Phish: 12/30/07 Now Available

Phish
After a standout show on 12/29/97, Phish gave a loose, funky performance on the second night of their three-night holiday stand at MSG on 12/30 with a show-opening "Sneakin' Sally Thru The Alley" and a playful, non-stop second set that highlighted a sublime "AC/DC Bag," "McGrupp And The Watchful Hosemasters" and "Harpua" which introduced elements of the New Year's Eve Udder Ball gag and Tom Marshall's appearance for Phish's first and only cover of The Proclaimer's "I Wanna Be (500 Miles)." A deep, four-song encore completed a curfew breaking second set.

Paul Languedoc's 2-track soundboard mix, fully remastered by Fred Kevorkian is available now for download at LivePhish.com (MP3 and FLAC) and on CD as part of the LivePhish series, packaged in an innovative and earth friendly (fully recycled) folding softcase digi-pak. The band has also created specially priced bundles for CD+MP3, CD+VIDEO, and FLAC+VIDEO.

Sneakin Sally Through the Alley is a Robert Palmer song. It's before he went into the whole "Addicted to Love" phase. The whole album is great. I'd reccomend checking it out. Thats cool that Phish did a Sneakin' reprise in the encore!

These guys are gonna make me go broke! Roxy was worth every penny, and now I gotta buy this one too!

And I thought it was understood that once Phish offically releases a show, you dont dl it for free..? We all dl enough shows for free, I think it's only fair to toss them a few bucks.. for remastering and all that

Actually Flat 5 and milesgone...you are both right. Sneakin' Sally was first featured on the Robert Palmer album of the same name (an absolute classic btw). But, as far as i know, the song was actually written by Allen Toussaint. However, the Meters and members of Little Feat played all over the Palmer album, as it was produced by Toussaint. I am pretty sure the Meters were Palmer's backing band on that cut.

Sick run, sick show and and totally sick of Phish to suggest I pay more money for my memories...An incredible night, and the first Sneakin' Sally in forever, followed by the reprise but again I digress, I'm still paying for the hotel rooms from that weekend. Actually I was until someone bought my shoddy vhs recording on StubHub for 500 bucks! Looking for new copies, would anyone buying this mind burning me a copy?

Best show I ever saw, and still one of my all time favorite tapes. Nice work, the carini>black-eyed-katie is so nasty. As much of a fan of the moma dance as i am, I always wished they'd bring back the BEK.

Mfgoof,

No one is suggesting you pay more for your memories, your memories are just that: yours. Rather, Phish is offering a high quality recording of this legendary show at a reasonable price, and I don't understand how you can get pissy about that. But then, hippies never cease to amaze me.

it's pretty crazy to think that it has been 10+ years since this amazing show. oh, what a night! just about everything was so sick. the band was so on that night as you can tell from the McGrupp, the Double Sally, Black Eyed Kty...but especially the Ac/DC Bag....stash, a day in the life...this was one amazing night!

still waiting on the Big Cypress DVD and CD package! should the fans start writing phish.com and applying some gentle pressure for this release?

Top three for me ever. They got fined pretty heavily for continuing to play past the curfew but the boys wanted to bring us to NYE the right way. They also reprised the Sally because they felt not everyone had made it into the show yet MSG can be rough.

Phish frontman and guitarist Trey Anastasio commented on the accident. "These kinds of things happen, you know what I mean? Fish just made an honest mistake. He's been passionate about wind power for awhile now, and he's been up there working on that monstrosity in his yard, and I guess he didn't get some bolts tight enough or something, you know what I mean? I'm just happy that Fish is alive."

Fishman was injured when one of the blades on his wind turbine fell free of the structure and flew toward him. In an attempt to escape injury he tripped over the cord of his power drill and damaged his foot.

"I'm just so disappointed," commented Phish's Page McConnell. "He was getting so tight with Mike (Gordon, bassist of Phish). They were like the meat that makes up the Phish sandwich. I feel really bad for all of our fans who were looking forward to this so much. But I'm really just happy he's ok."

Fishman stated that he has no plans to stop construction on his wind turbine, adding that renewable energy sources are more important to society and the world than music. "I just don't think, when you look at everything going on in the world today, that a rock band is really that important. We need to come up with viable alternative energies. When I'm healed up, I'm hoping to power the Phish reunion with wind power. A truly eco-friendly concert could make a difference."

Phish has not rescheduled their reunion concerts yet, but plans are in the works for a summer comeback at Colorado's Red Rocks Ampitheater in July.
