TREY ANASTASIO'S ORIGINAL BOARDWALK STYLE
NOW AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER IN CD, DIGITAL & SPECIAL 180-GRAM VINYL EDITIONS

Trey
Original Boardwalk Style, a live album from Trey Anastasio and the Undectet, will be released on June 10 on Trey's own Rubber Jungle Records. Proceeds from the sale of the album will benefit the Seven Below Arts Initiative, established by Trey in 2006 to foster artistic development and support arts education in the state of Vermont.

The album was recorded at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, NJ on December 30 and 31 of 2006, coming at the end of the band's holiday tour. The two shows marked the culmination of a long year of touring and growth as what began as a six-piece sextet in the beginning of the year had progressed into a full-force eleven member Undectet.

The raw energy of a well-oiled band at the top of its game permeated the set as the composer/vocalist/guitarist led The Undectet - comprised of Tony Hall (bass, vocals), Ray Paczkowski (keyboards), Jeff Sipe (drums), Christina Durfee (vocals, synthesizer), Jennifer Hartswick (vocals, trumpet), Peter Apfelbaum (saxophone, flute), Russell Remington (saxophone, flute), Jeff Cressman (trombone), Dave Grippo (saxophone) and Cyro Baptista (percussion) - through electrifying big band arrangements of his classic songs, replete with big horns and dazzling Brazilian percussive stylings.

Original Boardwalk Style features over 75 minutes of music, remixed from the multitrack masters by Trey and Ben Collette at Rubber Jungle Studios and mastered by Fred Kevorkian at Kevorkian Mastering. In addition to CD and digital download formats, the album will be available as a double-gatefold, audiophile grade 180-gram LP Vinyl pressing.

The album is now available for pre-order as CD and Vinyl at Trey's online store as well as digital audio downloads (in both MP3 and FLAC formats) at LivePhish.com. All pre-orders will automatically be entered to win a professionally printed photo - signed by Trey and esteemed photographer Jeff Kravitz - of the band on stage at the House of Blues. Color corrected by Jennifer Brown, it will be framed in barn board crafted by Lars Fisk, a creative contributor to The Barn's Artist-in-Residence program. Ten runners-up will receive autographed copies of the vinyl.

I'd take Trey's original band with horns over most of post hiatus Phish. But that 70 Volt Parade was terrible. Hopefully this will be somewhat interesting.

Good for Trey, hope he gets better and gets back on the road. The interview on jambands with Kuroda quotes Kuroda as saying "Trey has big plans in the future." Hopefully we will see him soon (minus the 70 volt parade ha). Also there have been some great solo projects by all of them, Gordon and Kottke, Page's album, Trey's Horseshoe Curve, and Fishman with Everyone Orchestra and all of his random appearances. Obviously it doesnt compare to Phish but they still deserve much credit for those works.

I hope that phish fans read this and understand their band a little more......Trey=phish. Trey anastasio was the man who directed the other members of phish. it was always the trey show, and everyone needs to realize that. The other 3 really looked up to him for direction. He is the type A personality with 3 type B's supporting his vision (not that they didn't contribute in amazing ways). If anyone doubts this, do some homework and you will see that the band's most appreciated song, You Enjoy Myself (as well as many of their other early work) was written completely by Trey. Drums, Bass, and Guitar. The man IS PHISH. He called it quits and he will be the one to reunite the dudes when he feels up to it. The fact that he wanted to go in a direction musically that he couldn't get to with jon, page, and mike is understandable after close to 20 years. Accept it and move on. Sure, I wish i was there for the 94 fall tour, but that doesnt mean i can blame the guy for not keeping it up for next year's group of 21 year olds who just graduated and can finally go on tour. All this being said, it really is too bad that they just don't get together every new years eve at Big Cypress Indian reservation with some rehearsed material and give the people what they want, need, and outright deserve for their part in turning 4 guys with mediocre voices into one of the biggest bands in the history of music.

I find myself at odds with my desire to play music professionally. What a concept it is, though. Music being second only to family and friends, if, somehow, I could do what I love the most and earn a decent living, I'd like to think that I'd have no prayers left unanswered. The thing about aspiring to make your love into your living is that you open it to ridicule. When you put your art out there as a product, it becomes subject to opinion. I guess no one is to say from which place, be it pure or placebo, a said product comes. That is, no one but the producer. The truth is, if the art doesn't matter to the creator, then its validity to its audience is void. It would be a great day if artists made a point only to share what mattered to them. It would also be a great day when the audience could receive the work with the intention of loving reception or, at least, constructive criticism. The point is, to all of you who can't find it in yourselves to offer something useful in the way of direction to those whose art you think is compromised, leave it alone. As an artist, I can say that the art matters to the artist when, and only when, the vision of the art is realized in its final product. If you can't understand it, at least try to appreciate it for what it is. And if you can't appreciate it understand that there may be those that do.

I completely disagree with all you... Phish hit a wall. Thats all there was to it. I LOVE Phish. But they just could no do it anymore. Trey has, in my opinion, the only member of phish that has continually put out new music, and his progression, though it does not sound like PHISH will never be PHISH, but he definatly has a linear progression and I think his music is good. Face it you cant be 20 years old forever. You have to grow musically, and I really like his new stuff.

Now Mike Gordon w. the Bennevento Russo Duo is just stunning!

Thing is, the way we used to "tour", can not be done. It just isn't financially feasable, even sharing the cost traveling with a a bunch of people. Gas costs have killed "touring" fans. Only the most die-hard, well funded fans will be able to attempt a slew of shows. I can guarentee that is scaled back from what we used to do. Full tours... I am not sure if Phish could even "cash-in" at this point. I don't know if they have the fanbase to support a sellout in each venue, based soley on a local demographic. The lost their window. I still cherish the memories. I won't talk badly of them. If they came back, I don't think it'd be what anyone wanted in the end. Time in a bottle. (or was that lightning?) Nuff said. They should just do an annual NYE show. That's it. Classy, manageable. Let it mean more...do it right, if you MUST.

DaveT - I'm sure there would be plenty of fans, fans who missed their chance at seeing Phish during the 90's, would give anything to see a Phish reunion show. I personally know a lot of people who would sell their left nut just to see Phish live once in their lifetime. The question is: could they play well enough after all this time in order to persuade more fans to come out for another show on their tour? I bet if they played a few shows and sucked, they couldn't sell enough tickets to keep Trey away from the NO2 tanks in the parking lot of the venue. On the other hand, if Phish ever came back, let's say in 2010, and fucking blew everyone's mind like they did at their Vegas 12/06/96 show...every show would sell out.

I'm 19 and I'm a huge Phish fan. Unfortunately I was 14 when I got into them and right after that they broke up. I'm not one of those kids who only bought Farmhouse and only liked the song Heavy Things, but rather a kid who appreciates their improvisation and can stay involved in a 20 minute jam even if its a recording. I've researched their song story-lines as well as many legendary shows. I feel I need to see Phish before my youthful years end, because when I do listen to them, I feel young and vivacious as I should. I feel like I missed out on all of the fun. I've seen all of the members in some form and while the quality of music is definatley there, I feel like the energy of the crowd is not one, as it was with Phish. I sure hope they reunite and they do it sooner rather than later.

^^^ right on peaton! I was lucky enough to start going to shows, pre-hiatus, when I was about 16. Phish was one of the best things that ever "happened" to me when I was in high school and beyond. So, those few of you so easily and thoroughly trashing the songwriting/playing of Trey's solo material- can we assume that you are songwriters with a body of published material, a recording contract, and a touring band? Like the stuff or not, that is one thing, but juvenile trash talk comes a lot easier than writing music.

Phish would def. cash in if they ever get back together. Trey just needs to turn his pedal off and throw it out. His guitar work with Phish in 03-04 sounds so Different, you can't play a clean reba jam with that effect, Throw it out or turn it down....

I am looking forward to Phish again in 2010!

I was fortunate enough to see Phish live and have seen several of the guys playing in other bands and doing their solo thing - I have since developed a completely new and different appreciation of music.

I'd love to see Phish perform some of my faves (from their list) again, just a couple more times. I'd travel across the country for a reunion show.
