Dave Matthews Band Album/Tour

DAVE MATTHEWS BAND ANNOUNCES SPRING 2009 TOUR
First Studio Album In Four Years Set For April 14 Release
Online Ticket Request Period Begins Today; Tickets Go On Sale January 17 To Public

Dave Matthews
On April 14, Dave Matthews Band returns with its first studio album in four years - and they'll celebrate with a show at New York City's Madison Square Garden that evening. The date will mark the beginning of the band's spring tour, which will include a stop at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (April 26) and wrap up in Las Vegas on May 9. Along the way, Dave Matthews Band fans will be treated to the group's first-ever live performances of songs from the new album. An online ticket request period begins today and continues through January 4th at: www.warehouse.davematthewsband.com.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on January 17 - except for the Nashville show, which goes on sale January 16. Please check with your local venue or ticket retailer for details. See below for the full itinerary and supporting acts.

The band's yet-to-be-titled album is being produced by Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance) and will be released by RCA Records. The record is the follow-up to 2005's Stand Up, the fourth consecutive Dave Matthews Band studio album to enter The Billboard 200 at No. 1. Formed in Virginia in the early 1990's, Dave Matthews Band has sold a collective 35 million units (CD and DVD combined). With over 15 million tickets sold, the group has been named the top-drawing American band in the world by Billboard.

"Their set delivered the goods at Rothbury, and few would argue they didn't make the festival their own," said The Detroit News of Dave Matthews Band's headlining performance at last summer's first-ever Rothbury festival. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette praised the group's show there as "nothing short of inspired and inspiring" while The Oklahoman said: "this is a band that stretches out and thrives in the open air and under the stars."

Dave Matthews Band is Carter Beauford (drums), Stefan Lessard (bass), Dave Matthews (vocals, guitar) and Boyd Tinsley (violin). Saxophonist LeRoi Moore, the fifth original founding member, passed away during the band's summer 2008 tour. Joining the group on the road this spring will be Tim Reynolds on guitar, Rashawn Ross on trumpet and Jeff Coffin on saxophone. They are also featured on the new album.

Nice, hope it's better than Stand Up. Interested and saddened to see how it is going to sound without LeRoi.

Dave Matthews Band on 4/20! That made my week! I was lucky enough to see him on his summer tour this year and it was amazing at the amount of energy the band put out. I can not wait to catch him again!

Nothing even within driving distance of the midwest. Fuck that. I can't wait for this album, but fuck this tour schedule. 2 nights in a row in 5 states, and nothing in the Chicago area.

Is that quote a hint that they are going to be part of Rothbury this summer? There's tons of postive quotes about The DMB, why pick that one? I hope he is, cause I'm not really a fan, and last year it gave me a chance to relax at my campsite before the Rothbury latenight shows, without missing anything that I went there to see. ROTHBURY 2009!!!

marshbt-that's the funniest truthful comment. Mraz playing with the Stones in 2005 was a weird combo and luckily I came after his set to enjoy the Stones, I'm sure it would've put a damp on the whole night. As for DMB, I'm glad they are still kicking out some jams, yeah they get a horrible rap on here, but I have to say that when I was 11yrs old, these guys were the shit and opened up a whole new realm of music for me, for Christ sake, they were the opener for Grateful Dead in 95. They might just play the same ol same ol all the time and their fans may be the biggest wastes of space most of the time, but they are a talented band that will be around for a long time. I haven't really got into them in years, but I still enjoyed the four shows I saw them at. They do have some of the finest ladies at their shows:)

Haven't been into DMB in years. Stand Up was a truly awful album I must admit. I've seen them live 4 time...1996-Cow Palace, 1997-Bridge School, 2002-Providence Civic Ctr., & 2006 @ Bridge School Benefit with Rashawn Ross on Trumpet and they were on fire. I taped these show on a cheesy MP3 player and it's the best live DMB in my collection. Rashawn Ross had the band scrambling around to catch him in some nice jamming early on "Ants Marching". The horn section had a nice jam going into the fake-out ending to "Loving Wings" I think the good news is Tim Reynolds & Rashawn Ross are playing in the band on this tour. We might see more jamming and improv which most older fans of there's like me would like to see. Also seen Dave & Tim acoustic duo 97-Warfield & 2006-Santa Barbara Bowl. More into bands like ALO, Trey Anastasio Band, Ratdoq, Phil & Friends, Big Light, Tea Leaf Green, Yonder Mountain, Culver City Dub, Jack Johnson & Pearl Jam.

I liked DMB fairly well in the 90's. He put on a great show that Neil Young OPENED at Scott Stadium (UVA's football stadium) that I got to go to, among a few other good one's and one that was a real downer. I may just have to check out that Raleigh show with the Avetts and see how he is nowadays.........at least the Avetts should be fired up to play NC.

ill always dig their older albums, as it is a reminder to when i was young, innocent and carefree(good ol' high school)...and some great tunes on those taboot. the last few years though, not so much, have grown away into other realms of music. hopefully this new album doesnt suck. the rothbury show i actually didnt like, dont know why but it just wasnt dmb to me, and in comparison, other bands were way too good.

but is it just me, or does it seem like they havent even taken a break since leroi passed? almost as it never happened, and was quickly replaced. i think i remember hearing cancelling a couple summer shows, but a new album, continuing to be back on the road, you think theyd need to take some time off and relax and reflect. i dont know, maybe its just me.

Wow! The Avetts, Old Crow, and The ROOTS?!? Fantastic! He's done a great job getting some of these lesser known bands in the spotlight. I know he's had Michael Franti, The North Mississippi All-Stars, and Robert Randolph opening for him over the past few years. And from what I understand, RR played a TON with him. And great to see Jeff Coffin is still on-board.

It's too bad my circuits won't allow me to go to a DMB show anymore. The last one I went to [2002, I think], I got threatened by a popped pink collar brigade because Meathead put his beer on the ground and I almost kicked it over, and the time before, I almost got puked on by a wasted 15 year old girl 15 minutes into the show. Needless to say, I had to move. What a crowd.

I agree with vespuchi about taking some time off after LeRoi's passing. Given they did the enitre summer tour last year without him and this new album was already recorded with LeRoi, but this seems really quick after losing a founding member. Either their record label still has that much control over them or they're just road dogs and that's all they know at this point.

sorry to say that I doubt this album will be good. you wanted to see DMB *not* go downhill, and they pick up an old pop-punk producer for their first album with a fully altered lineup? I <3 coffin and TR, and pre-'00 DMB, and I'll be hearing this disc, but - don't expect much, says I.

Album is gonna have Tim Reynolds and Jeff Coffin...It's gonna be sick. The producer has produced random lame shit, but i've watched a few of his interviews and the guy does know what good music is. And if you look at the green day album from a production point of view, he did a great job with it, the music is just crap. He's going to do a good job reguardless of his resume. I think people are going to be stunned by this album.

futhepharmer- that is what I thought. That's why it took me three years to see another DMB concert. Had to say and to my surprise that when I saw him last, the crowd was really chilled and it mostly consisted of 30 to 50 year olds. And that was in Texas. Rock On and cool pic with Warren.

all i want to say is that dmb is creating some of the most purely creative live shows around nowadays. they have a devoted, diverse following, i mean some really good people. caught 13 shows of the summer tour, what a fucking riot!!! people on this site need to get their heads out of their asses, stop with their fucking bias, and enjoy beautiful music. gain some maturity, stop worrying about your jam band scene and enjoy a good jam band show.. dmb is on fire now whether u want to admit it or not... spring tour is going is get out of hand.. already thinking of some heddy recipes and some fire dancer pendants
