I wonder how many times Michael asked the crowd how they were feeling...

Nothing aginst anyone who digs Franti, if it makes you happy thats good with me, but one thing I love most about Franti shows at festivals is walking around the campgrounds and meeting other festival goers who are ditching his set.

Wow ... I wish I could be as cool as you guys putting down Michael Franti.

I bet it makes you feel all special inside. Especially since the man probably does more positive things for the planet and his fellow man in one day than all you pinheads have in your combined lifetimes.

Ha King Rhino...obviously anyone who has a somewhat unfavorable opinion of Franti is going to get unrepentantly bashed...all im saying is that his show is kind of lame...he most certainly may be a good person and deserves to be recognized for that...you on the other hand should think twice before you get all sarcastic on us

I think Franti is a great singer, decent song write. His political and environmental movements are fantastic and can not be argued with. However, I do think sis band is mediocre compared to other reggae bands that have players who can rip. Lastly, his showed are ridiculously repetitive and similar I would never pay to see him again bc well I already saw it. One time on JamCruise he played the same song 3 times in 24 hours. Jambase please continue to cover jambands, and not Dave Mathew style jambands that DO NOT JAM! Thanks, there are plenty of other music websites that can cover them.

So did Ghandi, but he was at least smart enough to know he has no musical talent.

I don't want to sound like a pretentious jerk, but manas was playing a Djembe, not a bongo.

I think most of us would agree that the first time you see Franti, it's a cool experience. Say what you want, he does get the crowd moving. For me, he's a perfect festival artist. 90 minutes, dance, sing, yell, put your arms in the air. I enjoy watching friends who see him for the first time. Do I spend my "jamband" dollars on him? No, because his show is fairly static from one night to the next. It's worth noting, however, that other jambands really admire and respect him.

Really fun show...really shitty venue. There aren't many bands that could get me to go back there. But MF and the boys brought it that night. And Cherine Anderson rocks. Definitely have a crush on her now.

And I just don't get the negativity on this site. You cant read one article without someone (usually several people) ripping the artist and determining who is or isnt a jamband. Just enjoy the music and understand that not everyone interprets the scene the same way. There's enough negativity in the world as it is. We don't need more poured into our outlet and source of joy.

I don't think it's fair to put Franti and DMB in the same category. Not even close musically.

franti defines what a "wanabee rasta " is all about... he is so cheesy and fake it isn't even funny... jam band fans can see through the fakeness as witnessed on this here messy board.... jambase only covers "name" bands and doesnt do anything to promote the true grit of america.... the bands who are not in the hippy mafia circle that keep playing the same festivals
