Trey with the Fab Faux by Rod Snyder
Although hopes were high that with the Phish fellas in the house we might get a reunion, it didn't happen. Although Phish didn't play any music, they did give emotional speeches upon receiving their Lifetime Achievement Award.

While there was no Phish, there was plenty of other great music and interesting collaborations. Highlights included co-hosts Warren Haynes and Grace Potter along with keyboardist Booker T. Jones, bass player Will Lee and Sir Joe Russo on drums performing classic hits like CSNY's "Find the Cost of Freedom," Fleetwood Mac's "Gold Dust Woman," and Al Green's "Take Me to the River."

Rose Hill Drive jammed with Mountain guitarist Leslie West and Potter on "I'm Going Down" and "Mississippi Queen."

Keller Williams performed his Jammy nominated song "Cadillac" before being joined by Chevy Chase, who at one time, way back when, played drums with Donald Fagen and Walter Becker before they formed Steely Dan. Chase played piano with Williams on a unique version of "(You Made Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" and a medley of "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Take the Money and Run."

Page McConnell led a jazz outfit that included bassist Christian McBride, drummer Roy Haynes, saxophonist James Carter and trumpeter Nicholas Payton through a couple of his own Phish compositions including "Magilla" and "Cars Trucks Buses."

The Beatles tribute act the Fab Faux performed with Joan Osborne on "Come Together," and Trey Anastasio joined the fray for "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." Trey remained onstage for the rest of the Fab Faux's set, which included a "Bungalow Bill" tease and "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey."

And while Phish didn't play any of their songs, some phans did. Disco Biscuits bassist Marc Brownstein and guitarist Jon Gutwillig, along with The String Cheese Incident's keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth, Umphrey's McGee guitarist Jake Cinninger and The Duo's Joe Russo performed a series of Phish covers under the name the HeadCount All Stars. They jammed on "Wilson," "Run Like An Antelope," "2001," and finally "Maze," which also featured Disco Biscuits keyboardist Aron Magner.

Stay tuned for more coverage of the Jammys on JamBase...

sci doesnt need the props, everyone that was at one of their shows knows how great it was. camp zoe was absolutely perfect. this will maybe give them incentive to give an even better tour in the future.

I agree about SCI. The NYC run, and Camp Zoe were probably the two best weekends of my touring career. It would've been nice to see them get some love, but what can ya do? Reunion at Rothbury???

How have SCI and Disco mooched off of Phish? Last time I checked, both bands had success while Phish was done playing. Phish did a lot for the scene, but to rip other bands as musicians just because you were disappointed is childish. By your logic, one could make the case that Phish mooched of the Grateful Dead.

Sorry nyhippy, but calling Marc Brownstein, Jon Gutwillig, Kyle Hollingsworth, Jake Cinninger, and Joe Russo mediocre musicians shows me that you haven't bothered really listening to the music they have created. All them are unique and experienced performers who have all used Phish as an influence to some degree, but have hardly made a living "copying" what they did. Now I guess you were there and were let down because Phish didn't jam together. This feeling obviously didn't help the situation if the jam you saw was indeed mediocre, but calling these guys talentless losers (which you did in so many words) is far from accurate.

SCI and Phish sound nothing alike. SCI doesn't even have an electric guitar player, they are mandolin dominated (at least recently). And to say these or other professional musicians "suck" is a pretty asinine comment to make. If you don't like a band that's fine, but to suggest that guys that have made a career selling tickets to their shows are bad musicians is pretty ridiculous.

Yeah really Rivertrancer. Obviously these people have heard 1 or 2 SCI songs and feel they know everything about them. I don't like Disco Biscuits but you don't see me bashing them. If SCI ripped off Phish then Phish ripped off the DEAD. Then NYhippy says "They add nothing and have no awareness of the roots of the music they play. Their jams go nowhere. They are derivative. [I suspect drug use is required to get through their seemingly never-ending sets.]"

Dude, have you been to a Phish show? Trey was the king of the jam going nowhere, drug induced jams. SCI knows nothing of the awareness of their roots. Are you f-ing kidding me? They learned from some of the best musicians out there including Peter Rowan who by the way played with Jerry. SCI's bluegrass blew the $hit out of Phish's bluegrass. There is nothing new under the sun jackass.

SCI kicks ass, and I loved seeing them live. The 3 show run at Camp Zoe was unreal last summer. That being said, the energy at a SCI show has never been able to match that of a Phish show. Although I suppose that's common knowledge...

In the music journalism scene I consistently see certain columnists trash the jam genre when they get the chance to do so. They mostly reside on the reviewer pages of alternative weeklies and maybe Spin magazine. Usually I just chock it up as hatred of patchouli oil while ignoring a cursory review of the actual music. To my point, SCI and the Disco Biscuits both have completely different sounds and different influences. SCI is rooted in Americana and Bluegrass, while the Disco Biscuits have their feet firmly planted in Electronica. Both stretch into the jam genre, which is what is so great about this genre. BTW, here's what Marco Benevento has been doing lately. Go ahead and call him an unimaginitive "wanker" now.

ny hippy, what you love always hurts you because YOU are a whiny little fag that bores the hell out of people like me. I'm tired of hearing how everything is inferior to the likes of Phish. YES, they were great and yes their music is untouchable in any form, from covers to the likey derivatives of their sound...but you just don't get it do you. Music trancends personal taste and what you think you know about what good music is.Time is the only REAL regulator of what music really matters. If your gonna bash music make sure it's definetly crap and not musicians that are actually talented. (ps I dont like sci of bisco either) So go find your sucky toy ,curl up with your old phish shirt and cry yourself to sleep wathing the Live in Brooklyn set.

The Jammy's were absolutely amazing. I'm so glad I made it there after recently learning that it was the last "Jammy's". Tears came streaming with the incredible performance by Trey with the FabFaux...it was sooo beautiful!!! HEADCOUNT ALLSTARS in my eyes stole the show...I hope they play some festys or a mini tour...maze/antelope...it was all nutty. Magical evening to say the very least. OHHH 1 more thing...let me give a shout out to my boy Jonah Smith for buying me a glass of champagne... <3 Thanks again PHISH! It's all been real!!!!

Yeah, for all the haters and people who tend to gravitate to their favorite band I would like to say that I love all the bands mentioned here in this article. Not as big on Bisco or UM, but I have seen them both put on a sick shows. As for the rest, Phish, SCI, Keller, Russo, Warren all rip!! Sure would have been funny to see chevy and keller.

I think the results are pretty deserving. Don't they usually wait until you're like 60 to give lifetime achievement awards? I'm not saying they don't deserve one, it just seems wierd to give to a bunch of 40 somethings.

Adventures-Just because SCI did their last tour, does not mean they should get tour of the year. That's retarded.

Seriously, all you people who get on here to bash bands, complain about the Phish member's solo projects, etc. need to grow up and find a new hobby. If you don't like SCI, the Duo, or whoever, don't go see them. If you don't like Trey's new cd, don't buy it. If you have something constructive to say whether it be critism or praise then I'm all for it. But don't go around bashing bands cuz you don't like them. When's the last time your band had a record deal or toured the country or sold out shows? These musicians work very hard at what they do and regardless of your opinion, like the music they produce. Music (and art in general) should be made to appease the creator and others enjoying it is a byproduct. So next time you hear music you don't like, comment on it constructively (positively or negatively) or move on to other music that you do like. One of you mentioned that you were a former contributor for jambands.com so lets use you for an example. I might not like your message but that doesn't mean your writing or grammer sucks. Now apply that to the current discussion. I personally am not a huge fan of Disco Biscuits. That doesn't mean their music sucks, it means that I don't enjoy all of it.

TDB should keep to their own music. The last jams should not have been phish songs played by TDB and friends. Left a bitter taste in everyones mouths after being hit the face by a brick of emotions. They should have closed with Jamming by Bob Marley or the phish speech or some type of superjam. NOT with TDB playing poorly rehearsed phish covers. ugh. And the ads and plugs in the middle of the performences should been a little less. I am sad. IT looks like phish is over for good. Damn.

SCI and Phish sound NOTHING ALIKE! Neither do Phish and Bisco! And neither do Phish and the Duo!!! Talk about being tone deaf. I like SCI okay, but boy wouldn't that be great if they "sounded just like Phish." I can't decide if it's funny or sad how hardcore music fans of one or two bands bash the rest. Oh wait, it's both funny and sad!
