Yes, I have been there a couple of times. It is a great small intimate venue. I have seen some pretty good shows like Railroad Earth and The Join. I think a little pricy, but no hassles. Very laid back and no troubles. This is one of the few good shows coming there this fall.

this Jersey dinner sounds sick! Can't wait to hear what Kimock has up his sleeves with regards to the 'new live and recording projects'

Yea Bigfro-

While there may be a lot of shows in NY this fall, you only listed like 3 good ones...

I was thinking the same thing....Joan Osbourne, Michael Franti, The Black Crowes, Grace Potter??? Go get your dance on jackass...Kimock is fucking incredible and you're nuts if you think any different...Why is everyone going to be tired in their chairs?? I think I'll be well rested for that one...

While The Mexecali Blues is a small intimate venue, it is also a restaurant and there's just not much room when everyones is at tables eating beforehand and they don'e remove the chairs whent the music starts making it hard to dance enless you are in the very front. Also, only been there a couple times, but there seem to be some very loud locals? who always come and are very rude/talkative. I've avoided the place since. It's a shame, because the place is run by some very cool Deadheads.

first of all, love kimock and his stuff w/ KVHW and recently w/ Banyan...this type of gig is perfect for Kimock, his son and a cello/bass. i've heard folklore of Kimock telling fans to "shut the f#*k up" at KVHW shows, so i'm sure this'll be jazz-joint claps and relaxing crowd silence. Actually sounds like a cool getaway for a night w/ the lady friend or some friends.

sure its not the standard show, but this sounds like a great mellow dinner experience. especially since kimock tends to move my mind even more than my body

This sounds great, and not a bad price, $20.00. However, I wonder why it's not called "The Mexicali Blues Cafe" anymore. The website looks a little less professsional too. Is that because "Create a Bad Vibe" is not around anymore? Is it because there was unauthorized use of the Grateful Dead song title? Hmmmmmmm

Mexicali is known for good tex mex food, tequilla selection n beers. The bar crowd was lound seeing off long time chef Joe.. n Joe i always loved the pistachio encrusted tuna
