Guns N' Roses Stream "Chinese Democracy" - Hear It Now

As we've been talking about, the long-awaited Guns N' Roses release Chinese Democracy (Black Frog/Geffen Records) will be available globally on November 23 on CD and vinyl (accompanied by a free digital download of the tracks), and as a separate digital album.

Produced by Axl Rose and Caram Costanzo, Chinese Democracy includes 14 tracks. The title track and first single from the album, "Chinese Democracy," was released to radio earlier today. Two of the recordings have been recently released - "Shackler's Revenge" debuted September 14 in the "Rock Band 2" videogame and "If The World" debuted October 11 in the film Body Of Lies.

Wow - simply amazing! I have only heard about ten-thousand things like it before (as opposed to a million). I was expecting it to be much, much worse.

I'm with kirkbrew - maybe even a bit more supportive. I wasn't expecting much, but man, this sounds pretty damn good. That guitar work is wicked, the intro is dark and weird with strange voices, and it sounds like Guns N' Roses – big and bad ass with chunky power chords and that fuckin' voice. I suspect anyone who was/is a fan of this band will at least like this song. Rawking.

The middle of that guitar solo is pretty damn sick. I'll give it that. Otherwise fairly mediocre song. That guitar style sounds like Buckethead. Anyone know if thats him on this track?

In regards to Buckethead: I was thinking the same thing, that nasty ass guitar part sounds exactly like Bucketfreak, does anyone know for sure? Man, like I said, if you ever liked Guns i don't know how you wouldn't like this... i was expecting more like "Illusions" ballad kinda crap, this is much meaner and dirtier than expected... maybe not "Appetite" worthy, but not far off.

The guitar solos aren't bad, but the lyrics are super lame. I agree that maybe this would've been better 15 years ago, but these days I'm kind of over the whole strategy to "sing as loud and deep into the microphone as possible and repeat the same chorus line over and over again b/c the other lyrics suck" thing.

I think this song is horrible and its nothing new. New ideas are where its at...when these guys are barely thinking for themselves it seems. This sounds uninspired and very unimaginative. This doesnt push any boundaries at all especially for what axel claimed it to be for the past 8 years. hah. Im all for good feeling music too that doesnt have to push boundaries but this is elementary and taking a step back for them. They need to let it rest, appetite and illusion would have been a legacy without this nonsense.

Pretty darn boring I'd say. I heard "It Don't Come Easy" come onto K-rock in NY a few days back and I got really excited cause I hadn't heard it in awhile and forgot how badass it was, it brought me back to 7th grade. This track is missing that energy that made the original GnR so ballsy.

as for the buckethead thing, yes it's him. he's actually one of the biggest reasons the album took so long, on a count of him dissappearing from the studio back in 02ish. It's got brain on drums as well. and for fuck's sake people, if you don't care for guns n roses in the first place you wont like this, so shut the hell up. I dont see you all on the michael mcdonald boards saying his new album sucks, because you don't like him in the first place. so once again, shut the hell up. go diddle yourselfs to some bisco and save yourselfs the typing because very, very few people care what you think.

Too bad too, Appetite is one of my fav's. Sounds like too much studio time and second guessing/tweaking, too overworked.

I like Axl's voice, not layers of Axl's modulated voice.

I don't think this should be called G'n'R; it's not the same band.

They should call this New G'n'R and then reunite the original band and call it G'n'R Classic.

What a waste. I'm an enormous fan of the best rock & roll band from the 80's call GNR. Not this crap. Nothing wrong with him releasing some crappy pop music. I wish he would just name the band Axl's Roses or something. This is really insulting to the band & it's fans.

btw...I love Buckethead & he left the band cause Axl is an a-hole. I cant argue with that logic

I guess here's the deal: technically, that song isn't bad. It's decent. I'm not a GnR afficiando - who is the deep voice on that song? I thought Axl was the lead? I barely heard him throughout the whole song. The bigger issue is that, since it took this long for the record to come out, you would have thought that maybe it would have been a bit more innovative or kick-in-the-nuts good. I love the intro and the guitar, but the rest didn't really go anywhere. Hopefully the rest of the cd lives up to the potential this song had. But on the whole, disregarding everything but this track, it's a decent song.

The production is great. The sound is better than most of the stuff on your typical clearchannel radio station. The songwriting is, however, simply mediocre.

I'm sure eighth graders who don't know better yet will eat this stuff up. Maybe it will turn them on to Appetite, or the less amazing but still good Use Your Illusions.

It's a good rock song. I was not expecting Axl to reinvent the wheel. I can't stand Axl - I was at the show in Philly when he decided not to show and watch the Rangers game in New York instead. So, while I will never spend money on a ticket for a concert, I thought the song was a good rock song. It was not any worse than the bullshit album Metallica just put out. Good job Axl, but get slash back on the night train before I spend money on a guns ticket!!!

There seems to be a large misconception that GnR was the greatest rock band of the 80's when there has to be legions of Iron Maiden fans that would (justifiably) disagree. I can't believe we're even discussing this rubbish today. Then again, I can't believe I just dropped a Maiden reference.

Axl, seriously? I mean it sounds like you really spent a lot of time on the intro, which is rather unfortunate because it is ABSOLUTE CRAP. That cheesy guitar kick [tease] is timed terrible. Not to mention the stupid atmospheric effects in the background. And what the hell is with those effects? Sounds kinda like Axl firing up the torch and about to melt down some meth.

OK - this is NOT Guns and Roses. This band should change their name to Nails N' Roses. I like NIN and Finck and Axl still sound pretty good (minus the head trips). This tune sounds nothing like the GNR of old (obviously without Slash, how could it?) - but it doesn't necessarily suck by today's radio standards. Its commercial, its Axl and it isn't any worse than the other commercial metal/rock out there right now.

I'll just stick with Appetite, Lies and Illusion I and II and call it a day.

Everyone is saying it wasn't worth the wait, was anyone actually waiting for this? I loved GNR in 7th grade (Used to rock the Use your illusion shirt) just like everyone else, I am not really digging the new Axl and roses, buckethead does not have the feel of Slash. Anyone who was alive (or maybe a teenager) when classics like "you could be mine" were released they really spoke to our teenage angst.
