Spearhead Tour/Album Out Now

Michael Franti & Spearhead Wow 17,000 Foot-stomping Fans at the Hollywood Bowl
Performance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson Airs October 2
Deluxe Limited Edition of All Rebel Rockers Available on Band's Webstore

Michael Franti & Spearhead
Michael Franti & Spearhead wowed the crowd on Sunday night at this season's final installment of the KCRW World Festival series at the historic Hollywood Bowl. MTV.com was in the house and gushed "the World Fest concert was one of the most high-energy and just plain fun shows I've ever been to... Michael Franti & Spearhead had fans on their feet right from the start…the energy was really pumping through the crowd."

Superlative entertainers, the performance was a testament to the band's creativity and talent. Franti & Spearhead opened their set with a single spotlight focused on a giant boombox. An aggressive reggae beat had the sold-out crowd wondering if maybe they had wandered into a hip-hop show by mistake, but once the band joined in and Franti ran on stage, the crowd was completely mesmerized by the original mix of reggae, pop and rock & roll. Accompanied by Kingston dancehall diva Cherine Anderson, who appeared on several tracks on Spearhead's latest, All Rebel Rockers and who has collaborated with Madonna, Britney Spears and Sir Paul McCartney, Michael Franti and his band had even the most jaded Bowl-goers dancing through the entire set. At a time when all news seems to be bad news, Michael Franti & Spearhead reminded 17,000 concert-goers that night that there is fun to be had in hopefulness.

Gratifyingly for the venerable and hardworking band, All Rebel Rockers cracked the Top 40, entering the Billboard charts at #39, a first for Michael Franti & Spearhead. With multiple formats of the new release, including a super-deluxe version that features a CD, DVD, seven vinyl singles and a slew of extra items, All Rebel Rockers is Michael Franti's & Spearhead's most ambitious and interesting record yet.

"An aggressive reggae beat had the sold-out crowd wondering if maybe they had wandered into a hip-hop show by mistake"

WTF! an aggressive reggae beat makes me think REGGAE!

and im 100% positive that no one, not one person in the whole crowd, thought they wandered into a hip hop show.

even the newest of spearhead fans know how much hip hop has shaped thier music.

did Mtv write this?

Why is everyone so worked up? Of course we all hate MTV and of course Spearhead's music pretty much sucks. Thats not the point. When an artists motives are to promote conscious action through music, it makes logical sense for them to reach out via mainstream media. I actually think its kind of cool that a righteous artist like Franti can be so publically recognized in the mainstream. ITs good for his message. And why does it bother you so much if you hate his music anyway? Are you scared he's going to create a movement of the genreal public. scarey, huh.

What the hell is wrong with you people? Abviously if you are so pissy and negative, Franti is not for you. Sure he repeats himself, but he by far gets a crowd worked up and pumped more than any performer out there. Next thing you know you whiners will complain about JB from WSP saying "thank you very much" too often. His message is awesome, his new album is awesome, his concerts are awesome, and if you dont like it, move on and keep your negative remarks to yourself!!!!! At least he has conviction and has a peace mission, unlike most band out there.

all u haters just dont get it do you... this man is so positive for the scene, for music, for our country and for the world.. his music is great his lyrics touch home and who cares how often he gets the crowd jumpin the point is that he Does get them jumpin.,by the way he did not say How you feelin once at Rothbury ...... he s the shit and if you dont do anything positive with your life and cant appreciate someone who is trying and succeeding at making the world a better place well then i can see why you dont like him, but for us who do strive to make the world better, our society better and more love in our life... hes the man and his message is loud and clear, and we feel good at his shows and after sooo take it for what its worth

I think Michael Franti is inspiring and his show is a great time. I can't believe the outpouring of negativity towards someone who "walks his talk." He actually believes in PEACE through MUSIC!! That is the cornerstone of most of his music. If you have seen him too much, then TAKE A BREAK from festival tour!! Unfortunatly, the corporate festival experience has sucked the life and soul from you. Or perhaps you should see a band that you do like. It really makes sense to not go to see bands that you hate and instead support the ones that you do. I can't believe these posts by people who claim they are sick of Spearhead. Then why do you keep going? Do you need your mom to tell you to stop beating your own face with your fist? Sometimes I hate these comment sections simply because it shows how this music scene is just riddled with idiots.

I'm sorry but seeing my 8 year old daughter sing and dance to Spearhead makes them one of the greatest bands in the world to me.

dont know y some people are pissy its hard enough to get mtv to even think about us and our scean im not sayin i want them to but still they did and they liked it not spearheads fault or jambase its there site they can post what they want as far as franti y complain about someone so happy to be alive, playin music and havin fun with the scean and whatever it brings and im not sure but i dont think he would say a bad word about anyone who dosent deserve it and what did he do again repeat himself whatever people

All the haters need to fucking chill. To agree with the positive people above, Spearhead puts on a great show every time with a message for those who care to listen. If a message isn't for you, you can always dance to the grooves they throw down. Why is that such a problem for you supposed music lovers out there? Maybe he asks "How you feelin" so many times at festival shows because he knows you pissy little kids need to wake the fuck up and have a good time.

quit hatin' on franti...no one cares if you don't like his music or don't want to start jumping at a concert.

The new album is pretty cool, not as amazing as stay human or yell fire, but its good; definitely worth getting.

Michael Franti and Spearhead always put on high energy shows

Why do people trip over mixing music with politics? If the jamband scene is not a part of whats left of the counterculture anymore, than I couldnt be apart of the jamband scene any longer. Michaels message means more to me than some "face melting guitar solo" anyway.

"Oh my god! Franti is onstage talking about peace, spirituality and equality with his sick funky band! I cant take it anymore because it doesnt sound like bisco or panic. This peaceful talk is pissing me off, I think Im going to go on jambase and whine about it!"

Like many of you, I've seen Franti and Spearhead a few times and I've never really been impressed...I understand that he maintains a positive vibe and he's all about peace and anti-war and I respect him for that...but that doesn't make his music great by any means. We all know that George Bush is a dick head, just play some good music man! If he didn't take premium time slots at festivals, he definitely wouldn't receive so much negativity...people want to see and hear MUSIC!!

Michael Franti and Spearhead are one of the best live acts on the scene. All the haters keep living in your negative lives and looking at the glass as half empty. The new cd is great and songs like Hey World Dont Give Up and Little Bit of Riddem are AWESOME. All you haters can go take your next dirty roll and tweak out to Bisco...

Franti is all about having a positive effect on the world and bringing people together in the name of peace. Plus it allways has me shakin my ass. I am very surprised that anyone could hate on him. if you don't like it, don't listen. no one is forcing you. you should open your minds and not hate on what you don't understand. although that seems to be the american way. maybe you should remember what this scene started with. Peace, Love, Freedom, and Music. Not judgement and hate.

im really not trying to generalize but i ve noticed that most of the people who talk shit are usually bisco heads, and say how repeatative Franti is.. i find this very funny considering how Biscuits hold the same drum beat the whole show,

if all you people hate spearhead so much why do you take the time to read the articles about their musics and shows ... its actually pretty sad ... big whoopdie friggin doo ... he repeats himself ... i can think of a lot worse shit goin on in music and at some shows ... personally i rather enjoi spearhead and love the message that franti is tryin to spread ... theres nothing wrong with peace, love, and a little positivity ... maybe your all just upset that you have nothing better to do with your time than talk shit on a website on top of just sounded plain ignorant (f this f that ... wow you tough guys can curse arent you cool... whats the point???) ... or is it that hes more talented than you and you wish ppl actually cared to hear what you think???
