Plant Tells Led Zep NO!

Robert Plant Will Not Tour with Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin
The U.K. press is working overtime pumping rumors of a Led Zeppelin reunion. Hipster gossip/music site NME reports by way of The Sun that, "Led Zeppelin are planning a full tour for next summer, with singer Robert Plant set to rejoin the band."

Turns out they're full of shite. In response to such erroneous reporting, Robert Plant issued the following statement through his website:

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss are currently touring the U.S.A. on the last leg of their 'Raising Sand' tour. They played a benefit concert in Oklahoma City for victims of Hurricane Ike last Friday; Austin, Texas last Saturday and tomorrow they play Portland, Oregon before finishing the tour in Saratoga, California on October 5.

After those dates, Robert has no intention whatsoever of touring with anyone for at least the next two years. Contrary to a spate of recent reports, Robert Plant will not be touring or recording with Led Zeppelin. Anyone buying tickets online to any such event will be buying bogus tickets.

"It's both frustrating and ridiculous for this story to continue to rear its head when all the musicians that surround the story are keen to get on with their individual projects and move forward," Robert Plant said.

"I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects," he added.

As much as I would love to see a reunion show, I'm not sure if I would even be willing to pay (what I'm guessing would be) the outrageous price the tickets would be going for.

I think it is better to forget a Zep reunion. The tickets will be outrageous and the quality just wont be there. Plant no longer has the pipes for this style of music and in seeing many of the recent "reunion" performances has really proven that. This is one of the best rock and roll bands of all time... lets not ruin that memory by having some half-assed over priced sellout reunion tour.

Robert Plant can do whatever he wants to do, and it appears that he will continue to do just that. Why would Zeppelin need to play with Mule to not be a bunch or jerk/asses? Also, jerk asses don't put on a reunion show where the benefits offer scholarships to students. Keep blowing Warren and stop ripping the best rock band ever.

...and why would they play with Gov't Mule?? Just curious...that one doesn't make sense to me. Mule is aight but is nowhere near, nor will it ever be anywhere close to Zep.

Hey Dave ever heard the "Song Remains the Same" or "How the west was won" or even tried youtube. Cause I honestly come to the absolute opposite conclusion most every time I hear him live. Page is one of the greatest live guitar players ever. However, he has fallen apart at times.

I salute Plant's integrity in not selling out to phony has-been nostalgia. Think of the cash he is forgoing to do the right thing, move on and change, successfully I might add. Not resting on one's ancient laurels takes huge virile balls. Now let the Phish reunion begin!!

Here is how I see it. Led Zep are one of the most profound bands in Rock and roll history but Plant was the one that everyone expected to stay with the same voice; able to hit freakishly high notes that he did effortlessly in his youth but as he got older and people still had that expectation; it was an ill fit. (Remember some of those articles where Paige woulddiss on his band mate? Does anyone remember the Firm? Yuck {Love Ya Paige but it was like you acted superior or were selling that and I was an impressionable 14 year old)

I think it stymied creativity and Allison Krauss and T bone have turned that man onto different head voices and music that has opened up his mind. It is just a fantastic thing to see that his priority is to his own efforts especially after this eye opener that he lovingly received from T Bone and Krauss; can't wait to see what he comes up with. Zep ain't done though, they will play again

I understand Robert Plant is touring with Alison Krauss. I love Led Zeppelin and always will. Oviously they aren't going to play/sound as good as they use to but it would mean so much to Jimmy Page if Robert would get back together for a few shows. I know Robert and John Bonham were really close friends and Led Zeppelin was Jimmy's precious baby. There just seems to be something going on behind the scenes about Robert on how he won't get together for a few shows. I definetly agree zeppelin died in 1980 with bonham's passing. And I understand Robert being quoted that "it was only a little over a decade of my life." I'm just rambling but my main point is give Jimmy Page what he deserves. Even if it is just 3-5 more shows...

I'm not really sure why someone would go back and give negative signal back on so many comments of folks who want to dialog their feelings about Plant or Zep but if you are going to give a thumbs down why not give an intelligible reason.Plant certainly does not deserve any diss for wanting to continue creating with what he is doing now. The music is awesome. I understand being that it is jambase the idea of the band is sacred. Just state if you disagree. By the way; Phish could fill a stadium or amplitheater and so could Zep exclusively. They would not tour together

the only reason true rockers come back is for the essence of being in the band or the money...Well theyve got the money and Im pretty sure that by sayign what plant said; he/they truly know that it wouldnt be the same anymore and the side projects are the way to go ???? I still appluade them on anything they do wether it is to come back or not... They gave amazing music over a good period of time, you cant ask any more from these guys !

I gotta say that i'm fine with no tour just because if thats what the band wants, then why force it. i don't wanna to go to a show with a bunch of guys who don't really want to be there. that's why i'm glad that Pink Floyd didn't do one before Wright died, cause there would've been tension on stage and that definitely takes away from the music. i will say that if it ever does happen, i will most definitely be there!

WOW! Lots to respond to, I've been off the map for a few days. First, someone said Page is one of the worst live guitarists? Do you have "How the West was Won"? Amazing playing on Heartbreaker, Over the Hills, Going to Cali>That's the Way acoustic, all great tracks with great playing. Also, tickets would be expensive, but overpriced is in the eye of the beholder. I think $5 is overpriced for many of the bands many of you love. I would love to see it happen, if it doesn't, oh well. As a young man, though, I would like to see as many of my musical heroes play together as is possible before they kick the bucket. And really, I think replacing Plant is a good idea, get someone with the vocal chops that can play a little harp and with Page and JPJ, it will all be good!

Theres so much better music than Led Zeppelin that is on the scene now, its not even funny....as good as Zep is, they are still just a rock band....guitar, bass, drums, singer,.....sweet. this sound has completely been watered down over the last 40 years....thanks for all the great work zeppelin, but its time to move on with the music of the new generation..
