Extra Golden: "Obama" Stream

Extra Golden: "Obama" Stream

Last year the half-Kenyan half-American outfit Extra Golden released Hera Ma Nono featuring the song "Obama." The track is praise and thanks for the then Chicago senator (with deep Kenyan roots) who helped the band gain visas to perform at a festival in Chicago.

Now that Obama is the leader of our fine nation, we wanted to be sure you could hear this song.

Smokey - Are you even old enough to vote? You're obviously not educated in politics or even geography, and evidently unaware that Obama is an AMERICAN! He's also opposed to tax increases for the middle class. All Americans are descendants of people from somewhere else. Embrace it! Educate yourself!

I think it's pretty silly and unrealistic how many people are expecting Obama to step in (with no executive experience whatsoever in his record) and resolve all the world's problems and suddenly gum-drops are going to fall from the sky and everything is going to be bliss. As a small business owner I am scarred shitless! I don't think many of you understand how America came to be the most wealthy and blessed nation in the world. CAPITOLISM AND FREE MARKETS! You morons really think that taxing those EEEVIL corporations that supply jobs to people is going to give a boost to our economy? NEWS FLASH: When corporations get their taxes raised they pass them on to the consumer by raising thier prices. Once some of you actually have to work for what you get you will see that it's not fun giving it to the Government to pass along to people who sit on their asses and don't work.

I've actually had employees try to get fired so they can get their free $300 a week from unemployment as opposed to making $400 by working 40hrs.

VWPHAN: ur on point. i'm directly involved with big business and we're already looking into who we're gonna let go first b/c we're going to have to pay such high taxes. people don't realize that the "evil upper class" is who pays their salaries and is the reason why America has so much money. most poor people here are rich in comparison to poor people in other parts of the world.

smokey82832, Obama does not plan to raise taxes on anyone making less than $250,000 a year; instead, he's giving them a tax cut. Taxes will increase on people making more than that, but I know alot of people who fit this income level and couldn't care less. The net effect is actually a CUT, not a raise in terms of tax revenue. Well shit I guess it does suck having to settle for less options in your new luxury car though.

And vwphan, do you really think there's just this huge population of people out there trying to sit on their asses all the time and not work? That's what they like doing? A market ECONOMY is based on MONEY which derives value from SCARCITY. It is impossible for everyone to succeed to matter how hard they are working; this fact is in the very nature of the society we live in. So what's wrong with padding the ground a bit for those living on the bottom, and maybe even give them more opportunities to better themselves economically? Maybe like take that $550 billion spent in iraq and put it in, dare i say it, education, to make the size of "the bottom" a bit smaller? $550 billion. That would have been a nice cut.

Well said vwphan. The owner of the environmental lab that I work for falls into that "rich evil corporation" tax braket that obama plans to steal from. What do you think is gonna happen when that owner is taxed more?...I will tell ya...people loose jobs or at the least slow growth. That will really help the economy huh? I should just quit now b/c obama is gonna pay for my healthcare, kids college, let me stay in my home when i quit paying the bills...etc.....now thats the american dream?!?

I'm surprised your employees aren't doing everything they can to keep their jobs, by the time their unemployment checks run out job competition will be at an all time high. Let me try to clear up some misconceptions. Tax brackets have existed long before any of us. The wealthiest have always been expected to give a higher percentage. The big controversy today is whether or not to extend Bush’s tax cuts for those with a high income. This was an attempt at what Reagan called “Trickle Down Economics”, the idea that when the rich have more money, they create more jobs, and that money trickles down to the lower class. Ideally, this is a nice concept, but it does not work. Realistically, people who have more money than they can spend, simply hoard the extra money. Those tax savings then leave the economy and have an opposite result than was intended. Reasonably, I believe people who live paycheck to paycheck are far more likely to spend the tax savings in question, putting the money back in circulation, and actually stimulating the economy. Then large corporations, big business owners, and even VWPhan can scoop it up and make it their own. I call it “Upstream Economics” and it’s much more likely than falling gumdrops!

but see, rich ppl aren't gonna lower their standard of living. they'll figure out ways to hide their money for the next four years so they can keep the benz and keep their kids in private schools. and one way many will save money is by cutting jobs of the people that work for them. money makes more money and if people have to give it up with taxes, then they can't put that money into business to make more money. "business is the business of the American people."

Jokerman - I'm sorry, but I must have a problem deciphering the uneducated and borderline racist comments of others. Even if it was sarcasm, it's comments like those that spark fear and resentment in others, all of which gets us nowhere in this very serious time. Maybe Smokey has time to bull shit, but I don't!

As for all the pro corporate tax breaks people, I agree w/ sahagian 100%. The Bush tax breaks for corporate America are part of what got us into this mess. He's done absolutely nothing for the middle class, and we're the ones who spend the money that fuels this economy. Big corporate execs don't use their tax breaks to create jobs. After they send jobs overseas thanks to a failed free trade policy, they use the extra money for themselves and their fancy cars and multiple houses and big trips around the world where they spend American money in other economies. The "Trickle Down" economic theory has never worked.

I'm tired of all this complaining about taking tax breaks from companies who make way more than their share of America's wealth. I'm tired of people complaining about paying taxes period! The property taxes I pay on my home are used to build new schools for children that I don't have. Our sales tax goes to a number of government programs I don't use, including a failing local bus system. But do I complain about it? No! Why? B/c it's my job as a citizen to pay my fair share, even if I don't use all of it.

Corporations - and that's mainly who Obama's targeting, not small businesses - cannot bitch about a tax increase when their execs make millions simply by being fired. They make more, so they should contribute more. I believe that a society is only as strong as its weakest citizen - whoever said that - and right now we've got a lot of weak citizens!

Haha I am so proud that there are many people on Jambase who are educated and informed and are thus weary of Democratic President X, Y or Z. What makes you guys think world imperialism is going to be any less in the next 4 years? Obama openly says in speeches and on his campaign website that he wants to move the troops to Afghanistan and Pakistan (<-- Hello they have nuclear weapons!!). Neither of those countries want us there and have been pleading/warning us not to do it. Awesome! Then look at Russia. The perception is that they are so evil blah blah blah. Have any of you been reading the news in the past 2 weeks? They have been moving missiles to the Polish boarder in direct response to our unconstitutional defense system we are using Poland's land for. It doesn't take much reading to learn that we took the wrong side of the Russian Georgian conflict and who the real criminals are. Yes, Obama is an open proponent of harassing and instigating Russia. It is one of his main points for his foreign policy plan! Read people! This is on the man's own website for the love of god!.. OBVIOUSLY these problems would be the same in McCain won. This isn't a democrat vs. republican issue. Both parties have been homogenized into the same long ago. You have put way too much faith in your false messiah who doesn't offer any change! You voted for him for the prospect of peace without even reading his own campaign website. We are foolish for picking these two moron republicrat candidates and now we have what is coming to us. I would have kept my mouth shut, but I am just glad that some people on here seem to get it.

Obama makes America cool. Isn't that what america wants? Coolness? There have been some good educated arguments here about this race. For me though..they are all skin deep. Obama is just as evil as McCain. Look @ who Obama has backing him...Zbigniew Brzezinski, founder of the Trilateralists Commision, Biden (who no one ever talks about) is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations and now Emanuel (i'm reading his book today) who's father goes all the way back to the Irgun (find out about this terrorist group). Plus...Emanuel is a hawk! Yes..he is pro-war. These people represent the same or equal greed and fear agendas as anyone else in the White House or even in Washington.

Yes folks...pushed by anger over Bush(yes he is a scumbag too), many of you on the left thought you were doing the "right" thing, especially this website, for supporting the Dems or anyone for that matter. Any believe in this system is a believe in evil. A vote for anything is still a vote for control of the masses and corporate greed.

Ebbe, do you really think the best thing to do is nothing? I know politicians are all part of the same corrupt system that exists to calm the masses and give us the illusion we have some control… but this is still the best system in the world. If you disagree, you’re free to move! Let’s just be glad that our incoming president gives us proof that intelligence and hard work can take us to the top, regardless of what we were born with. Isn’t it “cool” to have a leader you don’t KNOW you’re smarter than? As far as Obama’s war aspirations go, he says he wants to get the guy that attacked as… wherever he is. That’s something Bush promised, yet did nothing about. That’s “cool” with me, and not so “evil”. I doubt any other country can or will do anything about it. I just wish he could make those gumdrops fall!

It's not a "TAX CUT" if the people getting the checks DON'T PAY ANY TAXES IN THE FIRST PLACE. That is called " W E L F A R E ". My company won't turn profit for another year and how will I reap the fruits of the last three years of working 65-70hrs living on nothing?? SMACK!! The Government takes 35% of it to "Redistribute". The Far Left Liberals are very, very good at giving money away...other peoples money that is. Joe Biden made 2.5 million last year and he reported $3,400 given to charity. WHAT A CHEAP ASS! I tithe 10% of my salary to my church and I can directly see how that money truly goes to helping those in needs through their food pantry and things of that nature. It's not about being "SELFISH" as Obama likes to claim, it's about RESPONSIBILITY. I don't need the government to solve all my problems and neither does anyone else.

HERE IS A QUICK CHECKLIST ON HOW TO LIVE A PROSPEROUS LIFE IN THE MIDDLE CLASS:

1. Finish High School

2. Get a Job

3. Don't have babies out of wedlock

4. Don't make dumb choices that land you in jail

5. Act your WAGE. (Dont spend more than you make)

I see some pretty happy families on my street that are by no means rich but have figured out some simple life principals out and they DONT need the government to hold their hand and tuck them in to bed every night.

vwfan... look in the mirror, it seems like you are the one blaming others! If you followed anything besides propaganda email, you'd know the refundable tax credit is only for those who work. You're bitching about unsubstantiated fears, which are leftover tactics from a defeated campaign. How long have you been in business? It's been 35% since I've been following such things… at least since the Reagan years. Really… you're already paying a 35% "redistribution" tax and it will not change. So, before you blame a future administration for your problems, look at yourself and consider your sources. If you really give 10% (that sounds Christian) how can you complain about giving money to the poor? That’s what Jesus would do, just like your “far left liberals”. You should realize the last administration has been giving the same money away, but to the rich people you yearn to be. I don’t think that’s what Jesus would do!

^^ Agreed, Sahagian! People believe ANYTING they get in those bullsh!t, propaganda emails. Next time, take the time to do some research on the LIES within the email before you just accept it as the truth b/c it usually is not the truth. And MOST people on types of welfare/government assistance actually work-again, check your facts (but yes, there are some people who screw the system, which is unfortunate). And if you're being taxed 35%, then you're making a lot of money b/c that would put you in the highest tax brackett, so I don't know how you're "living on nothing."
