Columbia, SC
Morgantown, WV based roots-Jam band, The Recipe, are thankful to be alive tonight after being involved in a fire aboard their RV outside of Columbia, SC while traveling home from a tour of Florida. The cause of the fire is believed to be mechanical in nature. Band vocalist Joe Prichard said, "I was asleep and woke up and saw flames coming up through the floor. They managed to steer the vehicle into a median and all band members escaped without injury." The RV was soon completely engulfed in flames speading quickly to the equipment trailer.
The band managed to get some pieces of gear out but they estimated that 90% of their gear and personal belongings were a complete loss. Traffic on I-26 was backed up for miles as fire and police personel attended to the situation. No tour dates are expected to be cancelled as a result of the accident, including the band's appearance at Washington DC's 9:30 Club this Friday, August 10.
