Grace Potter and The Nocturnals :: 11.15.08 :: The Independent :: San Francisco, CA
JamBase | Northern California Go See Live Music!

Grace and the Nocturnals were a huge hit at the 2007 Warren Haynes Christmas jam.......Huge I'm telling ya!!! My head exploded when she got behind the Hammond organ. Her guitarist, Scott, acts like he invented guitar solos. The drummer didn't remain seated while drumming. They scorched the Orange Peel and damn near burned down the Civic Center....good stuff, good stuff.
Sounds like a great show... never been to the Independent.
I did get to see Grace & the Band @ the 400 bar a few years ago with about 25-50 other people. No one was in front of the stage. Very Fun!
I caught the Chico show with some good friends....what a great night. I'm not sure what I thought about ol' Ezra but Grace and the boys tore some shit up. It's always nice to catch shows at Sierra Nevada Brewery but it's extra nice to enjoy music as sweet as Grace & Nocturnals.
On a different note, last night's Hold Steady show with the Drive By Truckers was amazing. A friend of mine was kind enough to turn me on to the Hold Steady and stoked a trip to the Fillmore last night. Let's just say, I owe him big time. Long Live Rock!
I love Grace Potter. However, she needs some new material - and to let the other members of her band shine a little more. I'm of the understanding that she's taking some time off after the end of this tour to develop a new album - which is a smart move, IMO. They've been touring pretty non-stop for a while, right?
Also - see you all at GPN 12/4!
I wish to father Grace Potter's love child.
Caught the show in Montana on Thursday night, and WOW. Look for her to be playing her new Gibson acoustic guitar more now. The boys at the factory in Bozeman made her a custom one for the show. Great show, tons of energy.
I'm probably going to marry her someday.
Grace is as good as gold, I love her shows and I do agree she needs some new material and hope it is as good as her live shows. The old stuff is great but she has been touring the heck out of it.
I saw them in August:

Grace graced us with her presence at KPIG-AM San Francisco on 11/15 to chat for a bit and play three songs solo acoustic. She's every bit as sweet as she is talented and powerful. Quite the package there. I think we have a genuine rock star in the making in Grace Potter. And that she deserves it.
Grace Potter is smokin. Sexy legs, and loves to jam.
I relaidoes Jambase have to open every article on her with something about her being hot?
Yes, that was suppose to read. I relaise she is good looking, but does Jambase have to open every article on her with something ablot her being hot?
^^ I think that was supposed to read I REALIZE...but you get an A for effort...
i like that it opens saying "her pants were Wranglers..." when she is clearly not wearing any pants...
but yeah all joking aside, the whole band sends shivers down my spine.
at least on the second night, which is clearly the best :)
I only saw xmas jam 2006.
my buddy LOVES her. I didn't get it so well.
however, I will not stop trying :)
lepineisme, thanks, I thought exactly the same thing- the very first tag is "Sexy Grace Potter..." Imagine "Sexy Jimmy Herring took the stage.." I have virtually never seen an article about her, even in small publications here in her native Vermont, that does not immediately mention her looks. Yes, the woman is gorgeous by all accounts- I'm not blind to that, by any means. And she's talented. And I do not blame her a bit for making the most of both of those attributes. But in today's seamless and cynical commercial packaging of looks and music, is there room for someone less than what is commonly considered beautiful? I do fear for the up and coming women who might not fit the mold- I hope there is room for talent alone. I used to see Etta James decades ago, including with the Dead, and she was so amazingly powerful, more than Ms. Potter will ever be, in my opinion, and very bawdy to boot, but no one was ever saying, "Sexy Etta James..." The author does make the important point that talent is sexy. I hope all the Jen Hartswicks out there playing their respective asses off know that there are folks in the crowd more impressed by what they are throwing down than what they wear or their dress size. It's about the music.
My rant aside, it was a very well-written review, Ann.

WOW, GOOD FOR YOU! that's for the spelling guy. seriously though now that i've stopped laughing, this band is amazingly kick ass. saw them two summers ago in maine w/ the BC and GPN blew them away. only once since then but kick ass then too. oh, and if anyone was wondering, Jenn Hartswick can really blow you away too, maybe more so than grace. humble opinion and all that.
Whoa kcortez, you weren't kidding when you said "EVERYTHING about Grace Potter and the Nocturnals." That website is killer. Nice job.
Saw her in Boston a couple months back... Awesome. They even came out for a double encore.
I think she is putting on weight ...
