Bonnaroo Makes TV Debut

FUSE BECOMES EXCLUSIVE TV PARTNER OF 2008 BONNAROO MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL
Three-Year Partnership Brings Premier Music Festival On-Air For First Time

Bonnaroo 2007 by Josh Miller
Fuse, the national music television network, has signed a three-year agreement with the Bonnaroo Music Festival, to become the exclusive television partner of the Festival, which takes place on a 700 acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee, June 12-15. The deal marks the first time in its seven-year history that Bonnaroo has ever aired on a national television network and will include live on-air programming and on-demand content, as well as extensive marketing and promotion. This year's Festival will feature performances by Pearl Jam, Metallica, Jack Johnson, Kanye West and Alison Krauss & Robert Plant, along with more than 100 other bands.

"Fuse recognizes that some of the biggest events in the music calendar are festivals, and when you think about premier music festivals, you can't get much bigger than Bonnaroo. This partnership becomes a major event for Fuse and reinforces our commitment to bringing the biggest and most popular music events to our viewers," said Eric Sherman, president, Fuse. "If you can't make it to Manchester this year, Fuse is providing viewers a unique opportunity to experience the energy and music of Bonnaroo, past and present, and Fuse is the only place on TV you can get it."

With more than six hours of programming, fans will get an insider's view into Bonnaroo like never before. "Fuse Live from Bonnaroo," will provide viewers with live primetime weekend coverage from the grounds of the 2008 Festival, including highlights of each day's performances taken from the main stage, artist interviews and exclusive behind-the-scenes access. "Best of Bonnaroo Vol. I" showcasing some the best performances and happenings from the seven year history of the Bonnaroo, will air on Fuse just prior to the Festival and Vol. II and III will air quarterly thereafter. Fuse host Steven Smith will be shooting "Steven's Untitled Rock Show" episodes from the grounds of Bonnaroo and be reporting back live to the Seventh Avenue Studio in New York City on Festival happenings, exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes action, which will also be available on www.fuse.tv and Fuse Mobile.

FUSE is so main stream the only coverage you will see on that channel is going to be Metalica, Lame ass Kayne, even worse Jack Johnson and any other main stream act that I can't think of right now. I have nothing against all of these artists just not my cup of tea. There are alot of great bands at Bonnaro this year but they will not be getting any coverage on FUSE that is for sure.

hippies make me laugh..meat heads make me commit suicideee.

the band lineup is just hippie enough with the late nights and some other bands, but they have surrounded it with this bubblegum fasade with headliners and marketing, but now fuse being on air live? my last memories of bonnaroo were definitly not going to be able to be played on primetime tv.but i haven't been there for a few years

Like any festival, the first couple of years are the best. I think I'm done with 'big' festivals. You spend more time racing around trying to see everyone you can and less time seeing a longer set by the ones you really want to see. Bonnaroo 2002 - Fantastic! Vegosse 2005 -- Bad Ass! I love the small one's like Las Tortugas and Four Peaks.

Since I'm not going, I think it will be cool to be able to watch it at home. I'll admit, I'm not the biggest fan of Superfly right now(being also a die-hard VEGOOSE fan), but this is good for thier business. Having said that, I'll repeat the word "Business". You can hate on the line-up and what Bonnaroo has become, but never forget that it is, and always will be a Business to Superfly. At least it's FUSE and not MTV, who I'm sure would limit the coverage to about 3-4 artists. FUSE isn't that bad of a channel, and maybe good ratings for the fest will equal better programing on that channel(as far as stuff that appeals to me and you). I do enjoy that NOFX show they have on right now, and I havn't been a big NOFX fan since highschool (i'm 26 now). Anyhow, judging from a Metallica festival performance I watched on youtube from last summer, FUSE will be forced to showcase many different artists to keep people watching. I used to love Metallica when I was younger, however, Now-a-days, it's just 4 older men who seem to have trouble keeping up with each other, hence, not very entertaining, actually somewhat sad and embarassing. have fun at the the Roo, kids.

Ok don't bash bonnaroo. It hands down has the best line-up year in year out. people complain about the frat bands being there, DONT SEE THEM!! There are over 140 bands at the festival I'm sure you can find at least one playing on the over 10 stages they have that you'll like. This lineup is amazing no festival has phil lesh dropping bombs late into the morning, while sigur ros plays their haunting melodies, while Dj Tiesto drops insane beats all at the same time?!!?!? When most festivals were done adding bands, Bonnaroo added a whole New orleans tent equipped with a New orleans superjam hosted by George Porter Jr. So don't knock bonnaroo because it's mainstream this is the same company that throws the mother of all music festivals, Jazz Fest so they know what theyre doing. And what theyre doing is throwing an unforgettable weekend of mmusic know matter what kind of music you're into

For me personally All Good is where it is at. Not huge, but not small and always a lineup that stays true to the scene. I'm not gonna lie...if I'm not out from June 12-15 I'll probably be hanging out burning one down, drinking some brews, grilling some meats, and catching Roo on T.V. I too am happy there wasn't an M before that t.v. Roo is unGodly huge though, which Rothbury is as well...need a damn motor scooter to catch acts. Can't deny the Roth lineup though...unreal and definitely better than Roo this year.

If someone isnt into big festivals then you wouldn't enjoy Bonnaroo no matter who was playing. Honestly why would you want to subject yourself to Tenn. in July anyway. I do agree that they are making business moves and it will change much of the dynamic of the crowd. The difference between Meatheads partying and Hippies partying are obvious. Less good vibes, more fighting, more sloppy drunken ego trips, less hugs more poo dollars, that many more bunk drugs, an already busy green crew having to do twice as much work. I could go on but you get the idea.

There are dozens of smaller festivals that embody what many are looking for in their festival experiences. Great grassroots music, tons of good vibes, the feeling of family and community. My personal favorite is the High Sierra. This is the biggest little festival. Many complain about paying extra for the latenights but all the bands play more than once. Most who have gone to High Sierra would probably agree the latenights are topnotch, and there is always something going on that doesnt cost extra. I have been to 3 HSMF 2001, 2002, and 2003. I have had some of my best festival memories at the High Sierra. Where else can you find the Mutherfunkers playing a set in the woods for 8 hours!

Have fun at whatever festivals you decide to go to. Be safe and take care of your brothers and sisters.

Music is the Intergalactic Mating Call,

Bonnaroo has got to take a step back and see what it has become....

And on a side-note, FUSE has insane amounts of commercials (because it blows so damn hard), just for those of you who plan to watch it at home.

Cheese rules.

Let the haters hate. I'll be at bonnaroo with a group of my best friends dancing in the sun all day and in the tents all night as we've done for the past few years. That's what it's all about for me. Hanging out with the crew and hearing great music for four days.

Summer Camp and Bonnaroo here we come. Hope to run into some of you good vibed people.

Well, i was gonna watch, but now with this "insain ammounts of commercials" news, i don't know. Try not to bitch for the sake of bitching, please. Like I said before, not too big on the lineup myself, but come on, hating on FUSE because of the large amounts of commercials? Relax.

Of course it's gonna sell out, there is money to be made and that's what any of you here would do...right or wrong. The lineup has gone downhill each year...have fun with the college crowd and a dude with a Metallica shirt shoving to get to the front for a "Enter Sandman" set opener. Next year: Smashing Pumpkins and Toby Keith (at this rate at least)

While it does seem that Bonnaroo has sold out beyond the acceptable threshold, all of purists out there should not forget that the original Woodstock was also a profit driven venture and if it weren't for a 10s of thousands of people showing up without tickets, it would have remained a profit driven venture. Just trying to put some of the hating into perspective.

Bonnaroo is less jam-band oriented but shit, the music is unbelievable regardless. I'm much more disappointed with FUSE. I liked it back in the day, but they have not developed as a music channel further into a more distinguishable role but rather have become an pseudo-MTV. They air reality shows and are more concerned with Top 40 radio play rather than good music play. Steven is going to show mostly well-known bands and then he'll act really psyched about someone more obscure like Jose Gonzalez, they'll show one of his songs, and then they'll never put him back on the channel. FUSE will definitely turn Bonnaroo into the Frat Party that it ISN'T.

What Bonnaroo has done is acquire the greatest bands of our time and put them in a massive field for the weekend. Who cares if Kanye's there? He's very talented - there are perhaps better rappers or different rappers, but he's got real talent and deserves to be at a music festival for real talent. That's Bonnaroo.

Ok. My boyfriend and I have gone to the past 6 Bonnaroo's. And we have always had a great time. Minus the 14hr trip. Anypoop. I doesn't matter what festie your going to(And we have been to quit a few in the past 6 years we've been together.) you alwasy run into the obnoxious Frat Turds. They are frickin' everywhere. And regardless, even though I am taking my 18(his second Roo) and 16(his first Roo) year old brothers, I none the less have bunch of perfect examples of how they SHOULD NOT act at festies. I know it will be a good time, it always is. Make the best out of crazy situations. You never know what good can happen.

If they show some Mule, Trucks and other cool stuff it could be great. If its nothing but Kanye & Metallica it will suck. But the whole idea of festivals on live TV is great. Personally, my surround-sound cable set-up beats the hell out of my computer set-up for webcasts so bring it on.
