I'm going to try to catch this show at Eddie's Attic.

Thank God for Michigan love...can't wait for the Ann Arbor opener. Didn't make Hardly Strictly this year, D.B., but Dave Alvin is a top 10 favorite of mine and I've seen him w/the Guilty Men on a number of occasions...Guilty Women sounds even better!
