Beck is a GREAT show, other than that STP and Joe Banamassa are the only others that look good.

Don't count out Lucinda Williams. She is one of the greatest songwriters in the history of this biz and she and her band put on an excellent gig.

Are they ever going to have a great lineup for either this or Sasquatch?? Shitty lineup. Except for: Beck, STP, Del, Saul Williams, and M. Ward. If you put all the good acts together that are playing at this "festivAL" you know what you get??? You get the equivalent to a decent day at Bonnaroo or ACL.

Hey Phish I never use the "yawn", but other than a handful (Beck, !!!, Lucinda, and Lee "Scratch" Perry) I'm right with you on that one, this is pretty cheap though.

This is just an initial line-up...why do so many people talk crap after only a few people are announced. This is one of the largest, most eclectic festivals in the country...you'll be singin' different tunes after all the add ons over the next couple months...

I live in Seattle and go to this every year. It has been going on since 1971 and it's much more than just music. It's art shows, workshops, comedy and other performances of all kinds. Its an ARTS festival. They had a really cool exhibit hall of completely amazing concert-poster art last year, with artists and posters for sale. I have, through the years, seen many bands before they got big by going to this festival. It is very eclectic. Everything from world, bluegrass, indie, hip-hop, mainstream, whatever. I have had more fun at Bumbershoot over the years than I have at many other festivals. It is right downtown under the space needle during the most beautiful time of year.

Over the years I have seen Ray Charles, Ali Farka Toure & Ry Cooder, Buddy Guy, Derek Trucks, RW20th congress, GBA, Karl D, Antibalas, galactic, sonic youth, lou reed, ween, the frames, sex mob, Bill Frisell, charlie hunter, soul coughing, oingo-boingo, MMW, critters buggin, Steve Earle, The Duo, B.B. King, The Ramones, Ben Harper, REM, Kanye West, De La Soul, Jerry Seinfeld, Chuck Palahniuk, Abdullah Ibrahim, Koko Taylor, more hip-hop and indie rock than I can mention, Richie Havens, Ladysmith BM, Booker T and the MGs, Bela Fleck, Art Ensemble of Chicago, Mark O'Connor, David Byrne, David Cross, Randy Newman, Miles Davis, Chuck Berry, Bob Wills, Willie Dixon, SRV, McFerrin, Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers, Bobby Blue Bland.... That's all I can remember right now. Look under history on the Bumbershoot website for the complete list over the years.

Now for the downside... every year the ticket price goes up two dollars and the quality of the performance goes down a little notch too. And as the ticket prices go up, but the bombardment of commercial advertisement from every angle increases with it. You'd think all the sponsorships could keep the ticket prices down.here's hoping they can fix what's wrong with Bumbershoot and get it back to what it used to be. The year I saw oingo-boingo, it was free!
