hahahaha, all of these comments are funny. No, tDB can't sing. never could. Good jams, lots of drugs. I will never see them in the NEast again tho for the same reason I hate the Eagles (NFL, not terrible old fart musicians), people from Philly suck ass. And...MMJ is a great band, and at all the major festivals I feel bad for the Biscuits bc they have to go up against them and get squashed. Biscuits can come back down south tho and I'll groove with the head spinners all night!

I heard they are having a car alarm open for them, the dirty bisco kids won't know the difference. I hear there will be a soap drive at the door, after five nights the cleaning bill of the Nokia will be crazy. Most disrespectful dirty fanbase ever...would rather see GWAR acoustic with no make up. I'm from Philly. I love Philly. I respect the Bisco boys as good Heads and talented musicians (though the singing admittedly hurts). But their fans? I just can't deal. Too many twacked-out "trust-afarian" coeds that don't know how to handle their sh!t and/or respect the scene. If you're gonna get loose, be cool about it, si? It's a shame, personally, because I watched tDB grow up from a frat house band to a hardworking staple of the jamband community. That said, kudos to the band for their success, and especially Brownie for his great work with HeadCount. Get out and VOTE!!!

There goes my bank account. 5 nights in NYC is going to be extremely pricey, but it will be worth it. I still don't get the furious hate towards the Biscuits. They have proven to be one of the most innovative bands on the scene and if you people actually listened to more than five minutes you would realize that they improvise better than any band since Phish. I think i would rather dance and have a fresh concert experience on NYE than listen to the same MMJ concert as the last one I saw. Plus they always have constant music w/ dj's and other bands on their NYE runs.

Widespread will definitely be opening for Disco Biscuits. Barber told me this himself. He said that not many of the southern widespread fans will travel to NYC so he feels that bisco will have a more solid core fanbase there. He also said that he's been dying to play a show with widespread for a long time. There will likely be a lot of sit-ins. The show is actually going to be billed as "Panic at the Bisco."

why all the hate people? Whether you like them or not, many people dig the Biscuits. The great thing about this scene, besides the people you meet at shows, is the openmindedness of everyone. If you don't like the band, that's fine, but no need to trash their fans or individual taste in music.

Everyone hates one them, yet, their popularity seems to be getting bigger and bigger all the time. I'd rather see them than MMJ, though, who in my opionion, is severly over-rated. and, yes, I have seen both acts live a few times each. MMJ was really boring in my opionion.

General Comments:

-if you like to dance and have fun to good music that is of a more electronic variety, and live in the northeast

then you should go to one of these shows

-If you have some criticism of a particular band, then just dont rely on simple statements like "i like" or "i dislike"

that is way to vague and i know that they taught some of you fools to follow up on opinions with facts and legitimate

arguments one way or the other, i am guess that at least most of the people on this board passed eigth grade, if you havent

i suggest you go back to school, and if your in eighth grade you need some visual "earmuffs" for this board.

-If you call what the disco biscuits do "noodling" then i would prefer that you rethink what you are saying, i dont play

an instrument but many of my friends do and i notice that real jamming and improvisation (which is what the dead, phish and tDB do)

takes time and effort to build up a jam and what may seem as a boring couple of minutes is really minutes of comprehending where

each party is trying to take the jam and build it up using only their instruments and melodic ideas as communication, and tDB do that

pretty well i think, even the dead and to some extent phish had dead periods to their jams.

-STS9 Umphreys Pnuma Trio ect arent jam bands they are bands that preform pre determined orchestral compositions that are awsome

but still they arent jam bands.

-also Lotus, shows most of the bands i mentioned, up

Rothbury was such an amazing festival that it's really hard to say who was the best. It was an inaugural festival in a beautiful and inspiring setting (Sherwood Forest, anyone?) so just about every band brought their A game, no doubt. However, I must say that the Biscuits really were on fire opening things up Thursday night. I am a fan, but definitely not some hardcore Bisco kid. I've been bored at some shows and had great times at others. At Rothbury, they had me locked in the entire 2+ hours they were up there on stage. Very good set IMHO.

God I have so much fun in this scene! I like Bisco and I don't care what other people are doing around me as long as they don't F with me. And if one does I deal with it on a personal level. I'm not a huge Bisco fan but if i could, i would love to make it to one of these shows, if you don't dig them, don't go, simple as that. This is music, not politics, we don't have to get all personal and bash the shit out of each other just for a simple difference in taste.

Wow, I think they are the best at what they do, not my thing now but I've seen some shows I really liked. I've seen tDB a few times and have never seen anyone nearly as jacked up and out of their skulls as what you all make it out to be. I've seen kids at Phish straight OD, I'm talking needles of heroin to the juggler vein (true story, Utah lots) man. And most every Phish show I was ever at (especially 95-99) had at least a couple of drug incidents that I personally witnessed go down (people losing their shit, crying uncontrollably, unable to stand up or move, FREAKING). I'm not sure any of you remember the tour acid from 95-96, the blotter of Jesus Christ? Hell one of my good friends left Phish at Deer Creek on the Jesus and walked to Indianapolis (20+ miles), jumping into the ditch on the side of the road every time he saw a car. Another girl ate the Jesus and left my buddy with their kid and jumped on tour! Another kid I know at Trey in Asheville on Halloween 99' ate 6 rolls and a ten strip and had to be tackled by cops and hospitalized. Where he believed aliens had abducted him and that all his friends were with him, the doctors said he was conversing with invisible people all night! So, lets be real here. The Biscuits scene aint that bad from what I've witnessed. But hey, this is a guy thats twice as old as some of you and I can party twice as hard motherfuckers. I love all psychedelics including N20, want a tank come to Indy, it aint even illegal here so whats the problem? You kids these days are sissified, eat about 20 hits of the L around now and you might be on the level of the Jesus Christ. Although I'm not convinced there is any good L left, just crap designer drugs on blotter paper, no thanks I'll stick with fungus.

tDB rage man, and if you don't like em, don't go. and as far as the rothbury comments go, bisco played one of the most energetic sets of the weekend. i know that my opinion might unleash a storm of bullshit from some people, but simple fact is they brought it when some other groups really didn't...

Let me break it down for those of you who dont understand.

We live in community that sits for the most part on the fringes of the law due to personal recreation activites, and so on. In order to keep our happy little world going, it's in everyones best interest to keep things on the DL. You know, a few small busts here or there on the lot, nothing crazy. Nothing that would draw large scale attention. tdb fans have a pension for:

A. Getting really fucked up more so than other kids, are really obvious about it, drawing attention alot of the times. And,

B: 14,000 hits of acid draws attention to everyone. If there isnt already, the Feds are going to have people at every gathering over 100 people everywhere with a hard on looking for the next big bust.

Long story short. tdb people tend to be irresponsible, and the rest of us dont want the heat. People OD and get busted big all the time, but when you got both going on in the same group of people, something is up.

toeknee420 - oh yeah... like thats true. bisco is bringing heat to other festivals. sure. keep dreaming or listening to moe. or whatever you are doing. festies have been going on forever with the same underground scene, why do you think that after all of these years that BISCO is going to ruin it????

Let me say it a little slower for you this time.

When you have flies and a something smells, your looking at a pile of shit.

Shit has happened a million times over, but you have to question people who dont excersice enough self control to not go into a K hole in front of Security Staff, or get caught trying to push that much shit. Or people who scream they "bring the heat", and dont follow it up with any substance.

Yeah, the Biscuits bring the "heat", and the heat is the Fuzz. Get a clue dipshit. I guess you've never been caught, or daddy always bailed you out. Go talk to someone who lives off the scene and see if they appreciate it. Go back to your bunk drugs queef.

Panic! At The Bisco ... "That's GOLD, Jerry! GOLD!!"

Here are my feelings on Bisco ...

Love their music. Barber's vocals ..... Um ... Er .... Hm .... Next question? LOLOLOL

My biggest problem does have to do with their hardcore fan base. All one has to do is read any thread on the Bisco Phantasy Tour Message Board to get the "attitude" of the average hardcore Bisco fan ... For a group of middle class Caucasian college kids they seem to thrive and live to act like flaming assholes. Not all of them, no. But unfortunately, a VERY large number of them. This is a group that prides itself on the amount of dangerous drugs they can ingest. And I don't mean just at shows. I mean daily. When I read posts from people bragging about "dosing" unsuspecting people with LSD it not only terrifies me it scares the shit out of me. One kid was crowing about some stranger falling asleep in their campsite and how they slipped 5 hits of blotter acid into his mouth and watched him chew it in his sleep. What part of that is totally fucked up escapes these pinheads? Then they have the audacity to accuse people of being cowards for not dropping L. Their belief that if you are not "raging" you are some sort of pussy. Please. I see it this way: Just how lame is your life or the music you supposedly love and listen to that you have to trip to enjoy either one?

Not to mention their pride in the "Nitrous Army". yeah ... Inhaling copious amounts of nitrous oxide out in a dark parking lot until your can actually hear the synapses in your brain start to fry is a brilliant idea. I also find it a bit strange that band itself has not and will not address the uncontrollable drug usage amongst their fans. We all know Brownstein smokes. That is his choice. He is a married adult with kids and if he chooses to be contstantly photographed stoned or holding a bong that is his business. But, Marc? For the good things that have come from HeadCount ... What say you comment on thousands of kids under the age of 18 coming to your shows "rolling face", taking "molly" and "deemsters" and flying so high on LSD that they stand there all night grinding their teeth to nubs?

Now ... This 5 night run at the Nokia? Me, I don't think it is the greatest idea. And I live right outside the City so it's not even a problem for me to go to any if not all of the shows. But to know your fans love the tradition of the EFactory, Hammerstein & Tweeter NYE run and switch it up for what will be a very expensive 5 night run with a night off in the middle in NYC at the most expensive time of the year seems a tad strange. Especially after the bulk of your fans will have just dropped a good chunk of change on Caribbean HoliDaze.

giving someone drugs with out their consent or knowledge is the most evil, low down, and dirty thing someone could possibly do to another, short of killing them or beating them near death. Its a sure sentence for Horrible Karma for anyone that does this sort of thing to anyone else.

Yes, miles ...

The average level headed intelligent human being would agree with you ...

...But according to the average Bisco fan you would be considered an asshole and an uncool pussy for not wanting someone to spray your face with LSD laced water from a squirt gun .... I swear to God ... Go read the Phantasy Tour Board ... It constantly makes me ask the question "Out of 10,000,000 sperm .... This person was the WINNER?"

Going back to a comment I made a day or so ago, I'm not saying the Biscuits are bad, I have seen the Biscuits somewhere between 15-20 times. I was saying to those that for no reason at all say that MMJ sucks, that they need to chill on out. The Biscuits are good for getting sweaty and spinning around in circles, but after a while you get tired of dealing with people who have no life in their eyes left. Drugs are fun, but so is a brain every once in a while. And you might not like MMJ's new album, but The Biscuits haven't made a good album in 10 years, and neither has moe. although The Conch ain't all that bad, even your favorite artists grow up. besides, the name is a play on words jackass....Because I joined this site for the Jam, and mainly I Want More Phish

A Treatise on why there is a disproportionate amount of douchebaggery at Disco Biscuit shows:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've pondered this for quite some time and the conclusion I have come to is that all of the negative aspects of Bisco lot culture results from the fact the Brownstein cocks his hat to the side. The cocked hat represents an attitude of "I am a jamband head, but please don't pigeonhole me in with all of the other peace-loving hippies because I am slightly thuggish." I'm sure most of you realize that the bad apples at these shows are usually kids that think they are hippie with a dash of "gangsta' thug" mixed in. I find that its usually the younger ones that are the usually more hippie-thuggish. They are always trying to "one up" each other and act in a more foolish/irresponsible manner than the other hippie thugs. That ironic part is that they think they are so damn hard, yet they listen to bisco - a band who's entire repertoire sounds like the music at Disneyland's Main Street Electrical Parade. How can the negative aspects be mitigated you ask? We need to get Brownstein to stop promoting a culture of thuggery. The bottom line - He needs to wear his fucking hat straight.

Well, I had a few drinks in me at Rothbury, but I'm not into drugs. Roth was about my 7 or 8th time seeing bisco, and I thought they put on the best show of the weekend. I mainly went to the fest for Panic, primus, the phish guys and stlightly stoopid, all of which put on great performances, but I don't know, maybe cause it was the first night, and everyone was still "fresh" and had tons of energy that just made them the highlite of my weekend. Beleive me, it honestly was a total surprise. After seeing that show, though, I'd go see Disco agian. ON the other hand, I'm a huge STS9 fan, and I thought they're Vegoose Latenight last october BLEW away the rothbury set, but that's just my opinion.

ya these comments are pretty hilarious. Now in my opinion bisco rages and 5 nights nye would be sick but at all their shows ive been to theres always been a darker worse vibe there than other jambands ive seen. I dont know if its the fans or just my attitude it just feels that way to me, not that its not a great time i still dance my ass off. MMJ is good too and it would be a tough choice between the two.

Im glad i live in Chi-town, i already got my nye plans made. 3 nights of Umphrey's will just be filthy.

Usually after visiting this site, I am encouraged in humanity; Most of the general commentary on the Jam base message boards features, as it should, the ideas of thoughtful individuals who often wholeheartedly share their wondrous moments of favorite live shows and life experiences. But still many of us continue to post malicious comments (I have been guilty) that only tear our community apart.

It upsets me to see folks on jam base proudly portray their hate in the form of assumption. But Anger does No good for the Soul.

Instead I try to understand; I understand that people are different. Different tastes, different backgrounds...which bring different approaches to life. Let's bring back the elements that connect the differences within our community!

first to comment on the misinterpretation of my own comments (btw i dont have microsoft word so i cant spell check assholes give me the $150 and i will) sts9 and umphreys are so damn tight because most of the time they practice what they are going to do, they often it seems are so tight that i really doubt that they improvise truly as much as bisco does, this can easily disputed and prolly will get me some neg votes or whatever but thats what i have to say. im not even a bisco head ive only seen like 5 shows or so, and ive seen equal umph shows, love all bands that rock, im down for any good band.

p.s.

i think the real problem in the scene has become an abundance of people seeing the drug market as a means to make a quick buck as opposed to real honest work, and when your motivation is to make money that is not a good vibe, in the sixties owsley gave away as many doses as he sold and its that spirit that will get the scene on the wirte track

what a weak ass tour. I hope they announce some more shows, not all of us have the cash to make it to Jamaica and NYC. By the way bisco has been on lately and usually when a band is on that is when the haters come out and make their opinions. Biscos singing has always sucked but their jams are some of the best. Bisco lot scene is still one of the sketchiest imo.

To all the haters,

I know it is hard to accept that jam music is moving in a different direction. The biscuits and camp bisco have been epic times bringing me and my friends amazing a progressive music. The Disco Biscuits rock and sing some songs well such as m.e.m.p.h.i.s and rock candy and world is spinning, but really i don't care because i don't need lyrics to feel music just sick grooves which the tDB have!!! Also i hear shpongle and Dub war NYC are playing after parties in NY which is huge!!! Shpongle is mind blowing. The Biscuitts have opened my eyes i am a nice guy who spreads happy vibe, but i like some digitized fun so camp bisco rocks. LONG LIVE THE DIGITAL MUHAHAHHAAH SEE U CHILDREN LATER
