From jaminthedam.com:

Hello to all of our loyal JitD fans,

Jam in the Dam 2008 by Sam Friedman
If you are not a frequent guest at our message board you may not have heard about situation that the JitD founder, Armand Sadlier, finds himself in. You can click on 'message board' to get more details, but the long and short of it is that Armand is in need of a double-lung transplant.

Even in the wake of going through this process, we were striving to still present the show in 2009. We have sadly come to the conclusion that since this is his baby, and something that requires his personal attention, that it just wasn't feasible to pull off the show for 2009. So, it is with great sadness that we announce there will not be a Jam in the Dam for 2009.

We know that many of our fans will be disappointed, but the best thing is for Armand to focus all of his efforts on recovering, and getting back on the case for 2010. Maybe the U.S. economy can also rebound a bit in the meantime. The euro was at an all-time high last year, and made things more expensive than usual in attending this one-of-a-kind event. It has already fallen back within seven cents of where it was two of the first three years, so hopefully that continues.

This is by no means a farewell, and we expect to be back strong for 2010, which will be the 'new' 5th Anniversary of the show. Later this Fall, Larry Shapiro will have finished the video capsule from 2008, so we're all looking forward to another slice of Larry's outstanding work that always brings us right back to Amsterdam. All of Larry's past masterpieces can be found on the homepage jaminthedam.com and YouTube.

We want to thank the fans profusely, for supporting this show each year, as well as the artists who have agreed to participate. We know it takes much more time and effort to attend than all other festivals, but we know many folks who said it was the time of their lives.

Looking forward to providing more of those times, and please send out some positive vibes for our founder, can't have too many of those!

"Optimism is the foundation of courage."
~Nicholas Murray Butler

Ok, so let me get this straight;

Organizers of Langerado do one of the dumbest things ever and it to Miami (certainly not going to that)

Jam in the Dam gets cancelled (at least it's still a great place to go with or without JITD).

Good grief - what the hell is the world coming too? What's next I wonder?

I usually attend both festivals.

March 2009 has been totally ruined in just a couple of days.

My best to Armand and his recovery.

It's a week of WTF

Wasn't there, but assume you are talking about Particle, and losing Charlie Hitchcock. But most importantly, get better Armand. Hopefully I will be over in Europe in 2010.

Spend another few seconds and read my entire post instead of the first line. As you can see I sent will wishes to Armand. If you'd like to take another minute out of your day and check the JITD message board I've known about his unfortunate illness for over a month and sent well wishes on there too. His friends were attempting to keep JITD going in 2009, but obviously he plays a vital role.

Maybe you should refrain from making comments until you know the entire story and read the entire post instead of wasting time slagging people(s) for making a simple comment that I've received some not so favorable news in the past couple days.

Thanks for trying to put me in my place though.

See you in 2010 Armand.

First off, get well Armand. It's a shame their won't be a JITD in '09 but it's good to see that he is very optimistic about his health, and the future of JITD. I went in '05 and had one the best times of my life and vowed to make it back there again. In the meantime their are a lot of other great festivals to hit up and this will give me/us plenty of time to save up for JITD 2010 !!

its always sad when anyone is sick. A double lung transplant sounds serious as hell, Ive never even heard of a double?? Maybe next year, phish will be back, so the smaller jambands will not have an issue (as they have always stated they did when phish was around) so the lineup will be even sicker..... I went to the first one... one suggestion I would have would be to maybe rent out a floor of a club and get a sick DJ to do an after party. This may sound odd, but I found that amstredamn does not have a crazy late night life, other than the um obvious.....

Next time Phatboy, PLEASE review the entire entry before you hit the keyboard. It amazes me that a small section of people who take a moment to write on here aren't capable of reading a complete entry and only concentrate on certain comment or a specific lines in a message. Phatboy, I'm quite sure you're capable of doing such. Also, it appears you are unable to understand that the first post by (umphscr) mentioning festivals falling like the investment banks was just a light hearted reference to the past week events and nothing more.

I've been to a couple JITD's and Armand's vision and creation is the best Jam experience going period. He should be in control of some of the other festivals that are failing, because he surely knows what it take to make them successful. JITD will certainly be back in 2010 with Armand at the helm after he works through his recovery.

i am very sad by this news and hope armand has speedy recovery. this festival is like none other and i can't wait to get back someday. most of the people who go to this festival work for a living and save their money to attend. there are no wooks at this festival from what i saw the first 3 years. get a job now so you can start saving for 2010!
