I was down there in Asheville at AmJam... what an excellent time!!! I'm not a fan of Gov't Mule... and this show confirmed it. They are great musicians, and I respect their talent. But man, those lyrics need major help and someone needs to sing other than Warren Haynes.

Wow...I was stoked to see this. 2 nights in my town. Unfortunately $86.60 (per night) for a ticket is a little bit out of my price range for Gov't Mule and a Dead cover band... All I can say is that you really have to be shitting me boys...WTF?!!

not only was AmJam a ridiculously cool/small/absurdly heady/awesome festival, but the mule set itself was nasty - warren was born and raised in asheville so generally as xmas jam/pre-jam goers know mule shows in asheville are usually special. the buffalo springfield cover w keller had a nastyy funky intro and generally was a sweet cover. my favorite band. dont hate on their capacity to tour more than anyone out there - great group of guys too. we'll be in trouble when warren and the boys lay it down to rest, that wont be anytime soon though. DSO tonight in NYC at irving plaza (fillmore) why the hell did they stupidly rename that anyway?

There are only a handful of bands I still find interesting after seeing them over 10 times and the Mule is definitely one of them. It never gets old and they always mix it up well. If you think you can write better songs or sing better than Warren more power to you! But, as Jerry used to say, keep your day job 'till your night job pays.

Are you all kidding me??? Hey Navin R. Johnson, If you're gonna rip on Warren and the Mule, please remove the Allman Brothers from your list of favorite bands. Hey Nitty Gritty, you too, remove Drive By Truckers from your faves. Let's rip on a band for playing lots of shows each year. Y'all should start following some top forty acts that play about 50 shows each year(if they're bored, or have an extremely over-produced album coming out). You dont belong in our scene if you think playing lots of shows is a BAD thing. You are TOOLS. Long Live Music FO' YO' ASS.

Navin,

Where does Michael Bolton come in the picture, I don't understand what you're saying. Its funny how you have a picture of Mike tearing it up and you're knocking on a band for playing "two hundered" times around your town. Sounds like you're the one bringing the negativity. Staying on the road is what sets these bands apart from those in other genres.

Quick question for anyone who was at Mtn Jam last year: I heard that there was some serious searches by cops w/ dogs on the way in, is this true? Was it as intense as it sounds? Any help is appreciated...and that tour looks vicious.

I caught the Mule at AmJam. Hadn't seen them in a good long time. Enjoyed it very much. Anyone catch the Beck(Loser) quote or Purple Haze, or Les Brers In A Minor quotes?

8/8 is last Mule show in SC then I guess 2-3 days of rehearsals in Hot 'Lanta with ABB before they go to NY?

BTW wonder what the below means for the future of the Christmas Jam in Asheville(I know they're already plannning to do another in NYC this year)? TWMA is housed in the same building as the CC. And I've heard rumours that the city may be tearing it(CC) down -->

i love these guys, i wish i could have seen allen woody though, he was incredible. oh, and yeah they do tour a whole bunch, but truth be told, that works out for everyone. noone said that you had to go see them EVERY time that they roll on through your town. essentially, it makes it a lot better for many people that dont really have the funds or ability to see a band on the one date they play relatively close to home a year. im all for the mule touring heavily, they obviously just love playing music together, as well as rocking my face.

RE: Mtn.Jam...dogs, cops, search of course.......thats everywhere BUT just don't be a Richard Head and everything is cool.As far as Camping goes..bring a large wheeled man-powered moving appuratus(-.sp) Hence a beach wagon, the Mtn. is very steep. I got a picture last year of a black bear stealing a loaf of bread from someones camp sight. There ARE bears in the upper part of the ski area. MULE SET ROCKED! Long live Warren and Warren, jr.

Hey Makisupa, thanks for the tip. I was going to the Columbus show anyway but thought I would definitely need more than $10 for 2 tix! Bought them today for $5 each, wow. I couln't afford Wanee this year so it will be even more sweet seeing the Mule for the first time in over a year. I still miss the Balimore/Washington music scene but Ohio isn't so bad either. Anybody who think Mule tours "too much" is an f-ing idiot. There is no such thing as touring too much. That's like telling your girlfriend she gives too many BJs. WTF?

Wish I couldve hit AMJAM, did anyone there happen to catch Shane Pruitt on Sunday morning? I know him from living in S.C. and was stoked that he got a chance to play this fest. I cant believe how many of you are hatin on Warren, the MULE is the best thing going in my mind. Just caught both shows in New Orleans, smoking. And anyone who says WArren cant sing take a listen to "Grinnin in yo Face" from Nola. Or Smokestack, or Death dont have no mercy, ect.

Warren Haynes is one of the sickest guitarists out there today. He can sing his ass off too. Anyone who says otherwise is either deaf or should find a nice emo band to cut their wrists to.
