Hate on this band all you want. But never forget that this is jambase, and the slogan is "go see live music". This band is why you see music live. Saw them at langerado and rothbury, and having see umph 40+ times, i can safely say that i have never and will never see another band like this. There shows are creative and fun. Whether half naked dudes freak you out or not, it'd be nice if we could take a step back and appreciate a band who makes you tell your friends "i can't explain it, you just had to be there"

Seen these guys once, wasn't a bad show, just not my thing. I guess I don't appreciate the theatrics as much as some. Also, while I would compare these guys to the Lips in the sense of crazy stage antics, I will say they are much better musicians than the Lips in my opinion..

Not a huge fan of the band but come on people. Art for art sake... Whats with the repressive, bigoted comments. This band and Kevin Barnes makes me work at my art and my creative process through their unique approach to Pop Music and thoughtful lyrics. I am a veteran of WSP shows and it makes me happy that both of these bands come out of Athens, GA near my hometown because I love culture and immersing myself in it and all it has to offer, not just the cream.

Don't hate on the homos. The great thing about art is that while some might like it- its okay for others to hate it and think it sucks. Its just one of those things. At least it stimulates some kind of thought and reaction. Go homo art!!!!

What is going on in these photos that is so homosexual? I don't seen any men kissing each other, much less engaging in gay sex. I certainly saw some close to naked guys, but I also saw some close to naked girls as well. Are they lesbians? Does wearing very few clothes make you gay? Or only if you are a man?

There's a difference between saying that something looks silly and say that it looks silly because it looks gay (and I mean gay as in "homosexual" not as in "shitty" like a lot of the ignorant kids on this site use the term). I don't define myself by pointing out how other people are bigoted, but if I think someone is being a bigot , I am going to call them out. Too much subtle racism, homophobia, sexism, etc. just goes under the radar without anyone pointing it out. It only perpetuates the problem. Take for example the act of putting your hero Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill. The man was an extreme racist who advocated the extirpation of the native american peoples. His actions directly led to the deaths of tens of thousands of people and we enshrine him on our national currency. Fucked up.

If you don't like a band's music or think their stage show is too over the top, just say so. But don't say you don't like it because it's "gay." No matter what your true feelings, it makes you look like an ignorant homophobe.

I 've never seen this band or heard them,but they would probably love most of this thread,no publicity is bad publicity. And art should push boundaries,piss some people off and provoke discussion. Why paint the same old picture over and over again. It is also a subjective medium,no art appeals to everybody,and it shouldn't.

Thanks for your excellent review of the show. I saw them in Richmond, VA at the National on November 1st, and I had a blast. The theatrics were over the top, but that made it all the more fun.

Of Montreal is one of the harder working and fun acts out there. If you like psychedelic pop (which you should if you have a pulse) then Of Montreal is for you. No closeminded allowed.
