sweet setlist. although i could think of a couple better encores than cold rain and snow. but the show looks like it was sweet. good to see some jackie songs getting in there. can't wait to see them over the summer.

Fuckin-A first set! That's sweet! Can't wait for Allgood! Hoping since Mule and MSMW are playing Friday night as well, we'll see Warren and John come out.

This show was great...The first set was a tad slow and mellow...But the second set was amazing...From the Eyes onward, it was just complete psychedelia....This set sounded just as good as any set with the quintet....The following night was also solid, but didn't quite have the energy and feel...This band is starting to really sound like a "band" and not just a bunch of guys Phil threw together...I saw them at Red Rocks and the Fillmore last fall, and they didn't sound anywhere near as good as they do now....I would still like to see them employ a better Keyboard player (Molitz is average), but as a whole, it was a good time.

Yup, yup - two great nights in Denver! Unlike, marc, I found the first set to be pretty energetic and full of anticipation. The "Chest Fever" set things off and the Scarlet>Fire was great - Molo owned. You're spot on about that second set though, man. Huge, huge wad of weird!! Don't miss these guys if you get the chance.

Last night in SF, they played the entire First GD Album for the first set, with Bobby sitting in, and the entire second album, Anthem of the Sun, for the second set, also with Bobby

Just woke up after last nights phil show at the warfield and all I can say is HOLY SHIT. First set was the GD's first album. Being distracted by the go-go dancers, it took me a few minutes to notice Bobby on stage during cream puff war. Second set was the GD's second album(anthem, also with bobby). Jackie greene did a kick ass job on Caution. The best post-jerry dead related show I've ever seen. Even though we were outta there by 11:30 (thanks Live Nation, I guess the homeless waste products that live in the warfields doorway need to get some sleep), a great show, how do they top that over the next four nites????

I only attended the second show (5/9) -- as I decided to see Hot Tuna play a killer show at the Fox Theatre (with special guest Sally Van Meter for the last two songs of the first set). The first set really didn't get going for me on 5/9 until Jackie's fine rendition of High Time and a punchy Casey Jones. The second set had its high points, such as a well-executed Sittin On Top Of The World and New Potato Caboose. However, the Playin' was a bit sloppy (with its jam taking too long to go anywhere), and the Sugar Mags was frankly missing Bob Weir. While the band has improved since last Fall (which I attended the fun-but-not-great Red Rocks show), my impressions was that the band is solid overall, but nowhere near the level of the great PLQ; the post-GD band which I consider the standard (and not any of "the Dead"). Of course, this band is more song-oriented, to be fair, but they simply do not go "out" as well as the PLQ. Regardless, seven years ago, I would travel out of state to catch the PLQ. Today, when *any* post-GD band is in town, they are no longer an automatic option for me; as it is more nostalgia to me than forward. YMWV...if you're enjoying Phil's current band, do so to the fullest.

Very nice photos!

manjotar - The touchscreen in front of Phil was also in front of all the other members except Jackie. I also noted that, and was assuming that it is a high-tech type teleprompter for lyrics etc. Jackie had a 3-ring binder in front of him, as he like to roll old school.......

The touchscreen is a digital sheet music system. Phil started using it the last time the band toured as "The Dead" with Jimmy and Warren. He's been using it ever since. Bob uses it with Ratdog as well. Pretty sweet little unit actually, you can check it out at http://freehandsystems.com/
