Fresh out of Mitch Easter's studio (Co-producer of R.E.M.'s Murmer and Reckoning albums) and armed with an arsenal of new songs, Outformation is ready to rock. Atlanta-based Outformation started out as a trio in 2002 with guitarist Sam Holt (guitar tech for the late, great, Michael Houser), bassist Grady Upchurch, and New Orleans drummer-singer Lee Schwartz. In 2006, Outformation added keyboardist CR Gruver and percussionist Jeff "Birdogg" Lane to the lineup, taking the music to another level.
This fruitful devotion led Outformation to release their second full-length album, Traveler's Rest, in August of 2007, their first recording as a five-piece band. Although the title track "Traveler's Rest" was a collaboration with Widespread Panic, this album presents Outformation as a maturing band focused on their own signature sound.
The hard work and dedication is paying off for Outformation, playing over 130 shows a year nationwide including festival appearances at Bonnaroo, SXSW, Wakarusa, High Sierra, 10KLF, Hookahville, and All Good Festival, among others. This year Outformation is pleased to announce their two-night run in New Orleans for Halloween, and an intimate three-night stand at The Pour House in Charleston, SC for New Year's! Until then, you can catch Outformation on the move this fall, where they plan to unveil the new material and release their first DVD.
