Tom Waits Announces Summer Dates

Tom Waits announced plans for his summer "Glitter And Doom" tour this morning (May 5) through a "press conference" featured on Tomwaits.com. The tour will include 13 shows and begins June 17 in Arizona.

The "press conference" was set up to look like a real interview/conference session but was later made apparent that Waits was talking to an empty room with the questions coming off a recording device... ahh, gotta luv this guy.

No details as to who (if anyone) will be joining Waits were revealed.

Meet me in St. Louis, Louis,

Meet me at the fair,

Don't tell me the lights are shining

any place but there;

We will dance the Hoochee Koochee,

I will be your tootsie wootsie,

If you will meet in St. Louis, Louis,

Meet me at the fair."

treetophigh -- I felt much the same as you for awhile. Then I saw him live and it all clicked, and now he's pretty much my favorite of all time. Brokenlight makes a good point, that his earlier albums are a little easier to ease into before diving into his more out there stuff from the 80s and 90s. If you can't see him live try to catch some DVD footage or YouTube stuff and maybe it'll all come together for you.

Knoxville is getting some gnarly shows this year. This is a good pre-rothbury show to see for me. Glad to see the Tennessee love.

Tom Waits is a reverend in his own spiritual right! On this great Sunday, a day when most go to church, I had the special blessing of driving to Tennessee to witness his great sermon. I could not feel more reborn than when I left the Civic Auditorium. This was beyond music! The experience ventured into realms of oil spilled t-shirt designs, multi horn/speaker scaffolding, talcom powder stomping with the occasional kick-bell, and yes we were also given the special privilege of hearing about the imaculate confection: "the Chocolate Jesus". I could rant all day about this. I have been to shows, festivals, crazy roadtrips and benders, but I have neve seen anything like this in all of my life. It was definitely more than just music, it was art. Glorious art!
