Scat is an idiot, the new cd is great...not news though, this cd is literally being handed out all over the place. "Touch me (pt II)" should be crunchy live...

laughable lyrics scat?? really??

Have you had enough excitement now

more than you ever did

You never wanted to be treated like a woman

You maintained you was just a kid

Well at least you were of age my dear

these days kids they grow so fast

You never wanted to be committed to the present

You're too busy believing in the past, oh

Who then was your savior

Who then was your friend

Who is now committed to the present

Is it someone that exists

What is life in God?

A perfect vision of the self?

I always thought we was dealing with one thing

Now we are dealing with something else, oh

Do you see my smoking guns

they're smoking from a shootin'

smoking from shootin'

smokin' from shootin at nothing here

Do you live your life on the road?

Yeah loosing that I'm loving

Asking for nothing

Runnin' from something that isn't there, oh

Looking forward to this, and hoping this doesn't cause them to get super huge.

"sorry to break it to the rest of you, but the new album really isnt very good. like many of you, i got a leaked version a couple months back and have listened through it a bunch of times. sure, its catchy-ish, and the soul-pop-prince-r&b sound is interesting, but there is no way this album holds a light to any of their last 3. new jammy fans will probably go kookoo for this thing, but most seasoned mmj listeners are going to be disappointed. and jim james' falsetto is not good at all. and most of the lyrics are laughable. sorry guys. go in with an open mind and decide for yourself.

im sure their live shows will still be top-notch though..."

Well said sir. Def the worst MMJ album to date.

George W. Bush II

scat it you got it a few months ago then you got the incorrectly titled swsx performance...the actual leak wasnt available until about 3 or 4 weeks tops.

I for one think its their best yet!

It seems like common courtesy to not disparage an album until after its official release. Would you people hang around the playground and tell kids about the ending to Crying Game?

i as well was EXTREMELY dissapointed with this album. It's a joke, i really can't believe how bad it is. What happened to this band? This band was great around the At Dawn period. Z was alright, had a couple great songs and a couple horrible songs. Evil Urges is just garbage in my opinion

I don't care what you music snobs say, I love this band and this album. Is it the most impressive and enlightening album I've ever heard? No, and nothing ever is for some of you guys. But, I love this band and Jim James' voice, so I can dig it.

I hope one day you guys find an album you can truly just accept for what it is: one new album among millions in a year. Listen, take it, and move on.

ya it was their fault for having the album come out so late since they finished recording it last winter, it was bound to get leaked out. But the album rocks and hasn't left my cd player for about a month now. I can't believe some of you don't like it, maybe you have the volume down too low, its bets heard at max. Oh and bonaroo late night of mmj is going to be the shiznizle

I love MMJ!! These guys leave their souls on the stage every time. A lot of musicians out there are hit or miss. If you go to a MMJ show, you get twice the ticket price on every performance no matter what!!! I have my good time coming August 30, see you in Orlando Mr. James!!

this album in my opinion is great. Some of the lyrics are more straightforward than James' normal delivery however the instrumentation is top notch. James' creative off the wall approach to the record makes it like an adventure reminding me of an LP of the 70s. I can understand why some people may not like the record but it doesn't mean that live this band is not going to fucking blow everyone away. You obviously have not seen them especially at roo. Wish I could catch them there. Waiting for Louisville and KC... Whose going to Lou Ville?

I saw them at B-roo in '04 and I was less than impressed. Now, I love Radiohead, and there are people can't understand them. So I take back my negative comment and replace it with " I just don't understand this band". I am probably the one missing out. But thats ok with me.

Can someone explain this band to me? What their music means? Why it is so deep? Not being sarcastic, but maybe it will give me a different veiw point the next time I listen to them.

just checked this out and i dig it. some good tunes, the song 'evil urges' is a little rough to get through, the falsettos kind of turned me off but the music is good. i really liked 'aluminum park'. can't wait to hear the rest of it and october 3 at the riverside!

Not surprised by a few people 'not getting' the album or not feeling it, and I def agree with trusmoka that this is an album that grows on you (esp a song like highly suspicious which will be killer live. Ive only listened to othe whole album a couple times (you can listen to the whole thing NOW on their myspace page), but I think its a very good album. What At Dawn was to The Tennessee Fire, Evil Urges is that to Z. This album really just reflects on a lot of the various parts of life, however important or minimal they may be, and to me does so with brilliance. Songs like Librarian, Sec Walkin, Smokin from Shootin, Touch Me Part 2< Im Amazed, and Evil Urges are all almost immediately captivating and great. It will be hard for them to ever top It Still Moves and At Dawn, but its a very good album nonetheless...vast majority of critics seem to agree
