Like this feature VERY VERY much. Would like to see more of this kind of feature woven into concert reviews.... Either a stream of one song as a sample, a whole show, or both with the option to purchase live recordings. I would love to see JB line up this kind of thing with nugs/live downloads ....

miles, this is the old Trey band from back in 1999...it's:bassist Tony Markellis, drummer Russ Lawton and keyboardist Ray Paczkowski. Show sounds sweet

Man! Trey rules!! I might get some thumbs down for this but I LOVE the SHINE album. Proves Trey can write a pop rock song. Excellent....

While I agree that "Shine" Wasn't exactly a great song or album, I think it may be a little early to start bagging the new originals (which IMO are not bad at all.). These songs are still are in their infancy, and are hopefully finding their feet with Trey before taking liftoff with Phish. I wasn't a huge fan of "Undermind" when it came out, but there were a couple of tunes on their that sounded great when the boys stretched them out a bit (Nothing from Deer Creek '04). And as far as the "falling into oblivion comment goes", I think you'd better be ready for ALOT of new material when/if Phish get back together. I respect your opinion, but give Trey a bit of slack wouldya, esp. since he actually deserves it this time. Way to go Jambase!!!

Its great to hear Trey back at it and he does sound good both vocally and on the ole Languedouc, but I must agree with MimiLuv...I'm not at all impressed by the new material featured in this show (Mike's new stuff is way way better). However, I have very high hopes for the new Trey material Trey wrote to be unveiled in his performance with the Nashville Orchestra ('Time Turns Elastic' I do believe'). I think if Trey still has some magic left, we will hear it there.

I totally agree! Back in the day ON TOUR! We used to call these "freshies" Way to go. It doesn't sound that bad, we have all been jonesing, come west young man. When tour calls, hit the road!

i just started listening to this and so far this alaska song is badass!!! its sounds very jgband-esq. like 70s soul-rock jerry goodness but with that loveably goofy trey voice and fingers behind the melody. and regardless of what you think of trey's evolution with his solo material, anything channeling the j man is on the right road.....fuck yeah trey!!!!

Jambase, MAJOR props for this one! ok Ill throw my 2 cents in here. Like I tell my buddy J, trey writing another fluffhead is just not gonna happen, i don't think. "Alaska" is a good fun rock tune, kind of Band-ish. "Peggy" does not excite me at all. "Gone" is ...pretty bad. Sounds like something from 1988. "Backwards Dwon the Number Line" is decent, I guess, but the silver lining on that one is some crisp soloing at the end. That's a good sign. I think "Valentine " might suprise us all. That one actually has some potential. "Greyhound Rising" was weird. I almost wanted to turn it off, but I'm glad i stuck around. great jam on that one. "Light" is a nice 60's style CSNY kind of thing. They say stick to your roots, and I feel like that's what Trey is trying to do. The guy did grow up listening to the radio during the 80's, with Bruce Springsteen, The Police, and all that, so go figure. I'm just glad he is back where he belongs, up on the stage, and sounding great!

FYI for whoever said this was the original trey band from 99... there was no keyboardist in 99 .. trey played keys at those shows.

I heard on sirius sat radio this afternoon that it was official that the boys were back together, touring as soon as sep 4 08 BACK TO SCHOOL TOUR? no word on their site or here anyone else hear the same? fanfuckintastic about the show lets get ready for some real pain boooooys

stoobeey, you're correct...i meant the rhythm section (they helped co-write a few farmhouse tunes, such as "sand"). Paczkowski has been off and on for a while though.

I liked this band better the first time when they were called Phish and didn't suck.

being there, ill just say this. the hall was so small it is basically a room. secondly, half the people didnt realize what they were witness to. being one of maybe 50 people getting down hard as hell, people were laughing at me getting down, instead of paying attention to trey completely tearing the roof off the place. the torrent file from etree is great, but sounds a lot better if cranked up in volume, and should be anyway. thats the way i feel, mr. completely were both so fucking good. lets see what happens tomorrow night, its on.

tspeer's right.... im fucking disgusted at all you so called "phans" bashing big red because he has the balls to make music without page, fish, and gordo. he wanted a different sound with every incarnation of his solo bands and thats exactly what he acheived. im fucking proud of him for keepin on keepin on and all of you should be too. he could have gone into a musicless spiral after phish and he most definately would have overdosed or worse. then where would this reunion be???? you should be fucking ashamed of yourselves. how selfish and close minded can you be???? show that man the love he earned.....from you!!!!

Thank you TSPeer! Phans should stop being so critical. We all miss Phish. We should all go back to "that place", that place where we fell in love with the band and knew that they would always be a part of our lives. As phans, we have something special that most people will never experience- and we have Phish to thank for this gift. We should encourage all of their efforts. And maybe one day they will take us back to "that place".

Trey had some more important things to do. Maybe its harder to stay clean on the road with phish, maybe he should take it slow. If phish got back together and trey died on tour,how would that feel? Like shit!
