After a truly insane summer tour, the undisputed kings of rock and roll are at it again. Widespread Panic’s highly anticipated fall tour kicks off Friday night at the legendary Greek Theater in Berkeley, California. The southern rockers will be parking their rolling party at the Greek for three nights, including a very special Sunday afternoon show.
From the bay area, Widespread Panic will be heading out on a six week romping of America including another three-night stand in New Orleans to help usher in Halloween. For anyone who really wants to get down and dirty, Nolaween Panic, and Voodoo After Dark is an event not to be missed.
Full fall tour dates are online, and include highlights at the Cricket Pavilion in Phoenix on Oct. 22 (win tickets from JamBase) and the actual Halloween gig at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, where Panic has been known to blow the roof off. Other hot shows are sure to be found on the east coast at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell, Ma. on Nov. 8, the Mullins Center in Amherst, Ma. on the 9th and the Licouras Center in Philadelphia on Nov. 13 (win tickets from JamBase). And for all you southern folks make sure you get to Tennessee on Nov. 20th at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, and the UTC McKenzie Arena in Chattanooga on the 21st (you too can win tickets from JamBase).
And For those of you who can’t wait until tour for your down home grit, The Hanson brothers have released the video of “Live At Oak Mountain” Tuesday October 9th on Sanctuary Records. The more than two hours of music and interviews with the band was filmed in August of 2000 during Panic’s performance in Pelham, Alabama, and is available on VHS and DVD.
