Go See Live Music!
The only way to bid summer farewell.... Moe.down certainly was the place to be this past weekend and I loved every minute of it.
see ya next year!!!
this review is entirely too short
i too wish this review was longer. Presidents of The United States of America were a great addition this year. The moe. fellas always seem to draw an 'oddball' band that represents what they like. Like Perry Farrel and Meat Puppets last year, Fishbone and PUSA were great this year. Check out Cornmeal! ---It took moe.down years to get Yonder and the moe.rons were spoiled this year with many of sick bluegrass- Cornmeal, Bela Fleck (Sparrow Quartet) and Yonder! Yeeee-hahhhh moe.!
no mention of,not one,but two stealth sets from HaHa The Moose!
TWO!!! I heard of the one saturday night but...when was the second?
did HaHa the Moose play any primus this year?
pretty good review...wish i was there, man i really wish i was there....next year i guess.Gonna miss moe. for the time being
Great festival. Wasnt able to go but I did watch it on i-clips. Pretty sweet!
Not one but two times with the word "Fam-Moe-Ly". That is a ridiculous use of a band name. Great pics though. Love the shots of Angelo Moore of Fishbone. He's one talented mutha...
moe. down has been fantastic since my i started gong in 04. this review failed to note, however, that the presidents of the USA rocked the house sunday, and are totally gonna take over the jam scene... the duo and the sparrow quartet were especially sick, and moe. is still doin what it do. hopefully the rumors i heard of this being the last moe.down are false, but it was slightly upsetting not to hear al say "see yall next year at moe.down 10" like he usually does. i guess we'll see.
never really got into moe. but damn that looks like fun!
Camp bisco moving to July made this an easy decision for me. I bet a lot of people got to do both this year.....
Yeah too bad you left out the American Babies. They were there too and they played to hard to not get any mention what so ever. Just my thoughts. This was a fantastic weekend for music all around.
The other haha set was a band switch in the beer tent with the PMG on Saturday afternoon. They played Big Bottom and Tiajuana Donkey Show with the PMG on backing vocals. The late set was on the back of the soundboard after the third moe. set on Saturday.
1. Ha Ha The Moose Theme
I aggre that PUSA rocked the house, what fun.
2. Mister Her ("the slow jam you hate to love")
4. Redneck Trilogy
5. In The Name Of Freedom
5. In The Name Of Freedom
sorry for the typo
Hey all, thanks for the comments. Appreciated.
Sorry I didn't comment on the Ha Ha set ... I did catch their late night set behind the SB, but was a bit sauced and didn't jot a note. I didn't catch the PHG/Moose set. But re the rest of what got left out, the editors choice was to omit the following paragraph that belongs between the Helm paragraph and the last paragraph:
There were certainly others that this critic didn’t get to that deserve mention. Both Fishbone and The Presidents of the United States put out very high energy sets, which included several hits from an era long gone by, as well as new music from each act respectively. American Babies drew a sizeable crowd to the main stage for their lovely set despite many not being familiar with the group’s lineage or current music. Swampadelica’s Cajun soul music raised a Cain on Saturday morning under the tent, and the PMG straight up rocked it out following them. Upstate New York’s Lynch got downright funky early on Sunday, while the Macpods had the awful task of playing between MOE’s two Sunday sets.
I respect the Ed’s decision, just thought you all should know I did try to get something in about PUSA, Babies and what not …..
P.S. Somebody needs to say this hear so allow me .... GREAT PICS Rob, way to go. Thanks for enhancing the piece.
moe.down this year was amazing as always for many reasons the music of course and i would like to thank the amazing person who had found my wallet on the ground and turned it into lost and found instead of taking all my money and leaving my wallet on the ground the first day before any music had started i tried having an announcement on the stage cuz its a very rare occasion for someone to lose 800 dollars and 2 doses and have someone turn it it as soon as they found it without taking a cent its nice to know that there are still good people out there and once again thank you for making my weekend amazing and giving me a great moe.down story to tell forever it truly was a moe.down miracle. peace
BTW ----- ^^^^^^^ THAT'S WHAT I MEAN BY FAM-MOE-LY. ^^^^^^^^^ It's also a term that the band uses themselves on some of their tour Laminates. But that above is what I mean by we're all FAM-MOE-LY. Glad to hear it Buster024.
if the person who found my wallet reads this i would appreciate it if u would contact me at email@example.com i would lve to hear from u and find out who u r cuz no one knew when i asked who found it and what they looked like thank you again, peace
BUSTER024: At Snoe.down 2 years ago the same exact thing happened to one of my best friends. He lost his wallet during one of moe.'s mindblowing sets. A few days after snoe.down his wallet was sent to his house, cash still inside. Moe. fans are the shit.
PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!! Where is the mention of such an amazing band that put out so much energy in to the crowd???!!! How could they not be mentioned?? PUSA was definitely the highlight of my 90's flashback weekend!!
Fishbone. If you would have told me 10 years ago that Fishbone would be playing a jamband festival, I would have laughed, thinking it would never happen. I wish I would have been there. Anyone happen to get a recording of the show? They are an awesome live band. Archive.org has some old old nice nice recordings. They are a band that have worked too hard and never really "made" it, whatever that means. Check out "Truth and Soul" for sure.
I don't think the Fishbone band switch was overstayed at all. If they were going on too long moe. would've stopped them, it's not like anything was out of their control.
^^was kind of excessive, the whole switch thing was cool and fishbone laid down some dirty funk but at the same time when i was in the mindset for some moe, and moe was scheduled was kind of dissapointing
im the guy who lost his wallet at snoe.down and had it mailed back to him...un believeable affirmation of the scene and moe. fans in particular. Best. moe.down. ever.!
PUSA fuckin killed.
bill clifford is my copilot, i say five stars.
i got my camera stolen at vibes ilcc three years ago,
pics = five stars
That wallet thing made me happier than the phish wedding video for some reason. If I lost a wallet with $800 I'd shit myself. Thats why I don't carry a wallet or $800.
IF you're in the northeast this fest is definately worth the trip.
Bill, thanks for mentioning Lynch in your comment - you're right... they did get downright FUNKY on Sunday morning. That set made my weekend - and from what I overheard in the crowd people were totally getting down with it.
Sunday night's sit-in featured both Terry Lynch (trumpet) and Shannon Lynch(sax) of Lynch with moe. during "Happy Hour Hero." That mp3 is now available on Lynch's myspace - www.myspace.com/lynchband
Now that I've gotten over my Moe.Down withdrawls...I can finally comment. Friggen great weekend. Every band brought it, espically MOE. They did play like they were looking at some time off and just let it all hang out. Maybe a little too glow sticky, for a tree hugger like me but F-it they look kinda sick. And by the way the HD video that nobody at the fest saw, looks f-ing better than any moe. video ever seen. Hopefully we'll all see it sometime this year. Concert Clif, great write up, and very good pictures. I think MOE.DOWN 10 should be even better with some return acts to pay tribute to this weekend institution. Maybe Les Claypool?....Fishman?.....The Whailers?......TrainWreck?.....Lotus?....
But at this point, Moe. could do it on their own and I'd go. Thank you MOE.>Turin>the weather>moe.rons. I will not thank the security crew who thought they were above the law. They as a whole were abusing their authority.
i loved the bathtub gin teases on friday night. seemed like an awesome time. i've been getting into moe. a lot lately. they are mind blowing forsure
That wallet thisng is the staple of what the jame scene is all about. thats what seperates our scene from all the rest. Bigg upps to the dude or chick that turned in you lute.
KARMA is a mysterious force.
Great pics bro, thought it was worth a mention
Yeah that was a great weekend. Presidents were awesome, the energy of the set reminded me of The Violent Femmes set at moe.down 6 which rocked in a weird way too. Aside from the ninjas waking my ass up to search my tent for no reason on saturday morning it was good people and good times all around.
