Neil Young & Drive-By Truckers To Back Booker T. Jones on New Album

"Green Onions" soul guru Booker T. Jones is at work on a new album that finds Neil Young and the Drive-By Truckers backing him. This is Jones' first solo album in 20 years and is expected to hit shelves in early 2009. At this point details are sketchy, some reports claiming the album to be all instrumental while other sources suggest they are looking for guest vocalists.

This isn't the first time Young and Jones have worked together. In 2002, Booker T. + The MGs served as Young's band on his Are You Passionate album, and now Young is returning the favor.

sounds friggin awesome. I just saw the DBT's and they were killing it as always but to hear them and neil back booker J, hell yes! bring me that soul stirring music!

Never enough Booker T for Me.

Just caught Neil in Reno a couple weeks ago. He killed it. His current tour is nasty!

Gonna' see DBT on Monday open for Hold Steady at the Fillmore. Stoked!

I saw Booker T & the MG back Neil at Summerfest back in the early 90s. Can not go wrong when these guys get together.

Fabulous. I saw Booker at the Dakota recently and he was killer. NY was amazing at the X just a month ago. DBT hit it at First Ave a week ago. What a great lineup for an album. Can't wait.
