Black Angels Album Out Now

"The Black Angels bring the aura of mid-1966 -- the drilling guitars of early Velvet Underground shows, the raga inflections of late-show Fillmore jams, the acid-prayer-stomp of Austin Avatars, the 13th Floor Elevators, everywhere they go, including the levitations on their second album, Directions to See a Ghost." -David Fricke Rolling Stone

Directions to See a Ghost is the follow-up to The Black Angels' critically acclaimed debut, Passover. Not only do these Austin rockers make great records, they do strange wonderful things on stage. Lucky for you they are about to set off on a huge tour. See below:

the black angels do it again with another amazing album. "passover" was great but i was left wishing they'd do less lyrically and jam more. they definitely sound a lot more instrumental on this new album. my friends have listened to these guys and thought they were either the doors or jefferson airplane, and i really think these guys are great at reviving that 60s psych sound while still sounding unique. "directions" sounds so nicely-produced: the studio version of "snake in the grass" is amazing, the screams seem to fade in and out of nowhere... the black angels rock! can't wait for this tour to hit chicago!
