Calexico Album/Tour

Calexico Return with Carried To Dust, Tour To Follow

Two years after Garden Ruin, Calexico has returned and is offering up Carried To Dust, the new full-length record due September 9, 2008.

For Carried To Dust, Calexico co-founders Joey Burns and John Convertino called on a rotating cast of musicians and friends to help them create what is arguably their most varied and strongest work to date. The band lineup that solidified around Feast of Wire is back again, along with a number of guests, including Sam Beam, Douglas McCombs, and Pieta Brown.

This new record is a shining example of Calexico's commitment to constantly molting and redefining who they are. A continued examination of their sources of inspiration, Carried To Dust is the next step in Calexico's ongoing quest of moving forward while never turning its back on the past.

Along with extending the collaborative bridges with other artists, Carried To Dust also reflects Calexico's amazing live shows, as well as underscoring the band's restraint and beauty. A remarkably well-rounded album, Carried To Dust showcases every aspect of Calexico's exceptional talents.

Very nice. This band is awesome live and on record. They shouldn't neglect the southwest like they are on this tour - that's their bread and butter. But I'm sure they'll be around.

Also, check out The Cave Singers. It'll be worth it.

If it makes you feel any better they neglected the Southeast too. I kind of understand. If I were in a touring act I'd only come south in the winter months as well.

I would LOVE to see them play Rothbury. They're in Detroit, MI on 7/5. I wish they could/would play the fest on 7/3, or 7/4. That'd be a GREAT addition

I've been checking these guys out on and they're great. Too bad they're not playing more US shows, esp. Ohio.

Calexico is one of the best bands playing right now, bar none. The new album is phenomenal, their most beautifully composed effort to date. It seems to mesh all the other albums and styles into one absolute, explosively awesome LP. My soul tingles when I see them live, and for that, I thank them.
