Beck Confirms Release Date for New Album Modern Guilt

Beck
Beck new album Modern Guilt, produced with Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton, will be released July 8 on DGC Records in North America and July 7 on XL Recordings in the U.K. and Europe.

The new album contains ten new songs, and with the exception of last year's Grammy-nominated, digital-only single "Timebomb," Modern Guilt is the first new material Beck has written since the prolific stretch that produced 2005's platinum Guero and 2006's universally acclaimed The Information.

Modern Guilt is a tightly assembled group of songs that range in lyrical tone from introspection and social commentary to off the cuff wordplay and lighthearted humor. Musically, the album's ten tracks vacillate between economy and experimentation, hybrid and pop classicism, while consistently manifesting Beck and Danger Mouse's shared interest in psych-rock, folk, electronic minimalism and orchestration.

The complete track listing for Modern Guilt is:

1. Orphans
2. Gamma Ray
3. Chemtrails
4. Modern Guilt
5. Youthless
6. Walls
7. Replica
8. Soul of A Man
9. Profanity Prayers
10. Volcano

Beck is about to embark on a tour of the U.K. and Europe, followed by a number of U.S. headline and festival appearances, culminating in Beck's biggest hometown headline show to date, September 20 at the Hollywood Bowl.

WOOOOOOOOOOO wicked psyched for this I'm surprised they didn't put Timebomb on just for the hell of it and to get it out there in hard copy but oh well. Can't wait for the full U.S. tour that hopefully follows this. Maybe winter or next spring??

Yeah, we definetly need an east coast tour. I saw Beck open up for the Stones and he tore it up. Beck is nasty, and I can't wait to hear this album.

Ah, but remember, by rule of some on the board, he is not a "jamband" or "jamband-like artist." Therefore, by default, I must say that this new album will suck and so does Beck and anyone who has ever had any commercially successful song or album. Heaven forbid they make a music video out of a song.

Of course kidding. I'll celebrate this Beck album like all others. Just pin my ears back and wonder what he'll surprise me with this time. Bout a 98% chance I'll love the challenge as always.

Beck is smart. He knows things about stuff here and there I'd say.

Anyone ever listen to "One Foot in the Grave"? I remember having that in like 94-95 and wanting to drop out of school and go to washington, haha. I think it was on like Special K records or something. Really a gem in my opinion, dont like his new stuff as much but that One Foot was psychedelic as hell. Remember seeing him in 95 and he got dragged of the stage in Memphis about 5 minutes in, basically for antagonzing the cops and then someone launched a bottle and drilled a cop, funny as hell, "I'll be a good boy, so the police wont arrest me.."
