Nas Tour In Support of Album

Influential and often controversial multiplatinum New York rapper Nas (Nasir Jones) has announced his full summer tour schedule, in support of his untitled ninth studio album. Produced by Guerilla Union (Rock the Bells, Paid Dues), THE JONES EXPERIENCE--"a big show in an intimate venue," as described by Nas--will feature him along with special guests Talib Kweli, Jay Electronica and DJ Green Lantern performing in small clubs across North America. The 21-date tour kicks off Tuesday, July 22 in Montreal and wraps up Labor Day weekend in Minneapolis. The shows will take place in between Nas' previously announced appearances on this summer's Rock The Bells 2008 International Festival Series, which will also feature Jay Electronica and DJ Green Lantern.

On THE JONES EXPERIENCE tour, Nas states: "I felt this experience was important because I wanted to touch my fans in an intimate setting with this new album. All the fans that have supported me over the years, I truly appreciate it and this is my way of giving back. My album drops on July 15 and I hope to take the movement from the stores to the stage. Bootleg it or buy it... Just make sure you got it."

Nas' untitled album arrives in stores today (July 15) via the Def Jam/Jones Experience imprint and features the first single "Hero." The disc is the follow up to his hugely successful, Grammy-nominated album Hip-Hop Is Dead, which entered the Billboard 200 album chart at #1 in December 2006. The set features collaborations with multiple MCs, musicians and producers including Busta Rhymes, Mark Ronson, the Dapkings, DJ Green Lantern, DJ Toomp, Stic.Man from Dead Prez, Stargate, DJ Cool & Dre and tourmate Jay Electronica.

THE JONES EXPERIENCE will be the only place this summer to see the rare mix of commercially-successful, critically-acclaimed and on-the-rise hip hop artists together in an intimate venue. Tickets information is available on

hoodoo, here's a snippet from wikipedia considering his album 'nigger': "On May 19, 2008, it was confirmed that Nas changed the name of the album to an untitled one, stating that "the people will always know what the real title of this album is and what to call it." Nas is the shit, maybe kanye can take some life lessons from him.

dont like much rap BUT this man is a genius

-outside of the roots i cant see myself really enjoying a rap concert much... besides he plays about 15 minutes everyshow he does, i think this whole tour you see he'll be onstage for about a hour.... it will be a dope hour though for those involved

i might have to make a appearance in san diego (a whales vagina)

if this Nas tour is anything like his last tour, he will perform MUCH longer than 15 minutes, i assure you. i was at the Providence RI show at Lupos about a year ago. he absolutely KILLED it. it was one of the best hiphop shows ive ever been to (and ive been to a LOT). he spanned his entire cataloge. from hits to obscurities, he nailed it.

and to myfavoritebandrules... the difference between sizes in venues might have to do with the fact that Nas is performing with Rock the Bells Festival. tons of other acts. all the performers do a shorter set, like any festival. but its only one day long so you dont have any huge long headlining spot.
