At first I was very excited by this news, Trey is now on probation for three years and can leave new york and do things again. However my fear is that he's not completely clean, goes back on road gets busted and goes to jail for a long time. So I hope that our pal is better and ready to play for us all again, I just hope this wasn't jumping the gun too soon.

Thank you for saying what I was trying to figure out how to say. Trey needs no part of the behemoth known as Phish. It won't only do him harm in the long run. It is the same reason Jerry should have stepped back from the GD after his health troubles in the mid eighties, but that behemoth money train was rolling too strong down the tracks for people to let Jerry be. Anyone who saw a good number of shows the last few years knows that the unlikely reunion tour will be far off because it took them years to all find the same wavelength and they should have enough pride not to comeback and put on mediocre shows like we saw on many nights before the break up. Trey needs to worry about staying clean and that typically means staying off the road. I would rather see him healthy than in concert. Thanks for all the memories. We'll all still be here when your good and ready.

Well said. If you missed phish, you missed phish, thats it. Plus, I love how people are talking about a reunion as if they'd come back and rock shit. I bet if they ever do tour again, they will suck, even worse than post hiatus, which was pretty painful, especially for those of us who saw them in the glory days. The band didn't play one decent show since about one year before the "hiatus". Although I loved this band when they were touring, I certainly don't blame them for breaking up, because they HAD become just a caricature of themselves. Good news for the youngins though, phish did spawn a whole new generation of sub-par wannabee noodlers that you can tour with, so you've got that going for you.

Trey should stay off tour for a long while, play a show here and there and get his shit together just like Jerry should have done. Trey will be with us for years to come. Don't push him. But as a sidenote, I would much rather Phish get back together than SCI.

I'm pretty sure cheese only broke up because phish had done it a few years before, same reason they did a hiatus shortly after phish did. If phish gets back, you can rest assured those cheesedicks will follow suit. And they are the best example of a sub-par wannabee phishy band mentioned in my previous post.

I agree with most everyone, that a reunion tour would suck. Maybe I think that cause, after my first show I knew Phish was on to something good, and I busted my ass to see as much as I could, knowing it would end one day. You won't find moments in a box.

Jenny, sorry that some of us are younger... it's not our fault. Actually, I prefer being younger (sucks to be old huh?) Good for Trey, I hope he stays clean. Being a friend of many junkies, I know it's a difficult process. As for a tour, I think that for what they would charge, it wouldn't be worth it.

First off, it's wishy washy with the whole reunion thing. I don't think they'll do it for years if at all. Phish was always one of the more unique bands to ever exist. My personal favorite, however they have kind of become like LSD for me; a great party that I always loved, but it's ran its course and now we have to move forward in life. I love Phish as much as anyone, but I don't think they'll ever tour again. The best thing would be to play a two or three day fest every couple of years. That way Trey doesn't get sick of it, and it wont just be another place for hippies to keep there life-line of touring in their systems. But if you think for a minute that everything post hiatus was crap, then you're a fool, and should really check out the New Year's Run in Miami 12/28/03-12/31/04. The four best nights of my life. And yes, their albums started to show Phish swimming in a different current, but the albums were still very amazing, and their live shows only got better. Have fun listening to stale cheese. I'll be swimming with the Phish heads. Love you Big Red. Stay sober. And thanks for all the great memories.

Agree %100. It would be awesome if they just played a fest or two per year or have a 2-3 day campout themselves and just leave it at that. And make ticket prices really high so it doesn't fill up with dirtballs. They should not do full-blown tour again.

Nothing will ever compare to Jerry and Phish in their prime as far as "jam" goes. As for a tour, they wouldn't overcharge ridiculously for a ticket, and even if they did us older people have things called jobs.

Oh and I'm not "blaming" anyone for being young. My comments were directed and specifically for people who actually think Phish is going to get back together in the next 5 years and just won't stop talking about it. i think trey will tour when he is ready. i am also awaiting the phish reunion and maybe sobriety is the ticket for trey to get his head out of his ass. i love the man, but nothing he's done solo even remotely compares to phish. much love trey. hope to see you again soon. that's my $.02.

and by the way, SCI suck! they will never be even remotely close to as good as phish, except for the wanna be's that that they are. i'm also in that over 30's crowd that have seen phish 33 times exactly, only one of those shows after the hiatus. i would love to see phish again. i agree that it would be harder to get a ticket, that started in the late 90's. i heard trey on charlie rose and all of us do not understand why. i've heard that the rest of the band did not want to break up and that it was all trey. i think things started changing when trey started hanging out with kid rock and les claypool, his head got bigger and so did his habit. regardless of what the man does, i will still go see him if he comes close to home, but would only tour if it were phish. there were three other members to that band that were just as equal and that's why solo shit don't compare, he needs to remember that. a break is find, but permanent is too much. i'm done.

Phish is a legend. They are not the same people anymore and neither are we. Its great that Trey got out of trouble and I hope he can maintain that. I personally want Phish to play again but their own way under their own terms whether anyone likes it or not. And for any comparison to any other band, how would you like to be compared to someone else, its just fucking stupid.

I don't foresee a Phish reunion in the near future...that would be a bad thing for Trey I think. I have some friends that had some opiate problems and every day is a constant battle. I think the Phish/parking lot scene would be something that Trey is really trying to avoid for awhile... Although I did read a great interview with Chris Kuroda (here's the link: http://www.jambands.com/Features/content_2008_05_04.00.phtml) where Chris says that Trey has "big plans" as he had spoken to him 2 days prior. I am kind of in the same boat as Jenny Jen. I'm older now. I actually came onto the scene rather late (I was 20 when I saw my first show in 1999) but I have seen almost 40 shows since then. I now, and always have had a full-time job and I would follow the band for a leg or 2 each year when time permitted. I can see how the young ones want to see Phish. I never got to see Jerry. But I feel that generation X,Y had an amazing thing as far as having Phish. They were truly the last great jamband, and by that I mean being able to pack an amphitheatre like the Tweeter Center or MSG. I don't really see many bands that could take up the mantle that Phish left behind. There is a reason why this is the last year for the Jammys.

Since I am in the "Over 30" crowd I defer to the Wisdom of Jenny Jen, Jimmy Dean and Denverguy had some of the most insightful and hillarious comments i've seen in a while! By the way, if your still in Denver denverguy, my wife and I are flying into Denver this Thursday night and going STRAIGHT TO SANCHO's. We moved to Austin about 4 years ago, and have all our concert BUDS meet us there for a reunion drink or 5 every year when we come back. you know what's wack? anyone who has been ripping on younger phans and the fact that they "missed out". I mean, its clear that anyone who got to see phish tour in their prime got the better end of the stick so to speak, but why should you feel that you are somehow better than anyone who didn't. Coventry happed when I was twelve so I never got to see a show and as much as I want to see one, after listining to phish from all eras and their solo projects I can't see why as musician's they would get back together. the sound od the solo's is so different and anything they did would be ripped as a letdown by haters because they have done almost everything worth doing and it would take two years for them to get theire chemistry back.

Wow, every thread on this site turns into band bashing, I find it hard to believe that so many people just hate on such great bands. A huge reason for alot fans to go to the shows is the enormity of the party you're attending with so many like minded people. Seeing how things turned out in August of '95, if you could've maybe taken some of the pressure off Jerry by saying, "You don't have to tour for our sakes - we love you and we want to to be healthy and with us a long time", would you have done it? All you who think your too old to hit the road at 30, its all in the mind, Im soon to be 34 an can tell you Id be right there touring IF IT happens. In my opinion a lot of my old friends that deserted the scene in 99-00 helped contribute to the downfall of it. At the Dead you had tribes who helped the kids learn the way, Phish was just a free for all, its just a reflection of society as a whole really. If they do it I hope its full out 96 style, there would be less demand 4 tix if they did many many shows

i think pages letter answered all your questions, however i will say this. If Trey has put some real time into his recovery and is seriously working the program of the 12 steps that has worked for millions, he can be anywhere at anytime and he will remain clean. If you can recover the obsession will be lifted and you will not use if you remain spirtualy fit. I hope he is doing it for real and not playing games with the drug court.
