PELICAN ANNOUNCE SPRING TOUR
36 CITY NORTH AMERICAN STRIKE BEGINS IN APRIL

Pelican
Hydrahead recording artists and nu-metal gurus Pelican will embark on a massive spring tour that opens April 11 in Iowa City and wraps May 30 in Los Angeles. Supporting on most of the dates will be Thrice along with Circa Survive. Two night stands will take place in San Diego, Anaheim, L.A., and Chicago. Metal, done the way it should be. Tour dates below.

"There is epic music and there is epic music. Chicago instrumental quartet Pelican is proudly guilty of producing the latter, penning tunes so ambitious and triumphant that your everyday life seems insignificant in comparison." -XLR8R

"True believers, get ready to be born again, Pelican puts the metal back in instrumetal." -ALTERNATIVE PRESS

"Elemental, seasonally themed heaviness from Chicago instru-metal gods. Pelican earn their chin-stroking song titles with Melvins-like thunderdrone and nimble time changes that recall vocal-free '90s icons like Rodan. Get your trainspotter glasses on to catch all the stunning interplay, or just veg out and admire the storm." -SPIN

Pelican is good stuff. I'll probably go to their show but after noticing the openers (Thrice and that other band), I expect the crowd to be young, angst ridden, and probably way too moshy/violenct for my tastes. It's hard for me to get into a show when kids are trying prove something by moshing/crowd surfing. Pelican shouldn't disappoint though, and perhaps I'll be able to spread some collective vibes among the Detroit Hardcore fans.

They don't have shows in my immediate vicinity on this tour, but I would recommend that people check this band. They tastefully combine the beautiful textures and melodies of post rock with the aggressive energy of metal. I hope everyone enjoys the show regardless of the scene there.

i think pelican is actually the opening band on this. thrice and circa survive aren't bad either but yeah their crowds are young but i wouldn't think there will be a lot of "moshing" just a lot of screaming girls and scenester/emo types and maybe some skater kids

I really don't understand what all the fuss is about this band. Pelican's last record is garbage! It's performed very poorly and the songs go nowhere. If there previous albums were good, then they got really lazy on this one.
