O.A.R. To Perform Interactive Online Concert July 15

O.A.R.
O.A.R. have just announced they are to be the next major artist signed on to perform at the Pepsi Free Concert Series at DeepRockDrive, the world's first interactive online concert venue. The June 16 performance will be the first opportunity for O.A.R. fans globally to interact with the band in anticipation of their July 15 release, All Sides, and the 36-date "All Sides Tour" this summer. O.A.R. will perform their single, "Shattered," from their forthcoming album for the first time live, giving the audience an exclusive front row experience unlike any other.

O.A.R., which includes band members Marc Roberge (vocals, electric & acoustic guitar), Richard On (electric guitar & background vocals), Jerry DePizzo (saxophone), Benj Gershman (bass), and Chris Culos (drums) holds the dubious pleasure of selling out New York City's famed Madison Square Garden - twice, captured in concert on 2007's 2-CD set, Live From Madison Square Garden, as well as a two-disc DVD package, with the same name. All Sides is O.A.R.'s first new studio album since 2005's popular breakthrough, Stories Of A Stranger, which included the band's hit singles "Love and Memories," and "Heard The World."

"Performing at DeepRockDrive will allow us to bring new and old songs to people wherever they may be," said Marc Roberge. "That's the beauty of this show, communicating with an audience that is spread throughout the world. All from Vegas, how can you beat that?"

By logging on to www.deeprockdrive.com/event/5473/o.a.r. O.A.R. fans around the world will experience a live, online, interactive exchange between themselves and O.A.R. Fans can collaborate with the band by sending shout outs to the stage, voting on the next song in the set, personalizing camera angle selections and sending digital applause in the form of emot-applause(TM), which are video game-like icons, such as hearts, fists, and lips that blow a kiss. These animated icons will appear on giant screens in front of O.A.R. while they perform.

The band recorded a personal message to fans that can be seen here:

While I do hate the whole "My band is better than your band" comment,

I feel like someone had to mention what a total joke this band is.

They have always been terrible.

They always will be terrible.

Agreeing to do something this stupid,

is just plain hilarious.

Fail.

Daniel, I couldn't agree more. This band has never rocked and never will rock, unless you're 18 at a frat party and like licking tequila off some guy's nipple while playing poker and listening to the "best song you've ever heard about poker." What a joke!

OAR sucks, Black keys and MMW at the same time isn't to bad if you see who you get to skip on the main stage. I am def. going to pick the black keys though. SO NASTY!

In 2003 I saw these guys rip it up in front of maybe 250+ fans in venue parking lot in a sense. Then they became road warriors with relatively low amounts of mainstream distribution. Three years later, they sold out MSG TWICE. Yeah maybe they did sell out a little bit but essentially what band has never sold out in one way or another? I am confused by the fact that some people on this site bitch about this band. It's music folks and you should be appreciative towards a band that accomplished and will continue to accomplish what they have set out to do. Sorry your precious Tea Leaf Green, Railroad Earth or whatever tube ripping burn out band could never say they grew exponentially. You are only ourselves if you believe that certain bands never want to make it and get big. Say whatever about these guy's concerts, least the majority of the crowd gets some nice tail at the end of the night after listening to a group of guys that actually have clarity and focus. Not some drug induced experience that 'takes you to another level'.

Enjoy community college gents...the hippies will always lose.

I applaud the effort, TripleoG, but no, O.A.R. fucking sucks. Back to the drawing board.

I agree with TripleoG. O.A.R. is not as bad as everyone makes them out to be.

I don't go to a community college, and O.A.R. sucks. I tried to see them last year and left after a few songs. Vocals-awful, instrumentals-average at best, lyrics-bad. They really are as bad as everyone makes them out to be.

Any musician who says they aren't in it for the money is a liar. How can you call someone a sell-out because they have found a way to make money in their trade/job/hobby. Does that mean Phish sold out too? How about the dead? They made shitloads of $$$. The top grossing touring act of all time, if I'm not mistaken. How many times did they sell out the Garden? I dont like OAR, so I dont see OAR. (Rugmunchers - hilarious) You know all these bands are doing is battling each other for our disposable income. Soon enough we will all be paying $6 for gas and we wont have any money to do other things, like see shows, pay mortgages, and get fat. Three things we americans cant live without......

If you looked up the word "tools" in the dictionary, there would be a picture of the people in the audience at an O.A.R. show.

It's not close-minded to say a band is terrible. If we weren't allowed to perceive which music sucked ass (i.e. O.A.R.), how would we able to know what good music was? Bad music is bad music, dude. Plain and simple.

unfortunately, some website has a link that opens up and downloads that MSG show from archive.org everytime someone visits said website. That is why they have an extremely large number of downloads for that show. There is no way that show has been downloaded by almost three million people, and the number 2 download has only 350,000 hits. Why do people get so upset when someone trashes their favorite band? Do you get this rabid if someone disses your favorite sports team? OAR blows. Get over it. Or get used to it.

i think this is a cool idea. i have been streaming live shows off iclips for a couple months and it is a lot of fun and a hell of a lot cheaper than going to every show i want to. OAR might not be the headiest band out there but their songs are poppie and you can bounce your head and move your feet to a lot of them. i will definitely watch this and drunkenly sing along to some cheesy songs that i appreciate for what they are.

the digital icons being played back to them is a little weird though

peace!
