BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE PRESENTS: BRENDAN CANNING
Something For All Of Us Album Release Party on July 17 at NYC's Mercury Lounge

Broken Social Scene's co-founder Brendan Canning will be performing a very special show at New York City's Mercury Lounge on July 17 in celebration of the release of his incredible solo record, Something For All Of Us, the second album in the Broken Social Scene Presents series. Tickets for this show are $30; admission price includes a digital download of the album (within 48 hours) of the time of purchase and a CD copy of the record upon entry to Mercury Lounge. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, July 9 at 12 p.m. via the Mercury Lounges website and via the Ticketmaster website.

Recorded and produced in Toronto by Canning along with Ryan Kondrat and John La Magna, guests include Jason Collett, members of Stars, Metric, Land of Talk and of course, fellow Broken Social Scene members Kevin Drew, Justin Peroff, Andrew Whiteman and more, Something For All Of Us is a shimmering piece of musical goodness, which contains songs that will undoubtedly become Broken Social Scene favorites within their vast catalogue. Touching on everything from Canning's love of early 90s indie heroes such as Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr. to his time spent as a Toronto disco/house DJ, Something For All Of Us ultimately reveals the many facets of Canning's record collection and personality. The result is a true gem of an album.

Brendan Canning can also be seen performing with his bandmates, Broken Social Scene, as part of this year's Siren Music Festival, Saturday July 19 at Coney Island.

i can't say i'm familiar with this band but i get so fucking tired of people trying to make a statement by saying "WHO?" when non-jambands are involved. besides that fact that you, johnny, are brand new to the site, you're not paying to use this site, and nobody's forcing you to be here. so if you're upset that this place is trying to diversify beyond the jamband genre, maybe you should leave and make your own site.

Broken Social Scene is one of the most beautiful journeys you could allow yourself to take. They are very instrumental and explore the potential of sound and music. Listen to their record Feel Good Lost straight through.

briank67 - Boy, you need to ease up. You can't take a joke? I am actually a big fan of BCs ideas and influences and am not "New to the site". Chill out buddy. You are one of those uptight pricks that destroys the music scene.

hi johnny: thanks for the friend invite. and thanks for mentioning me in your profile: i can see you're taking the time right now to change your profile to include your dislike of 'bisco-haters' as well as this quotable: "I wish I could ban scumbags from responding to my comments, like that loser briank67"; your maturity is flattering, and i'm glad you handle criticism so well..... but seriously, i just hope that maybe we've both cooled down, taking your advice to 'chill out' and that's the reason you took my name out of your profile. but starting off a thread with a 'WHO?' immediately makes me think of the actual 'uptight pricks' around here who are uncomfortable with any talk about bands that aren't jambands. if you say it's a joke, it's a joke, and NOW i know but if you've been around here enough to see other people's band-bashing, you know what i'm talking about.... truce?

Losh - Your profile shows a whopping 14 days as member...and that's about it. So, take some advice. Sit on your hands a bit, check things out and avoid the urge to jump on a post first thing in the morning with less than nothing to contribute. If "Who" was to be funny, then you may want to study humor too. Because if you think that's it - you ain't got it.

AS for Canning, I was unerwelmed by the Drew album. Hopefully Canning pulled off something better. It was OK, but his hushy vocals got annoying. This is a band that is more than the sum of its parts.

Broken social scene is a collective of rotating musicians out of toronto with five "more permanent" members at its core. If youre at all familiar with leslie feist she plays a big part in this collective and at the same time shares a bed with kevin drew. Enough backround, Broken social scene is often labeled as indie, emo shit, when in actuality this is a band that does a pretty good job of defying and sort of label. Check out You forgot it in people to get started, lots of very textured instrumental tracks with a very nice sonic quality. itsss niccee

Who is Brocken Social Scene? HAHA just kidding. But seriously I havn't listened to them before. Radio in Atlantic Canada sucks. I need to get Sirius! Pretty much all I listen to is on Archive.org. I just have a better time @ Jamband shows cause lets face it the people are nicer. I've never been miracled into a non-jamband show. You would probably get you ass kicked if you had yor finger up at a mainstream concert. Jam=magic Hippies rule
