Go See Live Music!
A picture is def worth a thousand words... Looked like some good Music being played, Voice of the Wetlands Allstars show looked like one hell of a time, anyone saw it? Is there recording on etree of it? Anyone?
This weekend is going to be absurd.
Very nice pictures
On behalf of myself, one whose not had the pleasure of attending one of our nations grandest of celebrations, ----- YET ------ Thank you JB photographers, for bringin' the rawcus for the rest of us ..... !!!!
all those photos are fuckinng great!
can't wait for Stevie this weekend...
this weekend was great even with all the rain. could not see too much of jazzfest itself but the late nights were bonkers. bisco threw down a nice party at tips till sunrise. galactic blew the roof off tips with charlie tuna and latif till sunrise of course. even joe russo came out and played some nasty drums. then the howlin wolf on sunday capped the weekend off. pbs, fest allstars with ian and ivan neville, porter jr, skerik, krasno, battiste and guests. then the duo put down a crazy late nite set with krasno melting faces and skerik. jazz fest late nights kill any other major festival late nights.
This looks insane, I cant believe I missed another jazzfest. Pics are great!! Midnight Disturbers looks nasty, and the late night shows....WoW!
Do they really play to sunrise? Do they start at 3 AM, or is it an all night thing?
Bisco started at around 2am and went until almost 6am!
Damn, I wish I was in NOLA right now . . .
You have not missed another fest yet. This weekend is going to be ridiculous.
The Funk Apocalypse is upon us.
Yeah, really nice pictures Jambase.
great shots. loved 'em all! give me more Bernie Worrell shots.
also, how did tDB's show come off in NOLA? well received? or just another tDB show?
Best written article Jambase has ever produced. The funk and brass is on! Thank YOU for transporting me for a few...
The Wetlands All Stars set was great but unfortunately they had to cut it short when it started to pour. It was wet, all right!
My fav sets were the stunning show by Alison Krauss and Robert Plant and the awesome band with Buddy Miller led by T Bone Burnett and the re-incarnation of the "River In Reverse" band with Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint.
I didn't know Flava Flav was in the wild madi gras indians. YEEAAAHHH BOOOOOOOYYYY!!!!!!
bisco started at 2.20am and went until 6am. galactic started around 2.45 and played past 7am. the duo krasno/skerik played till 4.30 on sunday. the late nights get great artists together to get in their own element and funk out. skerik really impressed me and krasno ripped. when benevento sat in with the fest all stars he played the funkiest piano jam that put me in the craziest trance all weekend. me like Nawlins
Great photos - I'm glad to see so many published online.
Do the photographers read the comments?
You carry equipment with you at all times?
The one thing, besides the bar-b-que, that makes me wish I still went to school in the south
My shoes still haven't totally dried out from saturday and sunday, and we only lasted maybe a couple hours both days before we were too soaked to enjoy ourselves. Wetlands Allstars was definitely a highlight for me, just an amazing mix of songs and musicians. Biscuits late night was the heat, and the crowd was fun and really into the show. It stayed pretty dry at night, so our best times were had out on the town barhopping and checking out local blues and funk acts in the french quarter. Great food, great music all day everywhere, bars open all night, no open container laws...what more could you ask for? I will say i was a bit surprised at the abundance of 80's rock cover bands playing in bars on bourbon street at night. This was my first Jazzfest/Nawlins experience, and i will definitely be back!
We are leaving from Austin at 6am this morning...4 hours 45 minutes and counting!!! This is my 4th in a row and 5th overall. The lineups are ALWAYS GREAT, but HAVE YOU SEEN THIS WEEKEND?!?!?!?! I'll be hangin with Page at the Monsta Jam whilst all the SPREADnecks get their groove on at the fairgrounds later tonight. Safe travels and remember, you must ALWAYS carry your sunglasses with you cause you never know when you'll be rockin out at a show only to look outside and see the sun coming up! I'll be watching the sunrise at the Sugar Mill on Friday morning and with UM at HOB on Saturday morning! See ya there!
Always my favorite photo spread of the year. Awesome! Thanks so much. Sending all my love to NOLA
Best fest there ism hands down!
Late night is where the magic happens.
