true, this is the granddaddy of them all. Now I'm not saying this fest will bomb because it won't, but a few of these fests are bound to flat out fail. flooding the market isn't gonna help. there's only so many people who will pay 150-300 bucks to go a festie and most people can't afford to go to more than a handful at most.

It wasn't the Band (the Hawks) backing Dylan for his first electric appearance, he had a different band with Mike Bloomfield in '65. They didn't join him until later in '66, and they had a different drummer while they were playing with Dylan anyway, Levon wasn't in the Band for most of the time when they toured with Dylan.

EOTO at a folk festival?, does anyone see the irony in that? Not sure any electronica acts have done this one before.

the folk fest is deep rooted and will be wonderful. i believe it will attract a slighty different crowd then some of the other big hitters in the area. honestly, i haven't seen buffett in 10 years, but i think it would be fun to unleash the parrothead deep within. haha.

went to it last year and would reccomend it for anyone. Possibly the most beautiful location for any festival. Great bands, great atmosphere, dead of summer, its too much fun and too little money to pass up.

RIP - Newport Folk Festival!! I attended seven between 1995-2002, and with the exception of a handful of artists, this is not what I call Folk! Of course, the promoters have had problems bringing in people, so the obvious shift to other genres. That said, Newport's biggest flaw is simple: No camping! If a portion of Fort Adams State Park was open to Festival Camping, especially in lieu of the overpriced hotels, I bet attendance would be far more consistent.

Its really good to see trey can finally leave the state of new york... solo acoustic should be really nice. I've seen him play solo a bunch during set breaks and its always really pretty, minimalistic, pleasant stuff. Dont go expecting to see him rage out or play anything to wild.

This is a terrific lineup, excepting Jimmy Biff; he's like the Thing that won't go away. I don't get his inclusion here at all, unless maybe to pull in a certain demographic- which happens to be my peers, but I would rather have my eyes poked out with burning sticks than sing along with Buffet wearing an ugly shirt. Great for Trey- good on ya, Red. Jake S., Kaki, Gillian, and Levon will all be stellar.

1st time playing this festival I think, thats what is meant by debute,

returns from hiatus does not mean no 10klf, probably not Roth, but he does owe 10k a favor for skipping out last year! i think they have room for a solo acoustic!
